This is an incredible product and much better than any other oil undercoating on the market. I am up in New Hampshire and I put this on my "new to me" southern super duty this past October to protect it from rust. I would 100% suggest the black undercoating because it makes the undercarriage look new again and really protects the truck. Vast majority of the underside of my truck is still coated in the black oil after the winter, so it definitely can withstand heavy snow, rain, salt, brine, etc. Make sure to get into all the crevices of the truck (inside bedrails, in wheel wells/bedsides, inner rocker panels/cab corners, inside of door panels, etc). Me and three friends bought a 5 gallon bucket for four trucks and we had some left over. All it takes is a decent sized compressor (we used a 20 gallon compressor) and a cheap spray gun off of amazon (get a metal canister for the spray gun as well, so all the equipment is reusable). For reference, my crew cab short bed truck used about a gallon of oil and the entire underside was completed covered in a thick layer of oil. My friends and I will absolutely be using this product every single year to protect our trucks because it looks great and works very well.

I don’t own a power stroke (love the videos) but I bought my ‘05 Duramax from my grandpa and he put rust treatment on the truck every year since he bought it brand new due to Ohio winters. To this day there’s not a spec of rust that I can see and it still has the original rocker panels which are infamous for rust in the GM trucks. Cost $160 a year and I’m gonna continue to do the same. It’s an oil based product called Go-Krown I think.

One thing to add to the process is they make a multidirectional nozzle attachment for an aerosol can that gets into the body interior through the holes in the rockers and doors so you can coat it from the inside out.

Up in Central NY we have a product called Krown. Looks something like your product when applied. Should be used once a year and I have been having my trucks done for many years. Works great and creeps into all welds and joints. I even had my aluminum Super Duty done when new and after the first application just get the chassis sprayed every year. Keep them looking new.

Archoil makes a really good rust remover that can be pressure sprayed on and it blasts the rust off. I am having my rocker panels done soon. I think I would consider this stuff after I blast it with the Archoil.

Make sure you apply some type of oil, either fluid film or something similar to the seams that are at the bottom of the tail gate and the bottoms of the doors. Salt does find its way in there and will rust out those body parts. Yes, they can be replaced without cutting and welding but might as well protect them while you can.

Life here in the rust belt definitely sucks. Even powder coated parts suffer the same fate. The rust just goes right underneath it. Of course when I was in Texas, the opposite problem of every bit of plastic turning crispy was the issue, even all the gears for the HVAC actuators just turned to dust. The heat just nukes anything not made of metal.

Hi Bill. I know this is off-topic, but do you have any videos/advice for E-Series Cutaway or Vans and how to approach working on them. I know you spoke about the 6.0L leaving ambulances stranded by the side of the road when they first came out and there are a lot of 2004 - 2010 Cutaways and Vans for sale with 6.0L's. I have looked at a couple of used Shuttle Buses, Ambulances, and Vans to purchase for conversion to a tiny home or motorhome, and we could all use some advice. Thanks for sharing your experiences. The information is invaluable.

NEVER use rubber under coated even on new cars. When the water gets under it and it will. The moister CANNOT get out and accelerates the rusting process.

I personally use Krown, but I think most of these products are WORLDS better than nothing. Like anything else, proper maintenance (oil based undercoat after a good pressure washing in spring) will make your vehicle last much much longer.

  • @frenchfrysz6695

I've lost all of my previous vehicles to rust.... I live outside of Buffalo NY and the deathly salty brine they spray over the road is unreal. Makes me never want to buy a brand new truck EVER, unless I move out west/south. Undercoating does help, but the rust still reveals itself after awhile on exterior panels regardless (rear wheel wells etc), your exhaust, and Trans cooler lines etc. Because the heat from some components burns off the undercoat product. My 2009 Chevy frame is still factory black but some areas as mentioned above still get affected. Only a matter of time before the salt takes you tinto the garage to do work/or the junk yard. Its fucking 2020, I believe there should be a biodegradable rust inhibitor they can add to the road treatments. Why on earth would you spend 55,000+ for a new truck up here to have it turn into a rusty piece of shit in a few years.

You've never worked on a vehicle with that rubberized undercoating. Don't get it even on a new one. Set up an appointment if you live in the rust belt with a Krown rustproofing store then go to dealer pick up that new car / truck and drive it right to the Krown store. Then every year get it re-done like they suggest. No matter the type of oil you use change the oil every five thousands miles . Pick a brand and stick to it. If you pick a Toyota, Honda or a Ford with the right motor you could get 250,000 with out even blinking an eye.
