Paul, you are a skilled guitarist, and you have an amazing ear for creating some awesome sounding tones! I enjoyed your videos on the BOSS Katana and now I am really digging these Spark 40 videos as well. I own both amps and find your videos very helpful. Thanks for posting!
Thanks Paul, I didn't know how to avoid cutouts so am glad you brought that problem up. I only had my wee amp for couple of days so still learning it all.
Best video tutorial on jamming to Spark ! I just came into this tutorial-video not knowing about what Spark had to offer as for as soloing to backing tracks! You really did a superb job showing Spark delivers!
Many thanks Paul! Ive had a Spark 40 for a long time but never bothered to try and get to grips with it. Now I know where I am going! Its just incredible what this thing will do, and the recording side of things is all dropping into place, thanks to a lot of what you have demonstrated here. Regards, Jules (Julian Wilson)
Paul, as usual, providing valuable insights into how to manipulate sounds/fx on the Spark (or any amp, for that matter) to get your desired tone. Really nice playing on this vid as well. Clean, defined lead which builds when he flips to the bridge pup. No spaghetti, nothing over the top, just solid lead work. Great vid Paul. thanks.
Just seen this as Ive just bought the Spark amp - what an excellent tutorial. I wisomeone would do a series on what this amp can do for the benefit of us newbies to this amp. Enjoyed your vid greatly.
I've had my Spark40 for a few months, but I so far have just used it as an amp. I absolutely love it! Still have to explore all of its other features. (I've never really liked compressors, but the Red Compressor on this is MAGIC!)
When I first played with the Spark, I thought it was a piece of junk. I'd borrowed it from a friend and either he screwed up all the presets, or I did. Anyway, I did a factory reset, and a firmware upgrade, and wow!! I couldn't believe the difference. I think the noise gate was turned up way to high on most of them. I particularly like some of the cloud presets you can get. There is one that simulates a Fender Princeton which I thought was out of sight! The preset for acoustic guitar was really nice, too. I couldn't stop playing!!!
Hi Paul, I really appreciate this video. I am a new Spark owner and there are so many potential combinations, it's easy to get a bit lost. These two tones are just what I was looking for. Cheers
@@TheStudioRats I don't have a "main amp" as I record everything either into my MPC One or through my Line 6 Audio interface. I feel this would give me the "pick up and Play" option for Guitar, similar to how having a piano in the living room instinctively makes you play more as it excludes the "out of site, out of mind" mentality!
I find that the further away from the Spark I am, the better. I’m generally within a couple feet but a couple weeks ago a broke out a 20’ cable so I could watch a football game and jam at the same time. Everything was so much broader and for the first time I could really differentiate between the subtle tweaks I was making. It’s a permanent thing now!
Hi Paul, great playing and great tones mate, ordered mine Nov 27th, says it ships around 17th Dec, not gonna hold my breath after reading all the comments about delivery but fingers crossed
It's so awesome. Especially for someone like me who hasn't played for years and years. Able to see and try all different effects amps pedals etc while not having to buy to try!
Hi Paul love the video however need to know what settings you have on the spark amp itself ,eg it in on crunch or clean, and are the settings shown at the beginning on top of the amp the same as when you set up the tone patches ?
Thanks Paul that has been very helpful. Like the other comments this is the tone I have been looking for. I am a new Spark Grid owner. Question? Are you saving the rythem tone seperately from the lead tone so that you can change back and forth when needed. I purchased the spark grid stomp pedal and would like to be able to switch from rythem to lead. Please let me know your thoughts.
Amazing piece of gear. Looking forward to getting one soon. It's just incredible what's happening with guitar technology these days. They really need to up their game on the drum and bass sounds though- shouldn't be that hard with the endless amount of great samples available- too bad you can't upload your own sounds or tweak the built-in ones.
Hello, House!😂 You can tweak the built-in ones however you like, save it as a new tone, or overwrite the factory one. If by “upload,” you mean “download more tones to your amp,” there are over 10,000 currently in the Tone Cloud to choose from, which Positive Grid and thousands of Spark owners have uploaded. You can tweak all of them as much as you like and, again, save as new, overwrite, and so on.
@@jamesthe-doctor8981 Oh, I was referring to the built-in bass and drum sounds on the smart jam feature, when it creates a pattern to accompany your riffs. Not to the guitar tones themselves.
@@whatwouldhousedo5136 hahaa! Now that I’ve read it again, I see what you mean. I agree, and I’ll bet they change that with the next version they make, or possibly the one after that. Being their first foray into amplifiers, and with it being mainly designed for practice and learning rather than performing, I can see why they didn’t develop the rhythm section further than they did. You can assign any “Tone” (that’s what a “patch” or “preset” is most referred to as in the Spark community,) to any of the four preset buttons on the Spark’s top panel when you save it to your app. It prompts you to save as new, overwrite the existing, or save to one of the preset buttons.
