It's still packed away, but I love mine too & can't wait to put it back into use. ❤️ The pictures of your trees are stunning, as usual, but it occurred to me while Mr Reeve was talking about all the "dead wood" on your place, that it's hard to tell the dead trees from the living at this time of year, but the ones that need to come down are no less beautiful in a winter blanket of snow. Sort of a last hurrah for them I think. Thanks for sharing a little bit of your holiday with us. We all take a little trip down memory lane this time of year. The choices you each made for each other made me think of the story about the hair combs & watch chain from a really old Christmas story that I can't remember the name of, of course. Gift of the Magi maybe? Merry Christmas from the Baughmans of Indiana. .yes fruitcake. .when I was little 60 years ago 66 now..was to have an orange and peanuts in my stocking..
They love the pitch in the spruce bark I think. They also like the needles and the little spruce cones. It’s high in vitamin c. If we lived in town we’d collect old Christmas trees to feed them. 😊 Hope y’all are doing well.
@@RusticByNature Yes they will do that, especially if they’re bored. They’ll strip the trees especially if they get kept in one place for too long. Hansel and Gretel didn’t realize the trees in their original pen until they had been there almost a year. We made sure that they had lots of hay, alfalfa pellets, and goat minerals.
We made homemade birch beer when I was a child. I was the bottle capper. I had forgotten until you mentioned the root beer. God bless and Merry Christmas.

I love those series so much! Ruth Goodman actually has a few books out. One is a Victorian life book. I learned a lot about conserving water from that book. I pretend to play the piano. All the F keys are off, but I plink away anyways. 😊
He did sneak presents, he taught me all I know! Lol. He taught me to cut the tape because it was easy to put a new piece on. 😂 I thought you’d say the Muppets Movie for your favorite. I remember being told if we were caught we’d have all of our gifts returned. I was for sure my Cabbage Patch 2 piece outfit I opened was not going to be there Christmas morning. Luckily it was! Merry Christmas! Love you both!

We've had temps down in the single digits. Friday morning we had bad winds, and it rained and had a few snow flakes mixed in. But of course it didn't stick. I have space heaters and they've been constantly working. Hope they hold up for the rest of the winter. Oh, my name is Julie.

My mom and dad had that kind of love ❤️ My first cook book my mom gave me was a Betty Crocker though most of the cooking I learned from her didn't have measurements or exact recipes. I sure do miss my mom. Oh and I've watched that same show too to get more ideas on off grid living. So many interesting things on there. Love to ya'll, keep growing friends! You're awesome!

@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska running water is going to be one of our biggest issues. We do have a neighbor that halls in water when needed so I more we'll start off by filling our tanks that way. We are installing rain catchment on the roof but precipitation can be unpredictable at times. Our current situation with the housefire is dragging by. Insurance is being a pain and with it being the holidays not much is getting done. I'll be so glad when this stressful situation is in the past. Will definitely change a few things with the new home now with this experience with fire.
@@survivinglife__unplugged We thought we’d get a sand point in this summer, but just didn’t happen. We’re still running out of 7 gallon aqua-tainers. It works week for us. We only have to fill them about once a week. I’d like to do a series on how we use so little water, hopefully I’ll get to it soon. 😊
@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska oh please do! I'd love to see that. I told my husband his showers will have to change. I'm in and out quickly but he's not learned that yet. I told him he may have to fill a bowl of warm water in there and turn it off while he uses that bowl and soap to suds up and then turn it back on to rinse off. I use most water when washing dishes. Any tips would be so appreciated.
