I've had griefers fresh from gta come at me at lv 2 thinking they could just spray and pray me. Not so easy against dual le mats and the gunslinger and Horseman perks.

Had to introduce a level 5 to dynamite arrows yesterday. I had just got done with a trader mission. I understand if you want to intercept the delivery, but once the mission is done stop shooting at me.
My favorites are the ones who shoot you and you just destroy them hands down. Then they keep coming back like they stand a chance. You're level 5 and I killed you 47 times already. Just parley already. 😔
As someone who was there for the chaos of the RDO Beta + beginning of release, I made a vow to never become one of those high level players who just kill other players for fun. I only ever kill low level people (below 50) in self defense, but once they attack me it's no holding back until they leave the session. This community doesn't want the toxicity of GTA sessions leaking into RDO.
Thank you for that. I respect people like you far more than those that go around killing low level players when they all know they don't stand a chance. It's nice to see there are some good guys around too which hold the power to destroy, but choose not to
I'm gonna be honest, I got the game a few weeks ago and have experienced vastly more toxicity and hackers and griefers in this game than GTA, but I don't care - because it's a video game.
The very first time I logged on to RDO I got taken on a bounty by someone at a much higher level, got a few free levels and a nice chunk of change. The second time I logged on I got a face full of flaming buckshot courtesy of a different higher level player while minding my own business walking around St Denis. Yesterday I was harassed by two much higher level players who insisted on tracking me and another low-level friend of mine down no matter where we went.. griefers and rude people in general are in every game, unfortunately.
Same here. I've only played RDO twice so was basically still entry level. I kept myself to myself and got killed by a high level player while I was minding my own business. That was over a year ago and I've never been back to RDO.

I will be honest, I don't know how to enjoy RDROnline, I have grown tired of shooter games so I tend to stay away from missions like that. I also have very little clue what to do in the game because it really isn't like any other open world game I've played. I didn't like the story of RDR2 so I gave up on it after you get drunk with the half-breed guy, I thought Online would be different but I have to say, it has been a real hard game to get into...which is saying something because I thought RDR was hands down the best video game I have ever played.
Theres not enough content to keep assholes entertained I have a fuck ton of money, and have fun fishing, hunting, and poker. I think these individuals suck at pvp so they use free roam as a crutch. Just play online pvp for kills loser lol.
Beneficial for lower level players to take advantage of a posse. Usually an honorable posse will be the ones to avoid conflict of other griefers and grind missions for XP/$$$/Gold.
I play solo, and when I started playing was getting greifed like crazy and wasn’t super good at pvp, I watched your tutorials and my playing style improved massively, I can now 1v8 and hold my own. Thanks for putting in the time to show us how to become deadly gunslingers and making cash and gold .
i had to go solo, never went back. no pvp except with friends. as lvl 1 to 10 i was being griefed non stop. couldnt progress at all, log in get jumped by high levels. like they bores so lets pick on the noobs. legit go solo or stop playing due to griefers. the do not attack random players its the other way around the high levels picking on the noobs. as a lvl 6 why cant i go hunting for some dirt cash to upgrade my first gun? lol see my point? just get jumped by a player. lasso a player that jumps you, unload on him as hes tied up. legit 4 bullets to kill him cuz his health is leveled up and yours isnt, only for him to respawn instantly and gun you down as you hop on your horse to ride away. after killing him for jumping you lol
I remember getting ambushed by a 3 man posse when I was trying to do a resupply for my Trader camp. I realized that they were pretty low level because they were surprisingly missing their shots a lot and I managed to successfully resupply my camp as well after some time of fighting them. I know they were low level, but I was more proud of the fact that I was able to resupply my camp at least after the exchange. Very satisfying.
I'm glad the community has got a lot more friendlier. The last time I played, about 6 months ago, making deliveries or other missions it was anxiety inducing hoping you didn't get head shoted by a sniper or chased by a posse. I may start playing again. I still have a lot to do online
My first day playing was a couple days ago and I didn't experience a friendly community, what I got was blown up randomly for over 5 minutes straight (it was funny the first time) then later a different player whose name was invisible and you couldn't see them on the map tped to my friend and I using a gatling gun of a rifle to try killing us but when we were getting away they kept tping to us till they killed us, we spawn back in and they immediatly blow us up and force my game to crash. I just wanted to mind my own bussiness and play with my friend lmao
I found one the best/hilarious ways to deal with some of this is to shoot a griefer's horse right away (if they're on a horse) and take off. It's so annoying because it takes time to get up, revive the horse or call up a new one.
0:25 "Friendly community" the literally first thing that happened to me when I joined RDR2 was getting snipped by a random guy. I didn't have a chance to even call a horse lmao
When I see these types of comments I get confused cuz I have spent 1 and a half years playing this game and I never got griefed all the players I met have been friendly.
I’m paranoid cause I get griefed every other time I play by other low levels… I don’t like interacting with people cause 50% of the time, I get shot at. Here’s the thing: I used to be over level 100 (I bought it when it was preorder, did not have a lot of time to play it so that why so low) back on my Xbox before it broke on me. I now play on my ps4 pro cause I bought rdr2 when it was on sale… so I know how to play the game and what to do to get money and gold to buy better weapons. So when I get griefed I usually win. If I die it’s because I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t react fast enough. But then I get revenge and headshot the person who killed me. I remember back on my Xbox, I was doing a free roam mission and a guy attacked me, I would kill him and he kept coming back. I legit killed him like 10 times by the time I finished the mission. 😂
I use defense mode and anytime people try to grief me, that lets me turn the tables really fast. Just carry a few explosive rounds in your pocket for griefers. If they attack first you'll stay in defensive, which gives you a huge advantage.
I only got griefed once and the jerk even got my ip address and threatened me at my home through Xbox. Everyone else has been courteous. And some role playing. It’s fun when people are mature and normal.
The good thing about the RDO community, is that often high-level players will help out starting players. If I see a newbie (especially newbie Traders) as I ride by, I'll come back with a 3-star pelt or carcass to help them out. Hell, I've delivered a Legendary carcass to a new player, just to see their reaction. 😁
You are one of the very rare cool players that rdo needs more of! I do the same thing, but lately there are so many griefers its making the game unplayable.
In GTA online, when I see a rando selling, I hover over them in the new stealth jet and defend them. They may not even know I'm there unless another player attacks them.

It's funny because as a new player myself, I never do anything to anyone but people just love messing with me. I tried defensive mode before but while doing bounty hunter, people can still somehow kill me which is really annoying, especially since some of them do not seem to receive any damage lol. I just learned to "Parley".

I've only ever been killed/attacked by a player directly ONE time.. I'm definitely lucky for that. However, I have been blown up randomly by what I at the time assumed to be a hacker. I'm now realizing it was probably just someone at a high vantage point with explosive arrows. But the game didn't tell me I was killed by anyone so it was probably _still_ a hacker.
Last month as a new lvl 7 a group of lvl100's were griefing me until a gang if day one players swung by and stomped them. Absolutely made my day now I go out if my way to help ppl
@@c.fyffe0 The RDRO community is mostly really friendly and kind. There are some players who shoot others and ask questions later but most people don't shoot unless they are being attacked. I help low levels with money by sending them a posse invite and starting my trader sell mission. Now that it's still 2x money it can give them a lot of money.

Once a low level attacked me in valentine and there is a glitch where you can stuck them in the bank and its fun to see them trying to shoot you or open the doors
Onr thing I like to do is hunt 3-star cougars to give to starting traders. Sometimes, the player doesn't know how to react and leaves the carcass behind. For low level players, even if you don't have the trader role, the carcass can be sold to butcher for decent cash. So, if someone offers you hunting spoils, take them.

About 1st mistake. I've had many encounters when they show up as blue on the map and when they come close to me they turn to red and shoot me. And they are not even low level players. Most of them are really high level. So I'm not surprised that low level players shoot at sight. I've been playing story mode now for a week cause I got so frustrated to avoiding other players and getting shot all the time. I try to remember to play in defence mode every time I log on but after some missions it has to be activated again, so it's easy to forget. I'll go back to online mode when I feel like it again.
When I started RDO shortly after the beta phase, I came out of the character creator, a brand new level 7 and was immediately attacked by a level 800+! I had no chance trying to defend myself while the guy just stood there and laughed and killed me multiple times. I was fed up and almost quitted the game after that first experience. Thank god I stayed! Became member of a crew and they helped me and we had a lot of fun! Miss those times! Nowadays I‘m nearly a level 600 and I rarely play RDO because everyone stopped playing and it became dull but when I go online, there is always the odd player who attacks my female character. Most of them Arab and French players. 😒 Usually I get a quick revenge and then change lobbies after reporting those idiots. It’s not fun anymore.
@@onlyrightopinion148 No, not if they grief you. If people want to attack other players, they should join the PVP-modes. Griefing is not wanted and tolerated in RDO! You can attack players during deliveries, that’s OK but not just like that. And Rockstar had banned a lot of players because of excessive griefing, so yes, reporting griefers is OK.
Personally I rarely deal with toxic players, I get killed for opening my map or starting a bounty and I ignore it. I never get chased and I carry on with my game
Recently I been playing on solo lobby with MTU connection,everything spawns like hot cakes,even rare random events with NPCs that never spawns in full lobbies.

I like how you addressed the issue and hope some low level players will take it into consideration because it’s like you said, the RDO community is friendly….for the most part and it’s not okay to attack other players for no reason.
Since Invite Only lobbies have become so common, the GTAO griefers need somewhere to go and they think RDO is the place. Their attention span is short, something else will come along. My favorite ones are the idiots that message you :" Dude, it's the wild west, people just ran around killing each other." Clearly some people don't know history.
I only play story mode, which I think is amazing. I tried online, but some players did a hack. They were able to enter my camp and lasso me. They then proceeded to drag me around by horse. Hysterical as it was, still kind of killed it for me. Took the fun out of it. That was over a year ago, maybe players have stopped?
@@algoner4421 it just depends. For the most part, I don’t encounter griefers but it happens occasionally. I’ve played since beta but haven’t been playing at all lately because I got burned out with no new content. I’ve played story mode several times through and is still my favorite by far.
@@algoner4421 Depends on the platform, but I hear PC is (obviously) the worst and I hear the PlayStation community is the best, although I don't know because I play on XBOX. Most of the time when I play it is free of experiences as you describe, but it does happen. The only way I know to truly get out of that situation is to Quick Join any game mode. But if you're playing on PC then it truly is the wild west and we all know how concerned R* is with dealing with modders unless they're IMPROVING the game.
I just started the game and I've been real friendly but all I've met is high level players that run up kill me then follow me around the map killing me
I once (level 56) got attacked by a low level (20) and they called in their friends (level 300 and 400 griefers) who I've actually seen in a lobby before which was weird for me because I beat them before and one person with a crap gun isn't changing it.
I definitely 100% agree on the first point, every time I get attacked it’s always a lower level no matter what considering that I’m a level 447 in the game but oh well. I thought of it in my head as a little introduction to them saying welcome to the Wild West rookie! 😂😂😂
I logged on a few days ago and was constantly messed with by a higher level character. It started with them trying to lasso me, then I kept trying to get away from him but he would not leave me alone, we get into a shoot out, he kills me then decides to hunt me down every time I log on....Yeah, that is my first real experience in RDO and is not something that makes one eager to play. When I did make it back in, I now avoid every blue dot I see...talk about a warm welcome to Red Dead Online
I am 510 and also get other higher level griefers attacking me for nothing. Just griefers. Really hate them! Why people get off on ruining others game time is beyond me.
It's just pixels really, nothing gets hurt or lost. When my wife gets annoyed she ties them up, eats some cattails which makes her sick, she pukes on the dude then rides off. It's hilarious!
When you are at that level, mostly low level will attack you, for me it was a high level fully decked, killing me 100 times, he found a way to disable my defensive and still kill me.
I had a lot of trouble using the lasso getting started. I use mouse and keyboard and didn’t know after you aim and release mouse button to toss lasso you have to left click and hold or lasso won’t latch onto your target. Very frustrating before I found out about this tip. I think it was a PvP Cat video that told me this, actually! 😅
it used to be way more before the daily challenge nerf..i used to get a full bar if you kept your streak..i got to day 544 on my streak,some friends have almost 570 days...i quit rdr2 in april of last yr and had logged 9,229 hrs last time i checked

it's good to know that the RDO community is more PvE oriented honestly since unlike GTAO there is no truly solo or friends only instances to choose from so that's been the biggest turn off for me and my dad trying it, we just want to roam around and do cowboy things not have to worry about getting hit from the back or side while on a mission, plus from my understanding RDO has a lot more PvE ways to progress the story anyway
Yeah it can be a chore but when I avoid places like the southwest St Denis and Valentine I have alot more fun. PVP battles drive up my blood pressure too much to be enjoyable for me.
Getting shot used to bother me when I first started the game until I realized when I respawned, nothing was damaged, didn't lose anything. If you are attacked while doing a Crip's delivery, reset immediately, you will be moved to a new server, your delivery will be reset, and you can try again. There will always be griefers in this kind of game but the key is not letting them drag you down, only thing that gets 'hurt' are pixels. Best of luck to you!
I can't agree more. Though if you visit valentine during peak gaming hours it's still a warzone. Playing on defensive mode makes for a hilarious show of me casually doing my shopping stroll at valentine. while everyone with a blue dot over their heads are shooting each other to death.
The community is definitely not friendly. I can just be sitting there about to sell stuff or about to hunt somthing and I get headshoted by stacks of people. Or they just constantly greef me
I just got rdr2 a couple days ago, but I was level 200+ on my stadia account before they shut it down, and somehow I still find helpful advice in your videos, Even if I already knew something, you help refresh the memory.
I actually had the opposite happen to me…. I’m new to rdo, level 15 to be exact, and I was just minding my own business in Rhodes a couple days ago about to fast travel and this level 135 came up out of nowhere, hopped off their horse, pointed their gun at me, then proceeded to pull me off my horse and end my life with their shotgun…. I figured I must have done something wrong although had no idea what but I pressed charges (which was something I didn’t know you could do) only for them to come find me after I respawned, hogtie me and place my hopeless noob self on the train tracks right in front of an oncoming train…. Needless to say I was very confused 🫤 lol it was kinda funny though I have to admit 😅

@@Django84 im still fairly new (level 78) but in my experiences having my gun out as a precaution has gotten me shot more times than when I just let the player either pass by or do whatever they’re planning to do 😂🫠 it doesnt really bother me anymore i just hop in another session if i get griefed. It is annoying when it happens multiple times in a short time span though

I am low level in this game and it's the higher level guys that grief the hell out of me when I'm just trying to make some early money doing missions and hunting. And just like in real life, all those types hang out in the towns bad cities.
PVP is a part of the game, but personally I want no part of it. Dedicated events are one thing but open world PVP has no personal appeal. The only times I get into revenge mode is when someone critically injures or kills my horse or if they mess with me during a trader delivery. The risk vs reward levels don't seem worth it to me, so I stick to the local deliveries just to not have that headache. My worst experience was when someone planted dynamite on my moonshine delivery while the collection agents were inspecting it. Never understood why people want to grief like that. Perhaps it's funny from their perspective but I'm a more of a "do unto others" type player.
They torch your wagon just for fun,and it is always when you are hunting or delivery,doesn't matter.I went back on last week and after 1 hour same old shit.

Man today i was with a friend of mine wh was a newbie and i tried getting a boat for fun and i got shot with a scoped carbine repeater... lvl 24 pisse leader lvl 13 member... my friend got them easily cuz i helped him get tonics etc and i it wasnt even a challenge they couldnt do anything and they were quite skilled but man its sad seeibg them have ptsd frim gta lobbies

As a newbie, less than 10, I've been shot in the back by guys over level 200. It makes me angry, spending hours trying to get some pelt only for it all to be wasted over some jerk. I was even trying to outrun him on my horse, I wasn't trying to fight. I can't even travel to town without getting shot from high levels. It's not fun.
3 rules for staying alive in RDO 3. Run to safe zone under gunfire, like shops, train stations and fast travels. 2. Keep your distance from other players unless friendly. 1. Treat everyone as a possible threat.
Just use the parlay button. U lose nothing and all the efforts to bypass it not only buys u time, but makes even the most persistent, trigger-happy players move on before long.
Why R* allowed auto aim in a shooter is beyond me. Takes away the skill of the player, the reality of a gun fight not just bang bang 2 dead. The game would been a lot more realistic and enjoyable without all the aids and auto aim. My 2 cents
it literally just gives you kills for pressing 2 buttons for the most part. its annoying as hell getting one shotted with a bow with pib and auto aim and then they talk ab skill
@memes arehealthy You want a life like representation of the time period. Where you had to be a crack shot to win gunfights, had real physics and human error in those you won and lost. Not superhero/god like type outcomes with auto aim, cards and tonics. Imo would made a better all round game for everyone
Its a really good guide. I godt smacked down a lot of time, having noidea where I spawned in then no ammo, no food dead horse. NO clue at all. So if anyone ask me should I play RD2 online in 2023, I would say yes but spend 10min watching this clip, or spend 10houres learning it by yourself.
I would love to know what lobbies your playing in to run into mostly friendly players cause xbox nah they just attack get stabbed come back stabbed again while trying too shoot me and fail.
Know the vid is older now. But definitely has to be stated. If you want to attack people DO PvP, instead of sucker punching people just trying to enjoy the game. I’m definitely one of those players who will randomly help traders safely make it. Or help people during missions. After you make money, hope into PvP side to get good. The. Open world to help newer players/boost them through the grind.
At rank 34, I’ve never stopped looting every corpse I make. When doing bounties and wanting to let the timer run out a little, I will ride slowly to the turn in, and kill reinforcements as they come to save their friend.
Also that defensive mode tip another thibg to add is also some stranger missions will activate offensive mode so make sure to check the bottom left area of your screen to make sure you don't get put in offensive mode if you don't want to
As a new player, all that I recommend is grinding Blood Money missions, get Navy Revolver, and lancaster. Im almost getting the Lancaster and I have a feeling it will be good. When you have 15GN, go get bounty hunter.
I reset my character a few weeks ago and I can tell that Collector role should be priority after bountyhunter (or first with free gold) if you need the first few level and dollar fast. Just use jeanropke map and auto pilot :D
O got to say that pvp in this game is minimal, most of players are friendly with ocasional tryhard, I'm playing for few weeks now and I was attacked less than 5 times by that time. In gta online this number would be like every other player has a high chance yo randomly attack

low level griefers just annoyin, usually doin stuff in forest parts near Valentine, but have to go to deserts near Tumbleweed sometimes, and there is always some newbies willing to kill me for no reason whatsoever lol
Unfortunately there can be an issue with higher level players going after newer players. I remember a specific group of players who dressed up in all pink and did everything they could to destroy the experience for newer players. Which...if you like the game and want it to continue existing with updates (even with take two's a-holery about it), then you need new players. Destroying the experience for them, making them decide it's not worth it playing...that's exactly how to get a game shut down. It's better for the higher level players to be merciful to the lower level ones. (as long as the lower level ones aren't starting anything) because then they'll be more likely to stay and again, keep the game supported for years to come.
I came to rdr wit a gta mentality when it first came out, long story short nowaday I just restore order when gta folk come around these parts acting up😂😂😂
Advice for beginners (are there any on RDO?) The most important item you can get in the beginning is the fishing rod. Fishing gives you health xp, and is the fastest way to max your health.
The player base is so different in RDO and GTA Online. When I’m in RDO, players just wave an emote and sometimes help even when they know they aren’t gonna get anything out of it. In GTA Online, players will kill you every opportunity they get. The RDO fan base will forever be less toxic.
I played a lot of TheHunter and started Hunting in RDO. I constantly aim for the Lungs cuz it's the best way to take down an animal in TheHunter. It feels weird going for headshots ngl
Beginners might be bad however, the most pathetic are the high levels who kill you or hogtie near a teleport post then leave. I mean, I get they're bad at the game and don't want me to ruin them after.
actually I find it's the other way round. older players attack new players who are at a lower level. and Red Dead redemption is not passive it's toxic like GTA online. that's why I quit playing Red Dead redemption online

“Players are friendly” The first day I started level 5 some “friendly” player (a griefer) kept hunting me and killing me about 3 times on Xbox. Yeah. “Friendly”. I was doing nothing but trying to do a bounty from the bounty board (which the times are bs btw) I plan to try and get the onyx wolf coat some day! My friend has it on their game and it looks amazing.
Recently I've been getting attacked by random low levels. I find that sending a strong message by bolasing them, hogtieing them with the reinforced lasso, and then blowing them up with a dynamite arrow is quite effective. If they come back with the intention of seeking revenge, then a simple long range headshot from the Bounty Hunter Lemat revolver "usually" gets the point across.

Had to introduce a level 5 to dynamite arrows yesterday. I had just got done with a trader mission. I understand if you want to intercept the delivery, but once the mission is done stop shooting at me.
I like it as it gives me something to kill for a few minutes to waste time so let the low levels come I say..
My favorites are the ones who shoot you and you just destroy them hands down. Then they keep coming back like they stand a chance. You're level 5 and I killed you 47 times already. Just parley already. 😔
Also cleaning your weapons is pretty important because they lose power when dirty.

Especially important with Bolt Action Rifle as headshots are not one shot kills with certain animals if the gun gets too dirty.

As someone who was there for the chaos of the RDO Beta + beginning of release, I made a vow to never become one of those high level players who just kill other players for fun. I only ever kill low level people (below 50) in self defense, but once they attack me it's no holding back until they leave the session. This community doesn't want the toxicity of GTA sessions leaking into RDO.
Thank you for that. I respect people like you far more than those that go around killing low level players when they all know they don't stand a chance. It's nice to see there are some good guys around too which hold the power to destroy, but choose not to

The very first time I logged on to RDO I got taken on a bounty by someone at a much higher level, got a few free levels and a nice chunk of change. The second time I logged on I got a face full of flaming buckshot courtesy of a different higher level player while minding my own business walking around St Denis. Yesterday I was harassed by two much higher level players who insisted on tracking me and another low-level friend of mine down no matter where we went.. griefers and rude people in general are in every game, unfortunately.
That is my most recent experience too, higher level players just messing with me for no reason.
Same here. I've only played RDO twice so was basically still entry level. I kept myself to myself and got killed by a high level player while I was minding my own business. That was over a year ago and I've never been back to RDO.
Did any of you ever think about switching sessions and sparing yourself the hassle?

I will be honest, I don't know how to enjoy RDROnline, I have grown tired of shooter games so I tend to stay away from missions like that. I also have very little clue what to do in the game because it really isn't like any other open world game I've played. I didn't like the story of RDR2 so I gave up on it after you get drunk with the half-breed guy, I thought Online would be different but I have to say, it has been a real hard game to get into...which is saying something because I thought RDR was hands down the best video game I have ever played.

I have a fuck ton of money, and have fun fishing, hunting, and poker. I think these individuals suck at pvp so they use free roam as a crutch. Just play online pvp for kills loser lol.
Beneficial for lower level players to take advantage of a posse. Usually an honorable posse will be the ones to avoid conflict of other griefers and grind missions for XP/$$$/Gold.
The only issue is, they all start acting stupid and running around their camp killing each other. I get posse invites often but cba.

I play solo, and when I started playing was getting greifed like crazy and wasn’t super good at pvp, I watched your tutorials and my playing style improved massively, I can now 1v8 and hold my own. Thanks for putting in the time to show us how to become deadly gunslingers and making cash and gold .

i had to go solo, never went back. no pvp except with friends. as lvl 1 to 10 i was being griefed non stop. couldnt progress at all, log in get jumped by high levels. like they bores so lets pick on the noobs.
legit go solo or stop playing due to griefers. the do not attack random players its the other way around the high levels picking on the noobs. as a lvl 6 why cant i go hunting for some dirt cash to upgrade my first gun? lol see my point? just get jumped by a player. lasso a player that jumps you, unload on him as hes tied up. legit 4 bullets to kill him cuz his health is leveled up and yours isnt, only for him to respawn instantly and gun you down as you hop on your horse to ride away. after killing him for jumping you lol
I remember getting ambushed by a 3 man posse when I was trying to do a resupply for my Trader camp. I realized that they were pretty low level because they were surprisingly missing their shots a lot and I managed to successfully resupply my camp as well after some time of fighting them. I know they were low level, but I was more proud of the fact that I was able to resupply my camp at least after the exchange. Very satisfying.
I'm glad the community has got a lot more friendlier. The last time I played, about 6 months ago, making deliveries or other missions it was anxiety inducing hoping you didn't get head shoted by a sniper or chased by a posse. I may start playing again. I still have a lot to do online
My first day playing was a couple days ago and I didn't experience a friendly community, what I got was blown up randomly for over 5 minutes straight (it was funny the first time) then later a different player whose name was invisible and you couldn't see them on the map tped to my friend and I using a gatling gun of a rifle to try killing us but when we were getting away they kept tping to us till they killed us, we spawn back in and they immediatly blow us up and force my game to crash. I just wanted to mind my own bussiness and play with my friend lmao

I found one the best/hilarious ways to deal with some of this is to shoot a griefer's horse right away (if they're on a horse) and take off. It's so annoying because it takes time to get up, revive the horse or call up a new one.

I get griefed just about every time I get on RDO . And I do my best to avoid areas that have people.
Honestly I started playing again and it got wayyy better got griefed just once within 3 days
When I see these types of comments I get confused cuz I have spent 1 and a half years playing this game and I never got griefed all the players I met have been friendly.
I’m paranoid cause I get griefed every other time I play by other low levels… I don’t like interacting with people cause 50% of the time, I get shot at. Here’s the thing: I used to be over level 100 (I bought it when it was preorder, did not have a lot of time to play it so that why so low) back on my Xbox before it broke on me. I now play on my ps4 pro cause I bought rdr2 when it was on sale… so I know how to play the game and what to do to get money and gold to buy better weapons. So when I get griefed I usually win. If I die it’s because I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t react fast enough. But then I get revenge and headshot the person who killed me. I remember back on my Xbox, I was doing a free roam mission and a guy attacked me, I would kill him and he kept coming back. I legit killed him like 10 times by the time I finished the mission. 😂
I use defense mode and anytime people try to grief me, that lets me turn the tables really fast. Just carry a few explosive rounds in your pocket for griefers. If they attack first you'll stay in defensive, which gives you a huge advantage.
I only got griefed once and the jerk even got my ip address and threatened me at my home through Xbox. Everyone else has been courteous. And some role playing. It’s fun when people are mature and normal.
The good thing about the RDO community, is that often high-level players will help out starting players. If I see a newbie (especially newbie Traders) as I ride by, I'll come back with a 3-star pelt or carcass to help them out. Hell, I've delivered a Legendary carcass to a new player, just to see their reaction. 😁

It's funny because as a new player myself, I never do anything to anyone but people just love messing with me. I tried defensive mode before but while doing bounty hunter, people can still somehow kill me which is really annoying, especially since some of them do not seem to receive any damage lol. I just learned to "Parley".
Seems like mostly high level players attack low level at this point. Can’t tell you how many times they do it. Then they kill your horse.
Damn I was hoping this would have changed by now. I’ve been putting off RDO because of that. Don’t wanna put in the hours of learning RDO if I’m just gonna get gunned down by some a**hole

I've only ever been killed/attacked by a player directly ONE time.. I'm definitely lucky for that. However, I have been blown up randomly by what I at the time assumed to be a hacker. I'm now realizing it was probably just someone at a high vantage point with explosive arrows. But the game didn't tell me I was killed by anyone so it was probably _still_ a hacker.

Last month as a new lvl 7 a group of lvl100's were griefing me until a gang if day one players swung by and stomped them. Absolutely made my day now I go out if my way to help ppl
@@c.fyffe0 The RDRO community is mostly really friendly and kind. There are some players who shoot others and ask questions later but most people don't shoot unless they are being attacked. I help low levels with money by sending them a posse invite and starting my trader sell mission. Now that it's still 2x money it can give them a lot of money.

Once a low level attacked me in valentine and there is a glitch where you can stuck them in the bank and its fun to see them trying to shoot you or open the doors

Onr thing I like to do is hunt 3-star cougars to give to starting traders. Sometimes, the player doesn't know how to react and leaves the carcass behind. For low level players, even if you don't have the trader role, the carcass can be sold to butcher for decent cash. So, if someone offers you hunting spoils, take them.

About 1st mistake. I've had many encounters when they show up as blue on the map and when they come close to me they turn to red and shoot me. And they are not even low level players. Most of them are really high level. So I'm not surprised that low level players shoot at sight. I've been playing story mode now for a week cause I got so frustrated to avoiding other players and getting shot all the time. I try to remember to play in defence mode every time I log on but after some missions it has to be activated again, so it's easy to forget. I'll go back to online mode when I feel like it again.
When I started RDO shortly after the beta phase, I came out of the character creator, a brand new level 7 and was immediately attacked by a level 800+! I had no chance trying to defend myself while the guy just stood there and laughed and killed me multiple times.
I was fed up and almost quitted the game after that first experience. Thank god I stayed! Became member of a crew and they helped me and we had a lot of fun! Miss those times!
Nowadays I‘m nearly a level 600 and I rarely play RDO because everyone stopped playing and it became dull but when I go online, there is always the odd player who attacks my female character.
Most of them Arab and French players. 😒 Usually I get a quick revenge and then change lobbies after reporting those idiots. It’s not fun anymore.

No, not if they grief you. If people want to attack other players, they should join the PVP-modes. Griefing is not wanted and tolerated in RDO!
You can attack players during deliveries, that’s OK but not just like that. And Rockstar had banned a lot of players because of excessive griefing, so yes, reporting griefers is OK.

Personally I rarely deal with toxic players, I get killed for opening my map or starting a bounty and I ignore it. I never get chased and I carry on with my game
Recently I been playing on solo lobby with MTU connection,everything spawns like hot cakes,even rare random events with NPCs that never spawns in full lobbies.
I've been doing the same, it's how the game is supposed to function. Too bad it doesn't work right with multiple players in a lobby.

I like how you addressed the issue and hope some low level players will take it into consideration because it’s like you said, the RDO community is friendly….for the most part and it’s not okay to attack other players for no reason.
Since Invite Only lobbies have become so common, the GTAO griefers need somewhere to go and they think RDO is the place. Their attention span is short, something else will come along. My favorite ones are the idiots that message you :" Dude, it's the wild west, people just ran around killing each other." Clearly some people don't know history.
I only play story mode, which I think is amazing. I tried online, but some players did a hack. They were able to enter my camp and lasso me. They then proceeded to drag me around by horse. Hysterical as it was, still kind of killed it for me. Took the fun out of it. That was over a year ago, maybe players have stopped?
@@algoner4421 it just depends. For the most part, I don’t encounter griefers but it happens occasionally. I’ve played since beta but haven’t been playing at all lately because I got burned out with no new content. I’ve played story mode several times through and is still my favorite by far.

Most of the time when I play it is free of experiences as you describe, but it does happen. The only way I know to truly get out of that situation is to Quick Join any game mode. But if you're playing on PC then it truly is the wild west and we all know how concerned R* is with dealing with modders unless they're IMPROVING the game.

I just started the game and I've been real friendly but all I've met is high level players that run up kill me then follow me around the map killing me
I once (level 56) got attacked by a low level (20) and they called in their friends (level 300 and 400 griefers) who I've actually seen in a lobby before which was weird for me because I beat them before and one person with a crap gun isn't changing it.
I definitely 100% agree on the first point, every time I get attacked it’s always a lower level no matter what considering that I’m a level 447 in the game but oh well. I thought of it in my head as a little introduction to them saying welcome to the Wild West rookie! 😂😂😂
I logged on a few days ago and was constantly messed with by a higher level character. It started with them trying to lasso me, then I kept trying to get away from him but he would not leave me alone, we get into a shoot out, he kills me then decides to hunt me down every time I log on....Yeah, that is my first real experience in RDO and is not something that makes one eager to play. When I did make it back in, I now avoid every blue dot I see...talk about a warm welcome to Red Dead Online
I am 510 and also get other higher level griefers attacking me for nothing. Just griefers. Really hate them! Why people get off on ruining others game time is beyond me.
It's just pixels really, nothing gets hurt or lost. When my wife gets annoyed she ties them up, eats some cattails which makes her sick, she pukes on the dude then rides off.

When you are at that level, mostly low level will attack you, for me it was a high level fully decked, killing me 100 times, he found a way to disable my defensive and still kill me.
I had a lot of trouble using the lasso getting started. I use mouse and keyboard and didn’t know after you aim and release mouse button to toss lasso you have to left click and hold or lasso won’t latch onto your target. Very frustrating before I found out about this tip. I think it was a PvP Cat video that told me this, actually! 😅
Sometimes I receive. 05 gold when resetting rewards. Very informative video because this awesome game is still drawing in new players 👍
it used to be way more before the daily challenge nerf..i used to get a full bar if you kept your streak..i got to day 544 on my streak,some friends have almost 570 days...i quit rdr2 in april of last yr and had logged 9,229 hrs last time i checked

it's good to know that the RDO community is more PvE oriented honestly since unlike GTAO there is no truly solo or friends only instances to choose from so that's been the biggest turn off for me and my dad trying it, we just want to roam around and do cowboy things not have to worry about getting hit from the back or side while on a mission, plus from my understanding RDO has a lot more PvE ways to progress the story anyway
I hear you, hunting is my favorite part of the game. I see no fun in free roam pvp. If people want that kind of action go play a game mode for it.
Yeah it can be a chore but when I avoid places like the southwest St Denis and Valentine I have alot more fun. PVP battles drive up my blood pressure too much to be enjoyable for me.
It's not really pve. There's a lot of griefers... Especially since it went on sale . More newbie buttholes coming on.
Getting shot used to bother me when I first started the game until I realized when I respawned, nothing was damaged, didn't lose anything.
If you are attacked while doing a Crip's delivery, reset immediately, you will be moved to a new server, your delivery will be reset, and you can try again.
There will always be griefers in this kind of game but the key is not letting them drag you down, only thing that gets 'hurt' are pixels. Best of luck to you!
I can't agree more. Though if you visit valentine during peak gaming hours it's still a warzone. Playing on defensive mode makes for a hilarious show of me casually doing my shopping stroll at valentine. while everyone with a blue dot over their heads are shooting each other to death.
The community is definitely not friendly. I can just be sitting there about to sell stuff or about to hunt somthing and I get headshoted by stacks of people. Or they just constantly greef me

I actually had the opposite happen to me…. I’m new to rdo, level 15 to be exact, and I was just minding my own business in Rhodes a couple days ago about to fast travel and this level 135 came up out of nowhere, hopped off their horse, pointed their gun at me, then proceeded to pull me off my horse and end my life with their shotgun…. I figured I must have done something wrong although had no idea what but I pressed charges (which was something I didn’t know you could do) only for them to come find me after I respawned, hogtie me and place my hopeless noob self on the train tracks right in front of an oncoming train…. Needless to say I was very confused 🫤 lol it was kinda funny though I have to admit 😅
135 isn't that high of a level, getting XP on RDRO is fairly easy. But yes, tryhards are not necessarily new players...

@@Django84 im still fairly new (level 78) but in my experiences having my gun out as a precaution has gotten me shot more times than when I just let the player either pass by or do whatever they’re planning to do 😂🫠 it doesnt really bother me anymore i just hop in another session if i get griefed. It is annoying when it happens multiple times in a short time span though

I am low level in this game and it's the higher level guys that grief the hell out of me when I'm just trying to make some early money doing missions and hunting. And just like in real life, all those types hang out in the towns bad cities.
PVP is a part of the game, but personally I want no part of it. Dedicated events are one thing but open world PVP has no personal appeal. The only times I get into revenge mode is when someone critically injures or kills my horse or if they mess with me during a trader delivery. The risk vs reward levels don't seem worth it to me, so I stick to the local deliveries just to not have that headache. My worst experience was when someone planted dynamite on my moonshine delivery while the collection agents were inspecting it. Never understood why people want to grief like that. Perhaps it's funny from their perspective but I'm a more of a "do unto others" type player.
They torch your wagon just for fun,and it is always when you are hunting or delivery,doesn't matter.I went back on last week and after 1 hour same old shit.

Man today i was with a friend of mine wh was a newbie and i tried getting a boat for fun and i got shot with a scoped carbine repeater... lvl 24 pisse leader lvl 13 member... my friend got them easily cuz i helped him get tonics etc and i it wasnt even a challenge they couldnt do anything and they were quite skilled but man its sad seeibg them have ptsd frim gta lobbies
Nah ptsd of GTA lobbies is spamming on the mini map every few seconds to see if an oppressor is flying lol

As a newbie, less than 10, I've been shot in the back by guys over level 200. It makes me angry, spending hours trying to get some pelt only for it all to be wasted over some jerk. I was even trying to outrun him on my horse, I wasn't trying to fight. I can't even travel to town without getting shot from high levels. It's not fun.
Skill issue
3 rules for staying alive in RDO
3. Run to safe zone under gunfire, like shops, train stations and fast travels.
2. Keep your distance from other players unless friendly.
1. Treat everyone as a possible threat.
Just avoided players when i’m focused on leveling up or grinding for currency. Defensive mode every chance you get and move sessions.
Just use the parlay button. U lose nothing and all the efforts to bypass it not only buys u time, but makes even the most persistent, trigger-happy players move on before long.
highly doubt every high level shoots you, guarantee you got griefed once and just generalise everyone lmao
My Posse’s motto is “we don’t hurt you if you don’t hurt us” or don’t start stuff you can’t finish
Why R* allowed auto aim in a shooter is beyond me. Takes away the skill of the player, the reality of a gun fight not just bang bang 2 dead. The game would been a lot more realistic and enjoyable without all the aids and auto aim. My 2 cents
it literally just gives you kills for pressing 2 buttons for the most part. its annoying as hell getting one shotted with a bow with pib and auto aim and then they talk ab skill

Where you had to be a crack shot to win gunfights, had real physics and human error in those you won and lost. Not superhero/god like type outcomes with auto aim, cards and tonics. Imo would made a better all round game for everyone

Its a really good guide. I godt smacked down a lot of time, having noidea where I spawned in then no ammo, no food dead horse. NO clue at all. So if anyone ask me should I play RD2 online in 2023, I would say yes but spend 10min watching this clip, or spend 10houres learning it by yourself.
I would love to know what lobbies your playing in to run into mostly friendly players cause xbox nah they just attack get stabbed come back stabbed again while trying too shoot me and fail.

If you want to attack people DO PvP, instead of sucker punching people just trying to enjoy the game.
I’m definitely one of those players who will randomly help traders safely make it. Or help people during missions.
After you make money, hope into PvP side to get good. The. Open world to help newer players/boost them through the grind.
At rank 34, I’ve never stopped looting every corpse I make. When doing bounties and wanting to let the timer run out a little, I will ride slowly to the turn in, and kill reinforcements as they come to save their friend.

Also that defensive mode tip another thibg to add is also some stranger missions will activate offensive mode so make sure to check the bottom left area of your screen to make sure you don't get put in offensive mode if you don't want to
As a new player, all that I recommend is grinding Blood Money missions, get Navy Revolver, and lancaster. Im almost getting the Lancaster and I have a feeling it will be good. When you have 15GN, go get bounty hunter.

I reset my character a few weeks ago and I can tell that Collector role should be priority after bountyhunter (or first with free gold) if you need the first few level and dollar fast. Just use jeanropke map and auto pilot :D

O got to say that pvp in this game is minimal, most of players are friendly with ocasional tryhard, I'm playing for few weeks now and I was attacked less than 5 times by that time. In gta online this number would be like every other player has a high chance yo randomly attack

low level griefers just annoyin, usually doin stuff in forest parts near Valentine, but have to go to deserts near Tumbleweed sometimes, and there is always some newbies willing to kill me for no reason whatsoever lol

Unfortunately there can be an issue with higher level players going after newer players. I remember a specific group of players who dressed up in all pink and did everything they could to destroy the experience for newer players. Which...if you like the game and want it to continue existing with updates (even with take two's a-holery about it), then you need new players. Destroying the experience for them, making them decide it's not worth it playing...that's exactly how to get a game shut down. It's better for the higher level players to be merciful to the lower level ones. (as long as the lower level ones aren't starting anything) because then they'll be more likely to stay and again, keep the game supported for years to come.
I just started online and love it level 12 maybe and I have to say only was attacked 1 time. So far so good
New player here and I keep getting headshotted over and over by high level players it only stops if I go to another lobby 😅
I came to rdr wit a gta mentality when it first came out, long story short nowaday I just restore order when gta folk come around these parts acting up😂😂😂

Advice for beginners (are there any on RDO?) The most important item you can get in the beginning is the fishing rod.
Fishing gives you health xp, and is the fastest way to max your health.

i once got attacked by 3 noobs and it was hilarious the amount of trolling we did to each other, it ended up in a gun fight.
The player base is so different in RDO and GTA Online. When I’m in RDO, players just wave an emote and sometimes help even when they know they aren’t gonna get anything out of it. In GTA Online, players will kill you every opportunity they get. The RDO fan base will forever be less toxic.
I guess I have bad luck with mod menu users crashing my game as soon as I do something grindy, or just because…
I played a lot of TheHunter and started Hunting in RDO.
I constantly aim for the Lungs cuz it's the best way to take down an animal in TheHunter.

Beginners might be bad however, the most pathetic are the high levels who kill you or hogtie near a teleport post then leave. I mean, I get they're bad at the game and don't want me to ruin them after.
actually I find it's the other way round. older players attack new players who are at a lower level. and Red Dead redemption is not passive it's toxic like GTA online. that's why I quit playing Red Dead redemption online

“Players are friendly”
The first day I started level 5 some “friendly” player (a griefer) kept hunting me and killing me about 3 times on Xbox. Yeah. “Friendly”. I was doing nothing but trying to do a bounty from the bounty board (which the times are bs btw)
I plan to try and get the onyx wolf coat some day! My friend has it on their game and it looks amazing.

Recently I've been getting attacked by random low levels.
I find that sending a strong message by bolasing them, hogtieing them with the reinforced lasso, and then blowing them up with a dynamite arrow is quite effective.
If they come back with the intention of seeking revenge, then a simple long range headshot from the Bounty Hunter Lemat revolver "usually" gets the point across.
Jeez so precise in describing your intentions.. sorry to hear that you are getting bugged by then... I always call griefers: "assholes" or "douchebags"
