    Rinpoche, I had a deathly fear of a chance of bad health, bad mental health or ailment, and of death.
    And because of your teachings, I am better than ever; friends with my fear and understanding the world so as to not fear it.
    I am not a buddhist, I am an atheist but I shall always be your student.

      Erase words bad or good of you vocabulary forget it within (outside you will still conventionally use but its different inside yourself) :
      you re now an eternal student, an explorer, an adventurer !
      🌞
      Its all about learning, you discover a day, you discover a night, then an other. You discover sun and moon, sky and ground, everything that was missed cause of lack of attention and interest.
      Now youre in the zone. This is the place you want to go back when things tough !
      How invincible are you when its all about learning, great alchimist uniting all things in one way !

    I used to lie to myself and be honest with everyone about most things. Then I got sober and decided to be honest with myself and everyone always. It changed everything for me. Drugs and alcohol almost destroyed me and my chances at happiness, but I have my life back now and am doing great! I owe you and all sentient beings my best effort in this life. Sometimes I stumble a bit with my emotions like anger, and resentment. But meditation and faith have brought me so far that I know everything will keep getting better, if I put in the effort. You are extremely radiant, loving and wise. Intent is everything. I really appreciate what you do for all of us and your advice. Namo Buddhaya

    Very educative. I love his videos. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to you.

    I am temporarily staying with my elderly parents to help them out. They are both 'negative' karma - basically miserable, cruel, etc. What I struggle with is not letting their negative karma rub off on me, since I'm exposed to it on a near-constant basis.

    • @pranyaphookan
      @pranyaphookan ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! Though i understand the situation you are in and send all positive energies to you. But rather than getting worried about their bad karma rubbing off on you, why don't you try to create an environment with good karma that runs off on them? Remember that dwelling on the fact that people around you are in negative positions doesn't create anything positive for yourself. Become a witness to your environment and focus on the ultimate good. Hope this helps

  • @starfieldofenhesse
    @starfieldofenhesse หลายเดือนก่อน

    If I understand karma correctly, it is the effect of an initial mental attitude that results in actions through the will. Since everything is interconnected, the karma of all people continues like waves in a pond into which stones are thrown.
    When we harm others, whether in a trivial daily action or with words, it leads to negative mental effects on the person harmed but also on ourselves through the damage inflicted on our mind by the negative impacts of negative thinking and actions. The harmed person, affected by us, might in turn harm someone else because they are now in a bad mood, hurt, and 'unstable.' And they, in turn, harm someone within their circle of acquaintances and friends. And so the negativity continues, perhaps even building up to a tsunami. Or like a snowball that becomes an avalanche. It works the same way in a positive direction as well, and that is far more important.
    This is why we all have responsibility for our collective future. We’re all in the same time-boat, in the same analog time arrow, on spaceship Earth. We are not perfect. But if we make an effort to understand, to meditate, it could lead to a better future: for those we come into contact with, as well as for ourselves, for the health of our minds, and even our bodies (since negative mental attitudes lead to specific illnesses).
    It has taken me 54 years to gradually understand these interdependencies, and with the help of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, I might be able to understand even more. Thank you for your explanations, your help, and your wonderful sense of humor.

    Karma is not a mysterious force or energy that makes the universe a fair place. Karma is the effect of a cause. Its Newton's second Law, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
    For example... You could cheat and actually profit from that cheating, the karma is in the profit just as much as it in your future decisions to cheat again.

    • @Calligraphy-dilipaweeratunga13
      @Calligraphy-dilipaweeratunga13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do not try to interpret Dhamma with existing laws used to describe physical reality. Two reasons,
      1. You will come across things that can not be explained physically/physical laws; things which are metaphysical. The Dhamma is beyond science, if you continue what you are doing the sure end is nothing but frustration. You will loose the cause, the motivation to practice Dhamma.
      2. Even Laws of science will change in the advent of new discoveries. They are just means of describing the universe, not the path of liberation from the universe, but the Dhamma is. So, choose what do you want.

      Thank you @Calligraphy for pointing out this misconception. I used to have this sort of rationalist idea of karma, but that is not Dharma. I would also like to add that the reason our negative actions can appear to have temporary positive effects is only because of our past merits, which are being exhausted by wrongdoing and replaced with the causes for suffering once that ripens later.

    • @study-su1gc
      @study-su1gc ปีที่แล้ว

      No no not blame themselves for aging but beware of your action in your youth as aging is inevitable eg let's say you happen to pick up a bad habbit by saying just today I do it not tommorow
      Now that most of the times transforms to reckless abuse of whatever it is like let's say yt shorts or lazing around too much like eating too much or drugs etc etc now you may feel like it's all ok and no one's gonna know but it affects you in the long term when it comes to fruition the bad habit like you want it more so you suffer more so it's not saying aging is cause of ur past karma but early aging or pain in joints or diseases like kidney gone bad or liver is bad or heart problems or smt else see these are gonna happen as we age but it may happen too seriously or too early and that is cause of our reckleaa actions of past ( youth)
      And that's how you should see it
      The buddha also told to not try to understand why someone is in a situation like why is someone suffering or why is someone in blissful times cause ( we may misunderstand and disregard the present karma or the past karma, this is my interpretation) we should just know the cause and effect and therefore use it as a basis for our every current action
