Very interesting. I also had a similar theory regarding intertwined destiny, but this involved Frieza. I thought that the super saiyan legend or the super saiyan prophecy that prompted Frieza to destroy the saiyan race was supposed to be about Broly rather than Goku,. His abnormal power level, and the fact that Goku and Broly were both born on the same day makes me think that their destinies were always intertwined, however, King Vegeta's own selfishness pretty much ensured that Broly couldn't fulfill his destiny, and Goku ended up "stealing" Broly's destiny from him. This in a meta sense is the reason that Broly hated Goku, Gokus presence not only reminding him of his trauma, but he literally stole Broly's future and his purpose from him, being the one to kill frieza and avenge his race.
this is the whole plot of Megamind but without the character development lmfao. GREAT ANALYSIS! I hope you continue to make more, your editing style is just peak
...well, let's nor forget the power dynamic. Broly has incredible power, far more than Goku. Metroman the child of privilege also had the privilege of unbelievable power.

Man this is an excellent dive into Z Broly's character. I didn't see the similarities between him and the dark side of Wukong. I was in the camp of "His motivation is stupid" before, but this makes plain sense to me. Well done.
Broly: KAKAROT your power level is big right? Broly: WELL MY POWER LEVEL IS MAXIMUM! Broly: MY POWER LEVEL IS MAXIMUMER! Vegeta: He's so cool yet so dumb. Vegeta: You don't understand he is the legendary super saiyan yet he is driven by a crying baby. Vegeta: Your just mad your not the legendary super namekian. Broly: Oh princess TRUUUNKS!
Damn, your content is AMAZING, dude! Recently i've read the original DB Manga,, chapter 1 to the end, always being a fan of the franchise since forever but never actually looking the TRUE source material, after i did it, it probably was the best thing i've done in years, made me see the true development and ideas from Toriyama and taught so many new mindsets and lessons that i actually use on my life, this type of knowledge also changes how you see other content from the franchise SO MUCH. Because of that, i hated Z Broly, my modern take on him was basically "Generic Z edgyness to gain money with a very awesome design into it", always shit talked Z Broly on every aspect related to him, especially when compared to DBS's Broly. Also something i didn't see you point out is just how both Goku and Broly are both *The Super Saiyan* , wich makes them more related on the terms of the being two sides of the same coin, because, Broly also is a calm soul that was awankaned by fury, just like Goku, but i'm a very different way! Man, this video blew my mind SO hard, most of people of this community try to reach way too far, collecting things from a lot of very inconsistent sources and literally just telling headcannons, but you, damn, you literally just spitted facta for 10 minutes straight! Very trustful sources with actual backup and good interpretation of the themes within the topics you discuss, your channel is the best of the DB Community right now! Keep it up, man! Also, upon watching more of your stuff, i really want to know what's your view on the old Goku's Origin Story (and Bardock's characterization, motivation and storyline) compared to Minus and DBS! I'm suggesting this video because of how much the changes made to how and why Goku got to earth may or may not changed how the series was originally made out to be, with the weird ass Bardock's wish, good parentes and etc. (I'm a big Z Bardock and the old Goku's origin fan so it's very hard to not be bias when i thought about it, would be nice to see if i can change my mind, or just appriciate the new cannon more, because i definitly don't like it AT ALL!)
Never heard anyone give this explanation before. I think it really works. But then, does that mean they merely doubled up on the ‘evil version of Goku’ in both Turles and Broly? Dbz anime does double up on storyline’s (villains escaping hell, tuffle returning for revenge on saiyans)
When hearing the description of Sun Wukong's character, I think I can better understand what Toriyama originally had in mind for Goku as a character whenever he talked about how he saw Goku as a selfish character who cared more about the thrill of battle than anything else. However, I feel that doesn't mean he's right about Goku when he uses that description of him, since the way Goku's actually written greatly contrasts with the character Toriyama describes in interviews, whether it he be manga Goku or the nobler Goku from DBZ. Basically, while this may have been what Toriyama had in mind for Goku as a character originally, I feel his claims are more him believing that what he envisioned for Goku was what he wrote in contrast to the Goku he actually created, and even then, based on how Toriyama likes to keep things pretty simple and straightforward from a story and character perspective, I doubt his vision of Goku would've been used to make him a more layered person that the character we actually got.😊
I do enjoy how this does improve both Super and Z Broly a lot by seeing how Akira Toriyama once again pulls from Journey to the West. I still prefer Super Broly but this does help Z Broly in my opinion
This is awe-inspiring!!! The moment I saw probably the legendary super Saiyan original one, his outfit is design his mental his power is inability to control it. I love it. I always knew Broly for legendary Super Saiyan and Goku the legendary Super Saiyan were connected in a way that was far beyond normal.
It really make appreciate Z Broly more as he served as a personal foil to Goku and his life. I always view Z Broly that was debut in Movie 8 as a true original Broly that no amount of reapperance and reboot can replace him. He's not a mindless berserker that just scream Kakarot in later movies, but a soft-spoken sadist, relished on tormenting others, physically and mentally, with Goku's existence and cry being psychologically tied to everything wrong with his life. He has all of evil aspects of Goku's Saiyan enemies combined and expand them into the most evilest Saiyan, but with tragic backstory that give depth to his motivation. DBS Broly may have a good characterization and background, but he will never be "Broly" because he didn't inherited his original character.
The whole broly using ozaru power is cool, makes we wonder if sayians who achieve super sayian kept their tails would they ascend to godhood in a different manner than the pure sayian ritual. Like primal god sayian, I guess that’s what ssj4 is basically.
This is a very important reason why localization teams are needed and how when done properly they are a god send. A god of wrath chained down will always look down at someone weak and pathetic but free from his bindings. If the localization team put in more effort it coukd have made the Broly films more iconic.
Very interesting video with a theory that has potential but I would add a few things using the examples given in the video and my knowledge, of the two Broly versions we have the DBS version is much closer to the Sun Wukong likenesses unlike the DBZ broly. DBZ Broly has similarities to Sun Wukong only in the Crown (Golden Headband) that controls him, and that he caught the attention of several gods due to the destruction he spread, Sun Wukong's Crown did not control him but produced incredible excruciating pain in his head as punishment when he was disobedient, plus the crown which he wears around his head was made by the gods, and given to the monk Tripitaka so that he can discipline The Monkey King, Sun Wukong attacked the gods but not out of malice because he is not evil and bloodthirsty but just battle hungry, and very angry because he was deceived, after learning to be a buddhist in order to become immortal, he found out that his immortality was not real, and that every five hundred years a large calamity would be thrown at him to kill him, so later through many different circumstances and events, he erased his name from the scripts in the underworld and freed himself from the authority of the gods of death, and later became even more immortal in many different ways, and he had several different levels of immortality, and with so much power and invincible immortality he wanted the title "Great Sage Equal to Heaven", and since they did not want to give it to him and to fulfill the other conditions he asked for, then he went to war with the heavens, and destroyed them all until the Buddha jumped in, and defeated The Monkey King and trapped him under the mountain, with a magic seal so that he could not lift it, and so he remained captive for five hundred years until he was called on a Journey to The West to help a Buddhist monk Tripitaka. DBS Broly has similarities to Sun Wukong only that he beat up gods (in transformation only but, not in title because they are still mortal), that he has that fur around his waist (although we know that it is a beast's ear and not a piece of fur, but it has a furry appearance), and what is actually even more truer to the Sun Wukong likeness than the original DBZ Broly, is his shock collar, which is not a crown but it does not control him, and causes him so much unbearable pain that he has to calm down, and be obedient just like with Sun Wukong and his crown. Super Saiyan is not at all related to Sun Wukong inspiration since he could transform into anything, although he was known for his giant monkey transformation with multiple arms and a lot more things added to make him as scary as possible, your theory about there similar destiny is good, and for them to be destined for great things, and part of the same legend, and that Goku had more advantages in his life than Broly is interesting, although there are too few things connecting them for this theory to be solid enough, although it is an interesting look at that story from that first movie.
Speaking of Broly, what's you opinion on the DBS Broly movie as a whole? It featured Bardock, his squad in a cameo scene, and even his wife, Gine, so I want to hear your thoughts on the movie overall.
OG Broly was fucking awesome. In Europe we had access to the original dub, so that factor helped tremendously (the shitty rock music kills the entire movie, dunno what possessed the ones that did the dubs to add such horrible music in that one and in all movies). The back story made perfect sense, since in Japan there is a folklore about babies born next to each other, the crying and all and how it is a bad omen. Also, Broly being the legendary super sayiajin and actually knowing how to fight is another huge plus. Bin Shimada the japanese VA captured perfectly the raw, savage, violent nature of Broly. Broly was a perfect bully and a very gifted fighter. At no point during all his fights does it look like he does not know what to do or how to do it. It took Son Goku to receive the combined powers of Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo and Vegeta to even match him. The scene were we are shown how King Vegeta disposed of them like trash moments before Freeza destroyed the planet, thus awakening Broly's dormant power even as an infant was done with great effect. The fact that he scared the ssj out of Vegeta was again pure awesomeness. He was in a league of his own and truly a terrifying villain. A badass through and through. Then we got the lame one in DBS...no back story, can't fight, can't control his power, but he is able to go toe-to-toe with ssj god and ssj blue in base form without knowing how to fight, because of course he can (like Uub rehashed)...Ruined for a modern day audience.
I would really hope one day they will make a new Super Dragon Ball Heroes movie featuring Broly God from the 4D movie as the main antagonist. I think this is the only way to bring the original DBZ Broly back in the big screen.
Good video bro, really liked it. But there are a mistake that you may not know/point out (there are some but im not sure if this is true either, since i havent watch Journey to the west for a while) Wukong is NOT bloodthirsty, in fact he fought for justice. He rebelled against the heaven because of their foolish decisions. Overall yeah i liked the video alot, probably the first most detailed and relaxing video to watch, keep up the good work.
I remember i absolutely loved the broly movies and when the movies first came out i hated what thay did to dragon ball soo i sed i was not going to watch it then sevral years later my best friend got me this movie for my birthday and i absolutely loved the broly movies bio broly was kinda week but even that was amazing

Love this video man big fan of dragon ball and it’s great to see people dive into pieces of its history that not everyone knows about keep it up bro!!!
I can save a lot of time by saying broly hates goku because at his core he is a repressed character. everything in his life is an expression of repression and holding back. Even when he's scared while being first born, he doesn't even have the ability to cry because his entire character's energy is having no ability to exercise any emotions or feelings externally. That's why when goku has the ability to cry and express himself, it causes a tramatic memory to exist where his parrallel kakarot, has all of the traits he desires, being forthright and open emotionally and was spared the death sentence of planet vegeta or king vetega himself. This is shown throughout the entire movie until he finally explodes and can truly externalize his emotions and it's a torrent of pent up anger and resentment.
Its like people are purposely trying to play dumb around Broly's motivation! He hates Goku not because he was whining next to him, its because he ties it to his trauma, that day he was stabbed his father was shot, and his planet was destroyed..... Like how stupid someone can be to ignore it?? And before you claim how could he know? Then please remember that these are not human babies, its saiyans. We can safely assume that they are smarter as they are being feeded with information in their capsule. Its a story about Broly's truma, his hatred towards Goku is because in the mind of a baby, everything went downhill from the moment Goku startled Broly with his cry.
Yknow, at 7:58, Goku's pallette makes his hair look kinda pinkish... Blue haired Broly (OG Goku) on the left and Pink Haired "Poser" Goku on the right. I dont know if thats a coincidence on your part but thats pretty crazy
Do you know annoying crying babies are..? If you cry so much you annoy ANOTHER baby, that's valid as fuck. And better than the same points of I hate all mortals, let's kill everyone I lost one fight, now everyone needs to die I wanna take over the galaxy just so I can sit around my space throne
Honestly I just think broly got ptsd from goku crying. That was the only thing he heard before getting shanked, thrown into the trash and then having his planet blow up. That shit would traumatize any of us. Who can honestly say they would have a stable mental after experiencing that? Especially after you were just born? Idk it always made sense to me that way.
That is there. The crying triggers the PTSD but his story is more complex. Don't forget who raised Broly. What was Paragus obsessed with, how would this man raise his son?

Do a video on the moro arc. 👀 it started off interesting then became a Cell 2.0 Clone. 😔 there’s a problem with weekly/monthly manga and weekly anime where they always force a cliffhanger leading to forced and rushed plot points, bs power ups, and etc. Dbs really has been just nostalgia bait redoing iconic moments but without the same weight since a. Honestly this is probably the right answer. Intertwined destinies and divine symbolism are very common in Japanese media (hence all the Western memes about destined heroes and other anime tropes) and often tie plot elements together in a way that can seem baffling to Westerners. There is plenty of room for characterization of course because Broly is compelling outside of his character inspiration, but that kind of storytelling allows characters that should not reasonably know each other be bitter enemies. Given that the character needs to fully evolve during a movie runtime makes sense to make his character myth driven. I've sunk way too much time trying to make sense of Broly's psychology, but it might be outside of the scope of his original design. Fantastic video, this actually changed my opinion on a character I thought I had figured out. Binging your vids right now, excited to see what you cook for us in the future!

Honestly with some more fleshing out Z Broly could've been an amazing final antagonist for OG Dragon Ball, he would've been a dark reflection of everything Goku had been through throughout the manga. Sharing Goku's Monkey King origins while being an insane super saiyan. He is everything Goku is but everything Goku isn't at the same time. And I've always thought there was a funny irony in Broly being an evil super saiyan as it's a transformation the saiyan Z-Fighters used to defeat their enemies is now being used against them and there's an immense level of irony in Goku being the trigger for Broly's LSSJ Transformation 🤔

But that’s not Goku’s fault. He was just a baby.. he didn’t know any of this shyt till Radits came to earth and explain it to him
You didn't have shit
Ngl I always had a feeling that Goku and broly are the same character, although I couldn't explain it.
this is the whole plot of Megamind but without the character development lmfao. GREAT ANALYSIS! I hope you continue to make more, your editing style is just peak
...well, let's nor forget the power dynamic.
Broly has incredible power, far more than Goku.
Metroman the child of privilege also had the privilege of unbelievable power.
Great vid man, I like everyone else always saw classic broly as that “HES SO COOL” type of guy with no character, but this deep dive made me appreciate him even more. Definitely subbed
I appreciate that bro, glad you enjoyed the video and subscribed to the channel! 🔥🤝
Finally, on the title alone someone finally gets Broly!
You know it! Glad you liked the video 🔥
Been waiting on this! 🔥💯
Appreciate that bro, couldn't wait to upload this one! 🔥🔥
I wish this was the case with DBS Broly. Hopefully they give him similar clothes and jewelry in the future.
I'd say Broly is the yin to Goku's yang meanwhile Turles is supposed to be Goku if he never hit his head making them distinct "Evil Goku" characters.
Great video I’ve seen two videos this year giving homage and respect to Z Broly as a character and individual
I appreciate that bro, Z Broly is too underrated
phenomenal analysis and editing, your perspective gives a seemingly one-note character a lot of depth. keep up the good work~
Broly was never one note, it was the fans who gave him that negative stigma
Best video about Broly by far
I appreciate that bro, glad you liked the video! 🔥
I didn't know any of that about Wukong.
Yeah Journey to the West is a pretty great story, Overly Sarcastic Productions are doing a series summarising it, it's really good
You've clearly put way more thought into this than Toriyama himself ever did.
I do enjoy how this does improve both Super and Z Broly a lot by seeing how Akira Toriyama once again pulls from Journey to the West. I still prefer Super Broly but this does help Z Broly in my opinion
That melody when he started talking about journey to the west and son wukong had me smiling like a damn fool I NEED IT
This is awe-inspiring!!!
Broly's 2nd appearance is also great and I agree with your view.
@@ShrekFhiyona I'm not sure about his 2nd movie, as it's basically the start of Broly's flandarization in modern materials.
@@MinhLe19303 you can blame the English dub for that.
I watch Japanese version with English sub and it was different.
I knew that it was a good idea to sub to you
And I appreciate having you as a subscriber bro! 🤝🔥
Yo you're a Genius I never thought about it until you mentioned the head piece
The whole broly using ozaru power is cool, makes we wonder if sayians who achieve super sayian kept their tails would they ascend to godhood in a different manner than the pure sayian ritual. Like primal god sayian, I guess that’s what ssj4 is basically.
This is a very important reason why localization teams are needed and how when done properly they are a god send. A god of wrath chained down will always look down at someone weak and pathetic but free from his bindings. If the localization team put in more effort it coukd have made the Broly films more iconic.
a bit out of topic here but that soulcalibur 2 song tho🔥🔥🔥
lol i actually learned something here. nice video man.
Wow that’s way deeper than I thought it would be
Bro why isn’t this guy more popular
I'm trying to get there maybe one day lol 🔥
Because he tells the truth to Dragon Ball "fans" and they don't wanna hear it lol
@@R1ck_Ryder fr
Broly didn’t hate Goku but Goku was a trigger of his trauma, due to king vegeta stabbing him.
Bro you are the G.O.A.T.
If you say so it must be true! Appreciate that bro 🔥🔥
THE GOAT HAS UPLOADED AGAIN‼️
I appreciate that bro! I even wanted to drop this video a week ago 🔥😂
Bro didn't watch the movie 💀
I would really hope one day they will make a new Super Dragon Ball Heroes movie featuring Broly God from the 4D movie as the main antagonist. I think this is the only way to bring the original DBZ Broly back in the big screen.
Good video bro, really liked it. But there are a mistake that you may not know/point out (there are some but im not sure if this is true either, since i havent watch Journey to the west for a while)
Wukong is NOT bloodthirsty, in fact he fought for justice. He rebelled against the heaven because of their foolish decisions.
Overall yeah i liked the video alot, probably the first most detailed and relaxing video to watch, keep up the good work.
@0:41 holy shit! someone is actully going to talk about z broly i really hope you talk about how "overhated" he is.
Akira needs his editor back to keep him in line lol
I remember i absolutely loved the broly movies and when the movies first came out i hated what thay did to dragon ball soo i sed i was not going to watch it then sevral years later my best friend got me this movie for my birthday and i absolutely loved the broly movies bio broly was kinda week but even that was amazing
Broly is what goku would have been if he didn't hit his head. His dark counterpart in a way.
Better then Turles and Goku black tbh
Honestly man you're built different for picking up on those broly-wukong parallels. I've literally never seen anyone notice this. Immediate sub. Your doing different my guy🤯
Love this video man big fan of dragon ball and it’s great to see people dive into pieces of its history that not everyone knows about keep it up bro!!!

@@CAGExplains I see .were you an editor somewhere or did you take training?Since this lvof editing can't come in one day
I can save a lot of time by saying
broly hates goku because at his core he is a repressed character. everything in his life is an expression of repression and holding back.
Bro just made Broly x10 cooler 😭
Goku is kakarot, but broly is wukong
Brilliant. I never caught that design choice
Do you know annoying crying babies are..? If you cry so much you annoy ANOTHER baby, that's valid as fuck.
And better than the same points of
I hate all mortals, let's kill everyone
I lost one fight, now everyone needs to die
I wanna take over the galaxy just so I can sit around my space throne
I originally wanted to make a crying baby on an airplane joke but it would've interrupted the flow of the introduction so I left it out 😂
You're becoming my favorite TH-camr dude !
Thanks! I'll do my best to get there 🔥
okay bro you're officially my new favorite DBZ youtuber!!!
Wow dude. This should have more views… I’ve always known broly vs goku was a movie about fate/destiny and that goku triggered brolys trauma and he was misunderstood but WOW did this give me an understanding of the lore and backstory of not just broly but goku too. Best video I’ve seen on broly hands down man thank you 🙏 subbed
TFS brainwashed people into thinking Z Broly is just a KAKAROT! yelling machine when he is so much more ,W video as always
Z Broly > DBS Broly imo (not in power ofc)
They didn't "brainwash" anyone, the people watching TFS are already stupid for taking a parody seriously.
Appreciate that bro! I think Z Broly suffers from the DBZ Movies having such short run times, another 20 minutes could've expanded on his trauma more
@@inkchariot6147 fr ppl need to stop with this bullshit for blaming tfs for everything
dbs broly is just a manchild with even less lines and the rest is yelling he is stupit as fuck . but he is cute so people autonatically say that he is better than Z broly .
@@inkchariot6147yes and no because tfs themselves believe that broly hates goku because he cried, they are not neutral about it. So it can influence ppl even if they dont mean to. Since tfs are very popular and liked they will have a big influence on people which can lead people to believe in false things.
Hmmm. Very interesting take. I have never come across this perspective before.
Thanks! 🔥
Great vid, earned my like easily
Do a video on the moro arc. 👀 it started off interesting then became a Cell 2.0 Clone. 😔 there’s a problem with weekly/monthly manga and weekly anime where they always force a cliffhanger leading to forced and rushed plot points, bs power ups, and etc. Dbs really has been just nostalgia bait redoing iconic moments but without the same weight since a. It’s already been done before and b. they literally destroy character arcs just to have them go through the same character arcs they already went through way back in Z and even in previous arcs in Super.
Honestly a Moro video has been my requested by FAR, it will come eventually I already know what I'll talk about 🔥

This was a dope interpretation of Broly, and I have a new appreciation for the best DBZ villain now
Finally! Someone who understands!

Your videos r so amazing & so in depth, like i have not seen a creator with so much deep knowledge about Dragon Ball Ever. Love u bro, keep bringing more videos like this 🙂💗...
This is a pretty interesting take. Great job man!
The truth is for dbz broly will always be so iconic for me anyways and what I mean is how he was absolutely destroying the z fighters no problem the only reason he lost was plot armor
From 8:15 it actually gets kinda emotional ngl djkfkfk i really don't think they put this much thought into it, but they SHOULD'VE, this is cool af
I love modern broly a lot anyway, but still
Broly is also Ultra Super Sayen Trunks by his design.
Z broly is the pinnacle of saiyan evolution and goku making him cry as a baby was their first fight and he lost...
oi bigman cool vid, can you tell me the name of the backround music please it sounds like a good remix of "kid buu is fighting"
Not going to lie I thought you going to also make a comparison with Broly to the often overlooked Macaque from the same story.
I considered that but just ended using an image of their fight when the Macaque disguised himself as Sun Wukong to represent Goku vs Broly 05:17
@@CAGExplains Yeah I saw that, but you quickly glossed over it and did not really talk about it. Still a great video regardless.
It all makes so much sense now, thank you for enlightening me! Do you think Broly should've been end game villain for OG Dragon Ball?
@@CAGExplainsI strongly agree with this. It would've been a far more fitting end to OG Dragon Ball over Majin Buu. How much terrifying destruction do you think he would do in comparison to Majin Buu?
the part I disagree on is broly going mad with power or trauma broly is who he is what we see in his lssj from is the truth of his person
You didn't link that other video at the end about continuity
Z Broly : brtrayed by his own race everything taken away from him , the true legendary super saiyan every othere form is just a mere mutation . so powerful he literally explodes when transforming
dbsuper broly : he is a child in a mans body now so he is better, also dont have even less lines he mostly just yells but he is cute
Betore I see the video, I gotta say that I see Brolu seeing Goku and remembering that hes a false king for people who hate him, like he held it in because of the crown because otherwise hed go crazy so that reminder of the Saiyan's betrayal and reminder that no one has ever been on his side, shit man he got stabbed as a baby and people think its Goku thats got him fucked up
