Helpful video , thanks . When think of a doubler . I think of the TC Electronic’s doubler . Where it actually knocks your playing, out of time and tune like you would if you were tracking parts. QC’s approach is more playing with phase . So I’m not surprised the dual delay can create a similar effect. I thought the doubler on this video sounded a little better than the dual delay. Perhaps with condensed controls …..
And thank you for showing the transpose (and some of the other blocks) clean with no goo on the front and back end. So many people do it distorted and tons of delay and verb. And that doesn't really give you a very accurate view of the block.
I'm trying to wrap my head around the blend. I'm wondering about putting those on the wet paths of the EVH WDW preset. Ideally the pitch detune and delay would be totally in parallel. Could the blend facilitate that?
@@davlavmusic7070 I'm used to the Fractal grid which makes parallel routing of numerous effects very easy. As a new QC owner, space on the grid is much more limited. In your 90's EVH WDW preset, there's no space to put the two pitch blocks in parallel with the delay blocks. Not sure if this would help that or not. Maybe only partially.
thanks for your videos mate , im just doing the update now and the first thing i noticed was that you must do it through the device , the option to update should be also in the quad cortex control app.
works perfectly , took about an hour, i had to also update the cortex control app this is something that i didnt see mentioned , my current machine is a pretty old iMac 2011 and cortex control runs very well although its unsupported , im gonna update my machine later in the year when apple decide to release some new kit !
You definitely did yourself dirty putting the transpose after the cab. Do it as early as you can on your signal chain. Also why would you compare one pre cab and one post cab… like comparing apples to oranges. Transpose sounds way better
Transpose still doesn’t work well for more than a few semitones (with chords). I tried to imitate a capo on 4 but it sounded awful. Granted, going up 4 semitones is kinda an outlier. I’ll keep testing it on less drastic songs to see if I like it better than the pitch shifter.
@@tonepilot it’s monophonic so yeah outside of power chords it’s going to sound not great. That said I’ve had success down 12 semitones by tweaking the shit out of the curve. This is in genres with heavy distortion so the artifacts are less noticeable.
sorry but the doubler is the BEST thing in this release next to the plugin-in compatibility. I have tried the same effect as you were describing but it always sounds weird and fake. I think the new one is miles above any hack.
For me this update is a bit disappointing. There's a lot of marketing buzz to attract new paying plugin customers but you don't really need plugins to get your favorite artists sound with some effort. There are some nice fx updates like the great circular delay. Side chaining is a really good addition, love that. Folders are essential but very overdue. A big miss in my opinion is the opportunity to manage your QC through midi, specifically being able to control block parameters whatever the mode you're in. Almost every modeler has that, I don't understand why the QC is not getting it.
Some people will never be happy. I do agree on MIDI being lacking but also didn’t expect it to be in this OS as it was focused on plugins, a promised feature since launch. Hopefully now that this juggernaut is out of the way they have more resources to get back to adding more core functionality. That said I’m extremely happy with the new blocks added and sidechaining is HUGE. Transparent blend and the doubler are also pretty under rated new blocks
thanks for keeping these coming!
It's a big week for QC owners!
I’ve organized all my IRs and captures using the new folder system. It’s wonderful.
Great video as always ❤

I'm looking forward to the column about Ampero😊
I’m wondering if the transpose works best when it’s at the start of the signal chain?
Maybe. I'll give that a try.
That’s where I have mine, right after my input gate. Sounds good there
That's where people e.g. suggest you put the equivalent Helix module, first in the chain
Did you put the pitch shifter after the cab block?? 7:48
Yes. I did more testing with the transpose and pitch shift in this video: th-cam.com/video/NVG2pZbkBfo/w-d-xo.html
About the graphic eq, it's not exactly the same as the old one. It has different q values based on the plugins.
Thanks!
Great video, Thanks a lot! Where do you recommend to put the doubler?
I usually put it towards the end - where I would put a modulation or delay effect. But it can go anywhere - try it out and see what you prefer.
Of course the added plugin functionality also means Neural can charge for adding things to QC from now on. Not sure that's a good thing or not.

My thoughts are going to the same place. Can the blend be used instead of doing complex splitting? I need to play around with it a bit...

I believe the doubler is nothing more than the Haas effect.
Sorry, did you say Neural just added a doubler now!?
Yep.

Hmm, I didn't feel there was that much of an improvement. But it is a little better imo and uses less cpu, so it is a definite improvement overall.
The mod rate and mod depth being on two different pages is annoying me :)
