Also need to apply multiple thin coats, allowing 15-20 minutes flash time between coats. Also, trucks usually don't come with a "factory" spray in liner. They are sourced out by the dealer to places like Line-X, or dealer installed. All in all, good video, and Raptor is a good product. I've done probably 2 dozen or more, with great results.
It looks awesome. You guys did an excellent job. I'm at a point in life where I'll just pay a shop the extra 300 bucks to do all that prep work, though. Sanding shit for hours and hours sucks ass. But there was a time when I would have done it. You definitely feel some pride in it when you do it yourself. Excellent job. Anyone looking at it would think it was "professionally" done.
that actually turned out looking good. I used to spray liner for leonards. You should have taken your bed bolts and tail gate screws out first though. The spray on the bolts usually end up peeling off if you use the bed alot. Another trick is to use a razor blade and cut between the bolts and actual bed so if it peels it won't spread to the bed.
Looks good, thanks for the video. One thing I may say is...I've had good luck with adhesion with different coatings & paints using course Scotchbrite pads. All you need to achieve adhesion is to knock off the gloss and create micro-scratches in the surface and they work into the nooks & crannies much better. Wipe down with acetone or surface prep product and off you go. You are then still leaving a coat of paint beneath rather than bare metal, a little extra protection down the like as the liner gets scratched through it's thickness. All-in-all, great job, you guys put in some work.
I am in the planning stage for Raptoring the body of my '02 Dakota Quad Cab. I've have a plastic Pendaliner in my bed for over 18 years. I've been in the trades for years. In my experience, for rough use, such as a landscaper shoveling material from the bed, hauling stone, rocks etc. I've found the plastic one piece slip in bedliners to be much more durable than surface spray or brush on products. The spray on is great for grip, but the slickness of the one piece plastic has the edge in ease of moving material. As for the job you just did, it looks great.

Ok, you've made up my mind. I'm doing this to my 2019 Ford Ranger. When I bought it new in April of 2019, I had the dealer throw in one of those $300 plastic bed liners because it didn't come with the "bed package" from the factory, which would've included a spray-in bedliner. And that plastic liner moves around just enough to scratch the hell out of the paint underneath it -- to the point where there are a couple of small spots that are starting to collect surface rust here three years later. So I figure, since I have to sand off the surface rust anyway, I may as well sand down the whole bed and paint it with this stuff. Better than paying the $600 to $700 I've been quoted at other places. I think I can get results like this, as long as I'm careful with the prep-work. Thanks for the vid!

Ya its the prep work that has kept me from doing mine I remember seeing this kind of stuff like 5 years ago but ya beds have a lot of low spots if it was flat not so bad
YEARS AGO, I had an F250 that I bought a bed liner kit for. I put it on, but, after a short time I saw it was getting scratched. I was bummed. Some years later I bought a new F350. I hated to pay the $500 but I delivered it to a LINE-X shop & they sprayed it in. 11 years I owned that truck. Mostly, it was used to haul our 3500lb 10ft truck camper. We would slide it in & slide it out. Dozens of times. The day I traded it, I happen to notice the bed lining looked just as it had been the day we bought it. Yeah, I hated what it cost me, BUT, in the end I had to admit it was worth every penny. Thats why today, when we pick up our new Ford Maverick we are delivering it directly to the LINE-X dealer. An F250 makes a read STUPID daily driver. It burns WAY too much gas. The oil co are plenty rich enough. What your girl needs is A Maverick or maybe a Santa Cruz. !
Ordering this kit to spray my entire mustang destroyer gray with the raptor liner will give it a bit of texture the rest of my car will be gloss black super durable stuff easy to work with and covers up mistakes if you do get a run you would even have a hard time finding it yourself just make sure you use all 4 bottles for a even coat all around depending on the size of your vehicle you may need 6-7 bottles but 4 is good for sports cars
What's clickbait about it? (DIY)- He shows how to DO IT YOURSELF instead of having a shop do it. ($100)- kit costs 100 bucks. (Spray in bed liner)- it is spray in liner. (At home)- he did it at his home (Don't pay lineX prices)- he didn't, he paid raptor prices and online shipping. Every part of his title was truthful and so and there's no clickbait. Clickpay is when you misrepresent your title and show something else. If you're referring to the fact that he said DIY and maybe you were looking for bed liner that you can make yourself then clickbait would be if he said (HOMEMADE) as he did not MAKE or CREATE the liner.
I used to work for a company spraying bed liners, when you sanded through the primer into the metal, you should have primed before spraying . . . the best to use is an epoxy primer
Looks good. Did get mine sprayed professionally with a UV liner for $425 with a warranty. Pros will also not spray your nuts, hooks, and bed lights. Not a bad job though.
This guy needs more experience doing it, but it is something anyone can do. He made it sound like a lot more work than it is and cut corners. Anyone can take it to a guy to do it. Be THAT guy instead.
@@tomholskey992 how tf did he cut corners? It looks professionally done and it only cost $100 he literally went through each step and did it in a few hours. You obviously are just criticizing for no reason
Thank you for the detailed step-by-step process. Can this be applied to a bedliner that I had sprayed on by a shop 14 years ago when I bought my new 2007 Tundra? I understand I need to remove the small amounts of rust, prime any exposed metal, and scuff it all up as if it was a new truck. Thanks again.
I used Raptor lining on my whole truck. An autobody supply store can tint the color to anything you choose. Came out awesome and you can't scratch it period.
Really? OEM and aftermarket line-x jobs spray over the bolts. How many times does the average person need to remove the bed? Basically zero. Leaving the bolts exposed would allow an edge to exist with more possibility of peeling. That's like saying "I wouldn't tape and compound your drywall just in case you need to replace the insulation".
@@ruffxm I don’t really care what you say. If it’s my vehicle I’d have it done that way. It’s just smart and preparing for a situation if it so arises.
@@SuperDcopeland Yeah, another immature, insecure little boy who can't admit that maybe, just maybe, their idea isn't the best. So tell me, where does "preparing for a situation" stop? I refer to my drywall example. According to your logic, what if you need to replace the insulation? What if a pipe bursts in the wall? Your logic says you shouldn't tape and compound and even paint for that matter just because of some "what if's"? If someone wants to replace their bed, why would they care if the bolts are covered? THEY'RE REPLACING THE BED. So you wire-wheel off the coatings on the bolt heads if you need to - big deal. Instead, you'd rather have a great looking and protective bedliner with exposed bolts for the rare situation where you may want to replace the bed? Do you really think that's logical?
@@SuperDcopeland And I said my opinion so you shut the fuck up. If little boys can't handle opposition they shouldn't post opinions. You act and write like a little boy. Are you a hillbilly?
I am definitely going to be installing a bed liner either self or professionally done. This was a great video for that but it lacks some information needed. You said it comes with the spray gun, but what is the required air compressor needed? Am I able to do it with a small pancake compressor? Or do I need a larger much higher capacity compressor to spray? I will most definitely be needing that 2nd kit if I do it myself as I do a lot of hauling that needs the extra protection. How much time did this project take the two of you? And how much would you expect it to take for one person? Thanks a ton and again, great informative video!
IT's best to use 2 or 3 "kits" on these. I fully prepped, although it was a used Ram 2500 and instructions said to use self etching paint. I made the mistake of using the cheap Rustoleum etching paint and this Raptor Liner is now chipping in those spots. I will be respraying with 2 kits over this one coat already down, making it 3 total, and it should last very long. Prep is KING when spraying in liners like this, as well as a MASK!
So quick tip my uncle use to do this professionally and best way to sand bed is to use wire wheels on drill! Also the difference between this and the pro stuff is the pro stuff gose on hot around 300 and something degrees like asfault!
I did my dodge 5yrs ago. Still in great shape. I just dodn,t have a hotty helper like like her. I colored mine, $129 at NAPA. No other is as great as raptor
This is good prep that’s what’s only going keep it looking good for some time but high pressure and heated mixture and hardener is the only thing that can guarantee lifetime warranty go to a professional and get it sprayed once because DIY will have you paying triple which adds up to the same amount you would pay a professional

a LINE-X shop & they sprayed it in. 11 years I owned that truck. Mostly, it was used to haul our 3500lb 10ft
truck camper. We would slide it in & slide it out. Dozens of times. The day I traded it, I happen to notice the
bed lining looked just as it had been the day we bought it. Yeah, I hated what it cost me, BUT, in the end I had
to admit it was worth every penny. Thats why today, when we pick up our new Ford Maverick we are
delivering it directly to the LINE-X dealer.
An F250 makes a read STUPID daily driver. It burns WAY too much gas. The oil co are plenty rich enough.
What your girl needs is A Maverick or maybe a Santa Cruz.

Do an update in 6 months after its seasoned to a few weather cycles and the sun.....spray on or brush on they all look good when they are first done
For real. I've seen them start to chip a lot. There is so many aftermarket plastic bedliners, it can be bought pretty cheap.

Clickbait at it’s finest. And I’m definitely ok with it 🤣
What's clickbait about it?
(DIY)- He shows how to DO IT YOURSELF instead of having a shop do it.
($100)- kit costs 100 bucks.
(Spray in bed liner)- it is spray in liner.
(At home)- he did it at his home
(Don't pay lineX prices)- he didn't, he paid raptor prices and online shipping.
Dat asss is like the 2nd coming
Joseph Reese It’s a joke maybe
Haha, right! Can't even be mad at the blatant use of click bait. Looks like it's working lol!
I used to work for a company spraying bed liners, when you sanded through the primer into the metal, you should have primed before spraying . . . the best to use is an epoxy primer
3:39 your welcome

The thickness.

Looks good. Did get mine sprayed professionally with a UV liner for $425 with a warranty. Pros will also not spray your nuts, hooks, and bed lights. Not a bad job though.
After watching this vid. Think I’m gonna pay someone to do my bed liner.
Right? I got a quote from Rhino for $550 and it’ll take them half a day to do it.
Same for me. That's a lot of effort to have it almost be as good as professionally done. Thanks for the video though!
Something's should be done by pro's. This is one. But he did get gf time.
I have a Line-X spray-in liner, and I have to say this looks very similar. Actually, it looks great. Great job on the prepping.
Hard to beat the line-x lifetime warranty though
I legitimately found this looking for Raptor liner instruction. This is the only tutorial I've watched multiple times for some reason.
I didn’t realize how long you’ve had a TH-cam channel! You need to bring back the food videos!
I did my whole pickup in raptor liner it has been 2 years now and it still looks pretty good
Mason Allen did you tint it or leave it black?
Mason Allen how many kits did it take?
For sure one of the best bed liner that I’ve ever seen.
I cringe every time someone just drops a tailgate

Same here. I baby my vehicles
I have soft close on my tailgate:)
When is her truck going to get lifted a put bigger wheels and tires on it. Great video
Great job! And to have your lady helping is a double plus.
Friend of mine just raptor lined his entire XJ with the tintable version in a creme color
I did that for years. On many trucks. Used Gator Guard then Monsta Liner. They held up well for a working pickup. You can touch them up as well.
I'd love to do this to my bed. What size air compressor did you use with this?
I have the same question. I highly doubt my little hot dog 8 gallon is big enough 😄
I ordered the same kit for my truck. I followed your steps and it turned out great! Thanks!
How much overspray was there
@@williamharris631 none I spent over an hour prepping with plastic drop cloth and taping just like in the video
What compressor do you have?
@@jes8414 just a basic 5 gallon rigid brand compressor
How well has it held up over the years?
DuUde, that looks professional....you 2 killed it! Could you update us in a month or so..?
Illusion purple bed liner? 🤔 Btw I was actually looking forward to purchase a bed liner kit and this just might be it. Thanks for the amazing content!
I used Raptor lining on my whole truck. An autobody supply store can tint the color to anything you choose. Came out awesome and you can't scratch it period.
Yep you gotta whack it with epoxy before spraying the liner imho.
I wouldn't of painted over the bolt heads in case the bed needed to come off or tailgate internals needed work.
@@ruffxm wtf look troll all I’m saying if it’s my truck I’d have it done that way. And I’m not no little boy. I’m a 44 year old man . So stfu.
@@SuperDcopeland And I said my opinion so you shut the fuck up. If little boys can't handle opposition they shouldn't post opinions. You act and write like a little boy. Are you a hillbilly?
When your girl uses her truck more then you do. I think it’s time to move on hunny 😂😂
Why would that be a reason?
I was thinking the same thing, that F150 has towed way more than the Cummins
Trevor Vanalstine the Cummins is pretty much a show truck so
hanratty450 she should dump him
hanratty450 Than*, not then.
Have to ever seen the LINE-X coating? They coat that stuff on for about 4mm of thickness.
😂😂😂 love how Ryan drops her tailgate twice. RIP FORD TAILGATE...Easy Ryan you’ll break it.
I honestly forgot it wasn’t gonna go down slowly both times 😂😂😂😂
So quick tip my uncle use to do this professionally and best way to sand bed is to use wire wheels on drill! Also the difference between this and the pro stuff is the pro stuff gose on hot around 300 and something degrees like asfault!
She is one extraordinarily blessed young lady...... Wow.
Just the video I was lookin for! Thanks 🙏 oh and your sister looks 👍 great 👀👀😜
I thinking about doing this to my 99 Silverado, but did not want it to look cheap. Now I am convince l can do a professional looking job. Thank.

Good job letting your girl use a wire wheel without eye protection!!

What about the mask???
My first time using one... got me a visit to hospital for a wire in one vein 😒
( what a luck )
More leggings please
He wants her blind so he can keep her!!
I would recommend a wet sand on the clear only, that is enough to hold the paint. I wouldn't recommend sanding to metal.
Damn great job guys. And your girlfriend is the 💣💣💯💯👌🏾👌🏾 I love a woman that helps her man in the garage or yard on trucks ❤❤👌🏾
She needs to come into the aftermarket world!
I did my dodge 5yrs ago. Still in great shape. I just dodn,t have a hotty helper like like her.
I colored mine, $129 at NAPA. No other is as great as raptor
You're lucky you found a girl that will go into the garage with you and get dirty. They're rare! Keep her around
💯
Admit it, most of you guys wouldn't have clicked on this if there wasn't leggings in the thumbnail 🤣
This is good prep that’s what’s only going keep it looking good for some time but high pressure and heated mixture and hardener is the only thing that can guarantee lifetime warranty go to a professional and get it sprayed once because DIY will have you paying triple which adds up to the same amount you would pay a professional
