The LG OLED G4 seems to be having a significant issue with HDMI2 (eARC). Connecting external video sources to HDMI2 (which work on the other the other 3 HDMIs) do not produce an image (but you can hear sound). I have done all the troubleshooting in the world in order to try to isolate the issue to no avail (changing HDMI cables, factory resets, hard resets, removing the HDMIs one by one and re-adding them one by one, turned off HD color). Nothing works. The interesting thing is that this issue temporarily goes away with a hard reset, but it quickly returns. After unsuccessful attempts at getting effective tech support from LG, I purchased a second 65 G4. Exact same issue! On 4/4/24, LG pushed down an update 3.10.27 which has not resolved the prob(in fact, it's not even addressed in the release notes). I should also point out that the setup I am using is the exact setup I have had with a C9, CX and a C3 just before getting the G4. This HDMI2 issue never occurred with the other TVs. The devices I am talking about which work on other HDMIs but not in HDMI2 of the above-referenced TVs are Fire TV 4K stick, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV 4K and PS5. If this is a software issue, then it can hopefully be addressed quickly by LG, seeing that the G4 is their flagship OLED and the problem is with the most important HDMI - the HDMI2. However, if this is a hardware problem (difficult to believe that both units were defective - in fact, I heard from another LG customer that he is having the same issue with a 83 G4), then LG has its work cut out for it. I can't think of many people who would be willing to wait for a hardware fix which would require for a part to be replaced by a tech's visit on a brand new TV which has been lauded by LG as ground-breaking. All this would be very easily clarified by LG, but up until this point, it seems to be pushing customers (at least me) to an endless loop of bad customer service and then either that (a) the unit is defective and sine it's under the 30 (or 60 in my case) day return period, it can be returned, or (b) to send a tech to diagnose the issue. What exactly the tech would do beyond what i have done to troubleshoot has not been communicated by LG (unless they believe I would be conformable in having the tech open up a brand new TV and start exploring . . .). This is very disappointing. I hope that the various reviewers take note of this very easily identifiable problem (all you have to do is connect a few video sources into HDMI2 and observe for a few hours while turning the TV off and on an again). This way, the interested customers would be informed and LG would provide some information on this issue.
You mentioned we could ask you about features. What I would like to know is if you use headphones plugged into the analogue headphone jack and then select the headphone output under sound, do you then get access to an audio sync menu (not sure what it would be called) that lets you both delay and advance the audio relative to the video? My ten year old LG TV (early generation WebOS Smart TV) - when I plug analogue headphones in - will let me advance audio relative to video in 5 increments and delay audio relative to video in 15 increments. The "advance" feature, however, is by far the more essential one since many headphones will add a slight audio delay. In my case, for example, I need to "advance" the audio (effectively delay the video) by 40 milliseconds to account for the delay introduced by the headphones.
I would have bought a C3 over this or waited for a sale in the fall. I’m buying a new C4 this fall if the price is right for my living room, probably a 65 or 77 inch. For now my 48 inch C2 will do for my game room. It’s been fantastic so far no complaints and a steal for the price.
I use Sennheiser RS195 headphones for TV listening 100% of the time on my ten year old LG TV and they are fantastic. That TV has an analogue headphone output. I am interested in updating to this new C4 42 inch model since it has a headphone output as well (the only C4 that does I believe). Whilst my headphones will also take an optical input, there are heaps of complaints regarding dropouts in the optical output from LG and Samsung TVs. Not sure if those issues have been resolved or not but I would much prefer to buy a TV that has both analogue and optical outputs so I can use the analogue output (like I do now) if the optical ones causes any issues.
Would you pay £300 fpr the C3 or £600 for the C4? My C2 has damaged pixels and Richersounds will only offer a voucher. So unsure in which to get next for PC
I ask: If it is true about an increase in pixel density in the C4. If the heat sink is effective and the sound quality is sufficient to avoid third-party speakers..
The 42" model has a higher pixel density than the larger sizes because smaller the screen size the higher the pixel density. The C4 doesn't have a heat sink, that's for the G4.
I think the G4 will be a significant upgrade, I will get that tv for review in a couple of months because right now is too expensive but if you have the C1 and want to see a difference the G4 is the one to pick.
main question is brightness..the 42" ans 48" are dimmer than their bigger brothers. The C4 series, as well as 144hz was meant to increase the brightness of the smaller size screen to be closer to that of the 55" and above sizes...is this something you can compare?
Hi Joelster!! I have the ps5 less than 2 meters from the tv, which ruipro cable do you recommend? the fiber optic one or the normal one? I have heard that the Ruipro cables offer superior image quality respect the others with more vibrant colors and increase the sharpness.
I have only used the fiber optic cables from Ruipro and they work great, they don't improve image quality or colors but they do transfer high rate data, so all the gaming features can work properly and same with dolby vision and atmos. Here is the cable i recommended. amzn.to/3JBcVod
is it really worth buying the C4 over the Hisense mini LED 55U8KQTUK? Hisense gets close to oled in blacks and the 55inch costs £732 on amazon right now.
I could never live with any FALD based backlit TV given all my viewing is in a pitch dark room. Blooming would be too much of a distraction. OLED have disadvantages as well but for completely darkened viewing environment I'd be going OLED. If not a dark environment then probably FALD mini LED.

I use a C1, still working greatly. Weird that your c4 is so thick. Only important issue of the Ol C1, at least my unit, is that factory color calibration is horrendous (at least, that's true for my unit)
Since you have both C1 and C4, maybe you can do more side to side comparisons in HDR contents such as movies and games. I saw other TH-camr did tested out and confirm that the C4 even without MLA, due to newer WOLED technology from LG, the 10% windows brightness improved drastically. Just want to see the difference in real HDR contents.
I’m also curious if there’s much of a difference in gaming or Netflix to even fancy the thought of replacing a C1. Really doubt anyone with a C1 or C2 would need to even think about upgrading.
@@daveyoung2056 No, they would both be ostensibly the same in your application except that the C4 can go a bit brighter and has some refinements that are more geared to TV watching functionality than as a PC gaming monitor. Also keep in mind the OLEDs work best in a dimmed environment which may or may not suit your setup. I flight sim in a darkened environment just with spot lighting on my keyboard. The only other source of light is the screen itself so an OLED would be great for me, especially for night flying where it really excels.

How is the picture quality from the C3 to the G4?
The 42" model lacks the brightness of the larger C4 sizes. The build quality is great but yeah LG really likes their propriety power cord. LOL
The numbers are programmable hot keys and they are the best feature of the remote.

Yes in the gamebar shows the framerate.
