Exactly. Ant is 23 and he's still taking steps every year and I'd guess he's not near his prime yet. Most players don't mentally reach their prime until like 26 or later. I think the age thing matters more when a guy has megastar potential but there aren't megastars in this draft lol
@@michaelsimmons2745 Because a 23 year old dude whose only real NBA level skill is shooting should not be drafted that high. Hes Max Strus, you gonna draft Max Strus number 1?
Ain't that the truth. A lot of players are just a little shorter than ideal. Odd year. Others have holes in their game like Sarr who is not a strong rebounder.
This draft reminds me of the 2013 draft: no clear No. 1 pick and the top prospects project from role players to potential busts. It would not surprise me if the best players out of this class come from the middle to late first round or even the early second round.
I feel like it's the opposite, actually. They tend to declare each draft as "the strongest we've seen since 2003" year after year, saying, "this guy would go #1 in any other draft but this one!" over and over. This one and 2013 are the only ones I recall people saying were weak and had no clear stars.
Knecht isn't going #1, but low-key I think he might be the BEST or end up being the best player in the draft, because not only is he a very good shooter, he has size and he's VERY athletic as well, I think he's the Tyrese Maxey of this draft, and even though he shouldn't be on the board at 16, I would LOVE him on my 76ers, because he fits them PERFECTLY
When this dudes say "its a weak draft" you loose all cred, Joker just won another MVP coming from the second round, many players are great late first and second you can't never say weak draft, same people calling a bunch of bust players future super stars lmao
Interesting draft take but I’ll take Risacher at 4. Can’t wait for draft night. Spurs have a lot of calculations to make and I’m excited to see what moves they make.
It's only weak in terms of current projections with no clear-cut stars. There will definitely be at least a couple of all-stars from this draft, it's just not clear which ones will pan out (unlike last year when Wemby and Brandon Miller were sure things and Scoot Henderson had a sky-high ceiling with a bit of risk).
It also could be like the 2013 draft, where most of the top players were role players to outright busts. It would not surprise me if the best players in this draft came in the middle of (Giannis Antetokounmpo, No. 15 pick in 2013) or late in the first round (Rudy Gobert, No. 27, 2013)).
This is so Unserious. Dude is like 23. I like Dalton, but there's no upside. Dude might be as good as he's gonna get. Tyler Smith might end up better in the league
He might be worse. He's never faced players that are faster, taller, more athletic, the NBA is gonna be rough for him. Doug McDermott, Max Strus are his level, and those two are pretty useless on an NBA team
Bronny does not deserve to be in the lottery. He should have gone back to college basketball. Knecht will be in the league a long time. I definitely don't expect him to be the best player from this draft though.
So this encourages Atlanta sliding down if they want Clingon in a trade with the Spurs. So what will the Spurs offer in addition to the swap to get the Hawks to bite
Sarr, Rishachar, and Clingan will all be busts. Sarr's best comp is Cauley-Stein at best. Rishachar is Beauchamp with a slightly better shot. Clingan is Oden. He is a defensive stopper whose lower body will only allow him to play 2-3 years. Carter, Sheppard, and Castle will have the longest, most successful careers.
The top three will be Sarr, Risacher, and Clingan. Not necessarily in that order. I see the Spurs trading up for Risacher and the Rockets trading back allowing another team to move up for Clingan. The trades are probably already in place contingent of player availability. If the Hawks take Clingan, then the trade with the Rockets for #3 falls apart. If a trade does not materialize, I see the Rockets taking Clingan as trade bait rather than let him fall. Taking Reed at three is a stretch and I am sure the Rockets would rather trade back. If he is gone by the time the Rockets pick, not an issue. Could see them drafting a role player. Who all depends on where they land after trading back. Could the Hawks trade back, sure, but I think they take who they want. Could be any of those three, which will trigger the trades Spurs with Washington. Portland, Memphis, Chicago with the Rockets.
Possibly the Spurs take Carter at 4 and Da Silva at 8. Both can shoot including the three and defend multiple positions. They more than likely are not going to be All Stars but solid core players. Top of the first round of this draft there's not much difference and is really a crap shoot. Most of them either can't shoot consistently, don't defend, are too short or a combination of at least one or two of the deficiencies. Trying to decide who fits best on your team is going to give the teams selection committee headaches for a month or two until the season starts. It's going to be interesting on who has buyer's remorse first.
@@AmplifiedEnergy San Antonio would be better off trading a future draft pick for Portland's Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon is only 31, meaning he could be a mentor for the Spurs' inexperienced team for several years,
Does Dalton play defense? I’m thinking no, but open to the facts. Good size is not a defense metric. There are a lot of 7 foot bums out there. I expect CBS to go hard for the great white hopes in the draft. Over achieving on offense does not impress me. Blocking shots and rim running should be, it’s not, a given. If he can not jump or run on defense, he can stay in college.
