  • In this monthly teaching, Mingyur Rinpoche compares suffering with a car that we drive and shows us how to work with craving and aversion, not by fighting them in any way but by simply letting them come and go.

    I meditate for a few years already, but it's good to have a reminder of such things, especially from a very trustworthy person like Yongey Mingyur. I still suffer a lot and tomorrow before work i will meditate with this in mind and throughout my day i will try to let go of the resistance against so many things i do and feel.

    Hi I have not forgotten you. Things are changing really fast. Never really sure it's safe to sleep or leave. Lots of different people in and out. People squatting here and fighting with each other and even calling police to complain.
    Trying to stay calm. People are so high they try hard to harass me. I turn the music on TV up loud. Oldies. They stop harassing and start dancing.
    Sometimes I go to bed telling myself everything is OK.
    The change is stressful but always for the better. I developed an ulcer. Saw the doctor it's better.
    I m still doing the messages for Troy Black and I m doing a series of monthly stories on the twelve apostles. Each week covers the birth the childhood the meeting of Jesus and finally their preaching.
    The base of each story is fact Wikipedia. The rest is fiction. I did a lot of research on the three I've done so far and drug trade is about the same. It's so much the same I think the apostles were similar to black rappers. I use their story lines as a background for the stories.
    Think about you and Shi hing li a lot.

    I would add to the technique also a reflection asking: What am I trying to control through this desire? Is it something that belongs to me? Just as I cannot admit that my body is completely under my control, how is the object of this desire any different? But the one of this aversion? In my case, to be able to let go, I need in addition to understand that I resist the nature of things by attempting to control something outside of my power.

I hate cooking. i got angry when i think of cooking. I do not know how to handle. But now i will try your method, letting go and accept, Rinpoche la. Thank you so much Rinpoche la.🙏🙏🙏

    Happy birthday, Yongey Mingyur.
    You have made meditation very accessible to me a few years ago, to the point I can't do without it anymore. After two years of trying (and sometimes failing), I have a far greater clarity, awareness and gratefulness for a lot of things than I used to. Especially awareness, seeing the panic of my panic. The knowledge that the monkey mind is a persistent, tough creature to tame. Your videos are invaluable. I hope to meet you one day so I can say thank you in person.

    Suffering from covid for the first time. I've noticed that the 5-10 primary thought topics that I have every day did not come into my consciousness for several days. When this was noticed, there was a feeling of gratitude. Those negative thoughts may come back, but not having them for a few days was a gift.

    to develop balance in our daily routine is a positive focus of our attention. I sometimes like to gently place my thumbs beneath my eyebrows and press into the upper part of my eye sockets. it seems to relieve tension and brings you closer to where your physicality is. perhaps it is the physical motion of breaking the air with your arms. perhaps blocking the pressure in front of you from touching upon you. whatever the reason, it is an added help.
    thank you for your steady and kind instruction. it is unchanging and I thank you for this constancy. 🙂

    it’s crazy when you remember all those “bad thoughts” is just your anxiety & it’s like oh yea duhh breathing exercise. it’s very easy to forget & get stuck in that cycle

    • @sorachi295
      @sorachi295 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Breathing and meditating while acknowledging these anxieties or emotions you’re feeling is the key because you’re recentering your focus to breath work and meditation instead of trying to change or make the anxiety go away which typically makes it worse because you’re essentially fighting it. It takes a lot of practice and patience, don’t give up.
