The music of course by great Hans Zimmer!

Not only was Spanish documentation detailed but it was also accurate. Some historians accused Conquistador accounts of giant Aztec skull towers in their capital containing 60,000 sacrificed victims as attempts to demonise the Aztecs... until excavations of the sites in Mexico City in 2015 revealed thousands of skulls with more continuing to be unearthed to the present day.

Probably left over from their Roman occupation.
Rome is so thoroughly chronicled due in no small part to their elites and businessmen being absolutely anal about records and documents. Spain being the same way would explain their success as a world power during the Renaissance and Age of Sail.

The spanish were the first European country to pass laws protecting the rights of natives. They did this not long after actually arriving in the new world and wellllllll before any other european nation did. 99% of the time if someone from a Spanish speaking country is bitching about the Spanish they probably have spanish heritage themselves and live in a nation built up by the spanish with many spanish cultural customs. More like the United States, they are the ones who make the rules now. The British feel strong because they have the United States on their side, that's all. Anyway I love to see how half of the United States has cities and states with Spanish names. Or how much of the southern United States speaks Spanish and that the solution for the United States is to manipulate all Latino Americans through teaching, indoctrinating new Latino Americans to hate the Spanish empire because they are afraid of losing the control of the country in the coming decades in favor of Hispanics. Maintaining the American hegemony in the world, not the British, now with current technology makes it easier than maintaining an Empire 10,000 km away where each communication took two or three months to reach its destination, this makes it very difficult keep the order.

As an Englishman, what I loved about these scenes is how they show that the British Empire really was still the underdog at this point. Generally a Briton was still regarded as a "pirata y heretic" by the Spaniards, and with good reason. The Spaniards were the power that made the world tremble, and any good honest pirate knew to pick his targets very carefully when Spanish ships were in the waters. It was largely fear of the Spanish that motivated the British to build an empire in the first place, and you really get that impression here. The fact they're depicted as being so gracious towards their defeated enemies is the icing on the cake. I have a lot of admiration for Spain and its accomplishments.

If you were truly remorseful, then you wouldn't do it again. But until one draws their final breath, it is not too late to seek forgiveness.

@@Austrian_Butcher If that's the case, why did the Spanish let the remaining British soldiers and even the pirates go? Weren't they also enemies to the faith, therefore needed to die? It's one thing to destroy the temple, I wholeheartedly agree with it's destruction. However, that man was unarmed and not threatening him or his soldiers; just making a declaration. The Spanish guy killed him just to get him to shut up; he could of just wounded him with an nonfatal shot (like to the leg), or commanded his men to grab him and pull him away.
Thou shall not kill is one of God's commandments. I was taught that the only time it is permissible to take another person's life is either in self defense or when in war with a people who seek to wipe us out. Even then, never raise your weapon to unarmed innocent civilians, especially children. I hardly call a guy holding a flag declaring something belongs to their king threatening the faith. Blackbeard had no faith, just cowardice and arrogance... and not only does the Spaniard call him out on it *to his face,* but it ends up biting him square in the ass when Jack offered him to save his daughter.

I like the Spanish plot twist in this film. The beginning and the chalice heist scene made it as if they're interested in using this Fountain of Youth for some reason. The king of Spain looks very inquisitive at the wrecked seaman, not to mention the hurried tone that the king speaks to Jack Sparrow that implies that the Spaniards are up to something with that Fountain. The captain examining the chalices intently, as if he's pondering at what power it could bestow him.
Then plot twist. They're just there to destroy the whole thing. I say that's a very well done plot twist.

A failed empire does not last 300 years... it simply disappeared, as all empires did and will. There are simply cycles in life. Spain empire has been one of the greatest and most influential.
Now, I understand your quote, but I find it a pitty that someone realizes of something just by a 3 minute TH-cam video, instead of by reading or getting a proper education. I find we live in one of the most ignorant times in human kind, despite having more means and technology than ever

When you think about it, it's kind of funny. All that fuss from the British Empire trying to stop "a melancholy Spanish monarch, a catholic, gaining eternal life" and then it turns out that the Spanish never wanted to use that, they just wanted to destroy it. All those resourses, and all those lives lost, all because a king got greedy....it's actually kinda funny...
