The armies that defeated the Aztecs were mostly local indigenous enemies, not Europeans. The lack of immunity to Old World diseases wiped out a large portion of the indigenous population, including allies, rather than warfare.
These circumstances allowed Westernized mestizos (biracials), who had better immunity and outnumbered those of European ancestry early in the colonial period, to thrive at the expense of the native population and gradually assimilated, voluntarily or by force, the indigenous populations spread across Latin America.
This was a long process since many native population remained autonomous for centuries and by then mestizos where the overwhelming majority.

@@lemfarba4827, *The Aztec nation of Mexico* is the *11th economic engine of the world* and is about to take 10th place away from France! The power of Mexico still has enormous growth left, Spain has stagnated. Enjoy watching Mexico become a world super power!

@@03Terrestre Wrong. Any economic power mexico might have comes from one thing and one thing only - Being a source of cheap labor for U.S. companies. There are no prestigious or respected mexican companies or brands. Mexico is also not a source of invention or innovation. Despite having a population of 129 million people, mexico has only won one Nobel Prize in the scientific category (physics, medicine, chemistry and economics). That means mexico has given virtually nothing to the modern world. Despite sharing a border with the world's largest economy, mexico is still a third world nation that had over 31,000 murders in 2017. Enjoy watching mexico remain a crime infested, corrupt, banana republic.

@@kevinc5786, Those immigrants are not Mexicans, they are Central Americans trying to immigrate into Mexico's much better economy, yes, Mexico's 11th largest economy in the world. Mexico towers over Spain's economy, FACT.

@@kevinc5786, The US wrecked Central American economies, now Mexico towers over them, that's why there is a never ending influx of poor Central American immigrants into Mexico, but even then Mexico has been able to absorb them. Mexico is definitely on it's way to become a world superpower, Central America is going to end up being annexed to Mexico if this influx continues.

I love how this videos celebrates the acceptance and tolerance that the Spanish conquistadors practiced after they took large amounts of land from Native Americans. Hell, let's celebrate the Armenian Genocide or the Holocaust. Those two events show just how tolerant and nice people.
By the way, I'm definitely not being sarcastic.

@@JMAN97712 The rituals were carried out against prisoners by the elite not the general population. The number cited by some academics are ridiculous because if true they would have wiped out their population within a few years. There were countless on-going bloody wars in Europe during the Dark Ages, with millions killed, and not many decades of peace in between. Not saying it’s right but at the end of the day, a dead enemy is a dead enemy whether it happens in a battlefield or at another location and time. Heretics were burnt at the stake in Europe as well as minorities killed by the Inquisition. Furthermore after the fall of the Aztecs indigenous prisoners dying from diseases were tortured by Europeans and those that survived the pandemics were worked to death, to the point slaves from Africa had to be imported. Nobody has a moral high ground in regards to atrocities.
