What did you think of Halloween Ends?
I hated Halloween Kills, but after watching Halloween Ends, I’m starting to feel that it wasn’t so bad. I think they had an idea for the direction they wanted to go in and couldn’t stick the landing. Jamie Lee was fabulous, as always. That weird ass wrestling match cracked me up, too. I did like the ending, putting aside the absurdity of Christmas treeing Michael Myers.

I feel so guilty for not digging this last film because I love Jamie Lee Curtis and a bulk of the Halloween films so much.
Story aside, sorry but not interested in the homage to Halloween III with the blue title and credits. And what happened to the Halloween theme music? I didn’t feel like I was watching a Halloween movie AT ALL.
Such few and brief scenes of Lindsey!! She was shockingly underused after she was the highlight of Halloween Kills. I much rather have seen more of her instead of that crazy mother that kisses her son like that and those (terrible acting) bullies always in the car. Gosh they were such awful actors. Casting locals I guess. Christopher Nelson was so on point when he called this movie “weird” months ago. This movie is so disappointing.🫤
Jamie Lee Curtis was absolutely right when she said after filming it that this movie would piss people off. SHE KNEW.
Film is a disaster. I tried to be open minded knowing some of the large rumors but my GOD… 🤦🏼♂️
Idc how old Myers is he should have never been so weak. It’s a total slap in the face and disappointment to all hardcore fans of the original. It felt like a drama/horror with a bit of Twilight with the whole Allyson & Cory BS. Horrible way to “End” the trilogy. They should have just ended it with 2018 and possibly a better written Kills without any Cory BS.

in 2018 it had been 40 years since Laurie had escaped Micheal and had 3 friends killed an shes been hyper vigilant and in a permanent state of fear however 4 years after Kills where Lauries daughter was butchered, Laurie barely survived 2018, Micheal is still out there and Laurie is practically chill and care free about it 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

I agreed with everything you said until the last minute. I don't think that horror is moving on without Michael Myers, and I don't think we'd be better off for it. We just need to find people who can write and direct good Halloween movies.... and SOON!!!! Easier said than done, but still.....
Yeah, I probably could've phrased that better. But I think we need to let Michael cool off for a while
If they were really hellbent on trying something different, they should've done better editing. Halloween 2019 (one year after Kills) should've been when a weakened Michael comes back to finish the job. They fight, he's killed. Roll intro song. Then, the rest of the movie deals with Corey (and better editing to ensure some mystery). Laurie and the town will think that Michael has returned and at the end it's revealed that someone else tried to pickup the torch. I don't know, what a mess.
Great Review Gav , The only thing that could have saved this movie, is when Laurie took off Michaels mask and found Leslie Nielsen underneath

DGG turned Halloween Ends into the Josstice League of the Halloween franchise. It will forever be looked at as the red headed step child of the series. Makes me appreciate Thorn Trilogy more at least it was a story about Michael. The original trilogy will forever be H1, H2, H20. Done
Absolutely! H20 was the perfect send-off before they decided to have Michael Myers steal the clothes of someone like a Hitman game and make Resurrection.
@@GavinLovesHorror at this point they should’ve just ended Ends with Michael about to kill Laurie and several portals open up and out steps Jamie Lloyd, Busta Rhymes, Rob Zombie’ Laurie, Lauire’s son John, and the spirit of Loomis just like Endgame and they all do wrestling finishing moves on Michael. At least we would’ve all laughed and gone home happy saying well that was different 😂

No. From a quality standpoint it’s so much better than Kills. It had better dialogue, acting and direction than 2018 as well. The movie was awesome.

I swear man they fumbled the bag HARD. I really enjoyed the first two Blumhouse Halloween movies. I'll proudly admit that Halloween Kills is my second favorite after the original movie. It made Michael feel like such an unstoppable badass and showed so much respect to his character. I thought they were confirming that Michael was an unstoppable supernatural force of evil which I personally found awesome. Kills gave Michael a lot of respect. Then Ends happened...man my dad and I were laughing at how ridiculous this movie was. For me, the Blumhouse series finishes with Kills because I found that ending satisfying. This movie though... how. How do you mess up this badly. They disrespected Michael hard
I didn't love Kills but it is a masterpiece compared to Ends and at least it feels like Michael Myers. Ends is just a mess.

Watching on Peacock had many moments of "What is happening?"
I watched it last night. I was totally WTF happened here. So many inconsistencies. I was doing comedic commentary throughout the whole thing. Unintentionally funny parts peppered in. It's like they wanted to do something different but said eh fuck it. Let's wrap it up. I totally agree with you man. This was such a waste! Complete anticlimactic ending ugh
What a weird movie they made.
These last 3 Halloweens were so disappointing and this last one was by far the worst. Carpenter and Hill created a story about a man hell bent on finishing the job he started as a child. Killing his SISTER!!! Taking that very fact away changed everything. That was Michael Myers essence. I mean it would be like if JJ Abrams, when he took the helm of Star Wars decided, hey in my “timeline” Darth Vader is not Luke Skywalker’s father. Green, McBride and Teems were doomed as soon as they decided to dismantle what Carpenter and Hill so artfully created. It’s a shame.
I still like 2018 and there are part of Kills/Ends that work, but if you combine Kills/Ends, I think it would have been better and less chance to add dumb things like Corey.
John Carpenter himself said the "Sister" thing was never the intention in the first movie, he said the idea was stupid and he regretted doing in part 2 ( a film he didnt want to make).
I had felt like I flushed my money in the toilet bowl after walking out of the movie theater after this movie.I paid for 7 of us to.

Before I say this, yes, I'm fully aware that this comes way late in the game after Halloween, got caught up with ALOT and didn't have the time to post this until now.
With that out of the way, I watched "Halloween Ends" last month and I was disappointed on a third watch and all the flaws that people had with it came to the surface with me. What a letdown.
I had no faith in this movie.
Halloween Kills and Ends did to Halloween 2018 what Halloween 5 and 6 did to Halloween 4, and Halloween Resurrection did to H20. They undermined one of the best sequels which were each anniversary entries.
Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween IV-The Return Of Michael Myers (1988), Halloween H20-20 Years Later (1998), & Halloween (2018) are all awesome.
The rest are either garbage or mediocre as hell as far as I am concerned.
Halloween H20 was so good and a perfect send-off for Michael Myers. Thank you for the write-up! I never thought about the shitty sequels undermining how good certain past entries were. Although, I'd argue Ends makes everything look better by comparison! Thanks for watching!

Yes, Halloween 4-The Return Of Michael Myers (1988), Halloween H20-20 Years Later (1998), & Halloween 2018 all were great anniversary stories that paid tribute to the original and had Michael being taken down in a way that brought the story to a close. While the follow-ups afterward all undid everything these three accomplished. It is so stupid and insulting.
For me Halloween Kills was the worst. So much was just unbelievable like Laurie getting up after her surgery to fight with the townspeople. And the stupid slogans etc. I thought the acting overall was better in Halloween Ends and the story about Corey although a bit of a curve ball, added some suspense. It reminded me of Jamie's experience after touching Michael's hand at the end of Halloween 4 picking up "Michael's curse" and going on to kill her mother. I like how the initial sympathy for Corey as the town underdog, quickly changes as you see how much danger Laurie's granddaughter is in.
Funny review, Gavin! Yes, unfortunately Ends was a mess. Ends made Kills look like 4, it was that bad.

I don't know why everyone hates on Halloween kills, it was a good entertaining film which is exactly what you expect out of a movie. People want to knock the narrative and the story, but these fictional characters have never been built around as strong story so I don't know why people keep tripping out about the same old s***. Just enjoy the films for what they are.
Kills felt like Halloween 5. It wasn’t as good as the rest but it sure was fun and solid.
I have to agree with pretty much everything you said. I have been a long time Halloween fan Halloween 78!to me is the prime example of a slasher /horror film that still stands up today quite effectively so I was hopeful that this film would follow the lad of the original that it was suppose to be the culmination of
I was hoping for something with a lot of cat and mouse tension , , some good kills and of course an epic showdown of Laurie and Michael.
What we got didn't have the tone and feel of Halloween at all
The focus was not on the characters and themes that it should have been.
I think we should have got our most intense hardcore versions of Michael and Laurie but they dulled them both down.
They also did a diservoce to Allyson who I really liked in 18 and Kills
And they make her this sappy lovesick immature lackluster character.. and that was disappointing her character should have evolved and progressed into a strong leader
And worst of all is that they pretty much neglect and ignorored the main iconic figure of the franchise Michael Myers
Michael has been an unstoppable force a superhuman killing machine and he's a sad empty shell of that in this.
They diminish him and the entire legacy with this bullshit last installment.

My biggest problem with the DJ is the huge glass window pane in the studio. Right opposite the busy road... Room needs to be sound proof and you can't do that with glass properly. It was like they only had it in to show him walking past the building coming to kill him. So stupid
I worked in a studio that had windows and outside sound was often an issue. Whenever the mowers would mow the grass, it came through on the air. Can't imagine it being near a road. And thanks for hearing my rant!
In recording studios the windows between the live room and control/mix room is usually triple pane and thick…in the movie it obvi wasn’t:) Also the DJ was speaking into the side of the mic. The RE20 is not a side address mic…

I went and saw this with a once good friend of mine. Right after we left, I guess my positive experience hype was so great that it overshadowed any negative feelings I might have had. Now, I can't help but feel frustrated. Do I think this is the worst? No.
This is still better than Halloween 5, The Curse of Micheal Myers, and yes most certainly the Rob Zombie films.
However, that's just my take.

Yeah the last 20 min. couldve been tacked on to the final act of Kills and that wouldve been fine. But this Ends felt like cash grab.
At least, I watched three other movies this year that got my horror/thriller bloodpump flowing.

If they just treated Halloween Kills as the end of this directorial reign Kills could've been such a better movie & end. Like they killed all the legacy characters and Laurie's daughter so they could make this garbage?
Yeah, you slap the end of Ends onto Kills, take out the hospital stuff, and you have a damn good movie.
@@GavinLovesHorror the only people that get true closure from Michael getting ground up at the end are Laurie & Allyson. It would've been much more impactful if the other people Michael terrorized were there to see it and finally be rid of their "Boogeyman" for good too.
Instead of Corrie, they should have used Corky from Life Goes On.

They made the worst mistake by not having Michael get back to his full strength.
I still believe the best way to watch this franchise is the original, the original sequel and then H2O. Lori's final confrontation with Michael in H2O is light years better than this movie not to mention how badass the ending is when she cuts off his head.

Also the scene where he like got his powers back, he looked like he was a Dragon Ball character powering up it was hilarious.
Not to mention that considering he's survived hits to vital organs aka things a normal human shouldn't survive his death was so lame.
Personally I'd never have Michael Myers die, I'd have him ultimately win. But if it's gonna be done, give him a good death after a hard battle. I'd have him and Laurie kill each other personally
If it were DBZ, we'd still be waiting for Haddonfield to give Michael Myers the energy for a Spirit Bomb.

I mean where do I begin? I don't buy Corey and Alison's relationship. It just comes off as forced and it would have worked better if they were just good friends and then built up to that.
Also, I couldn't help but make your Christine Comparison with this movie. The thing is, the car was PRESENT THROUGHOUT that movie influencing Arny, Micheal BARELY dose anything to Cory.
I did not find the film boring. I agree that it did not make sense from a Halloween perspective. And even if the direction were a good idea, it was not well-paced.

I really liked Ends. We got Michael slashing around for 11 films. It was nice to see something new that tied an old, weak ass Michael back into final act of this film for him to be killed. Bro could not have been walking around the whole film at full capacity. Too damn old, too damn weak.

I’m going to call it now. Whoever decides to make the next Halloween film (titled Halloween Lives)the opening scene will show Corey’s body being wheeled into an autopsy center in Haddonfield the same night they killed Michael. The nurse, alone with the body to examine it, will uncover his face and his eyes will open with that same green haze in it that Michael gave him.
Yeah, they didn't throw Corey in the shredder so he can definitely come back. EVIL LIVES TONIGHT!

How many times has Michael been stabbed, shot, broken his neck, set on fire, etc? My theory is Corey isn’t dead.
Though, you know what movie has gone up for me that I'd rather watch?
Halloween: Resurrection.
Why? Because at least Resurrection at least knew what it was. Despite killing Lauire, I can accept it as a goofy film that watch with friends and poke fun with. That's not the case with Ends because it's trying to take itself way too seriously and failing miserably.

This film is more accurately to be compared to Jason goes to hell, and not Friday the 13 part 5. Friday the 13th part 5 at least had all the kills and vibes and soundtrack of that of Jason in fact you probably didn't even know it wasn't even Jason until the end of the film.
This franchise should have ended when the original series ended with Part 6 Producers cut. As everything since has been nothing but bad reboots and remakes
The movie was her reading from her memoirs, however she's writing from an institution. Nothing that we saw after kills actually happened

Sort of agree (it's trash) and sort of disagree (horror movies are moving on). Firstly, I'm not sure it's true modern horror is all that good. Maybe 1 in 1,000 titles are memorable. Mostly nihilistic garbage tbh.
The thing with M Meyers is that the character and associated lore now transcend "horror movies," he and his 80s buddies (Jason, Freddy) are part of the Monster canon. So he's not going away.
The fact that he's a commodity owned by a mega-Corp means the product will tend to come out broad and generic, sure. But he may still have a heyday. Remember Frankenstein? Universal milked that franchise to death and movies like House of Frankenstein are unwatchable retreads. But Hammer revived the character 20 years later and spawned another decade of solid genre movies.
I've never thought about Michael Myers being our generations Frankenstein (along with Jason and Freddy). But yes, they really did squeeze every little bit of money out of those franchises and appear to be doing the same for Halloween.
Started up my new show with a Halloween Ends review. So obvious us Halloween fans can’t be silent about it.
I mean the first one was good, and then... they just ruined it. I don't know what happened, I don't care for these reboots anymore, I'm going back to the Orginal Halloween. I would rather watch Halloween 4 and 5.

This is just my opinion, but I think Halloween kills is better than Halloween 5, The Curse of Pual Rudd, Resurrection, the Rob Zombie movies and yes even Kills. Just because at least, it was trying to do something new. Plus, unlike Halloween 4 where it's implied that Jamie was the killer at the end only for Halloween 5 to screw that up, this movie actually goes there. Not all the way admittingly, it dose kind of become a bit underwhelming near the end, but it did go there by trying to make Cory the killer and explored that none the less.

In fact, I'm actually kind of interested in asking what your take is on that film in particular because that is MY least favorite out of ALL the Halloween movies for numerous reasons. Not the least of which being the treatment of Jamie and Loomis.
@@Merit2397 Halloween 5 is, by all accounts, a terrible movie. But I have a weird fondness for it because it was one I watched a lot when they put it on AMC Fearfest. But I recognize it is awful.
@@GavinLovesHorror I see. Yeah, I gave this movie both a watch and a rewatch before I made up my mind and decided it was trash. If it gives you joy, I understand. Hell, I know that this is a weird comparison, but I actually watched the old universal Frankenstein movies with my dad on DVD no less, yes there is a Universal monster pack collecting them. When it got to Ghost of Frankenstein, I thought that that film was so cheesy and so awful that it came around to becoming so bad it's good for me.

This movie will be a setup for Halloween movie totally without Michael Myers. Maybe Allison who has Corey's child.. since the evil of Michael Myers was passed on to Corey it's passed on to her child. My prediction is that the child will go on a killing spree on Halloween like we all predicted with Jamie in part 5. That's my take
I'm with you on this movie. It's such a monumental disappointment. Michael and Laurie needed a big sendoff, but we have to spend most of the movie following Corey instead. At best, he should've been a secondary character in a subplot. But they dedicate so much time developing him at the forefront of the movie as if he will be the next Michael Myers in whatever version of the series continues on after this, and then they just kill him off in the third act and render most of the film's runtime a complete waste of time.
It sucks because the actor will probably get a lot of hate when it isn't his fault. I just don't know why they did everything the way they did.
@@GavinLovesHorror It's like they were all in on turning Corey into the new killer in the next movie, but someone came to their senses at some point during production and said, "Wait, no one wants Michael to be replaced by some copycat. So we gotta kill off Corey before the film is over."
And yeah, it's not Rohan Campbell's fault. He didn't make any of those decisions. He played the role he was given to the best of his ability. So he doesn't deserve to be derided for things he had no control over.

You made a good point. Put the last 20 minutes at the end of kills. They could have gotten rid of the chase the little troll dude through the hospital scene. Get rid of big John, little John scenes and put the last part of ends at the end of holloween kills.
It's been a year and I'm still mad about them clearly chasing the wrong guy in the hospital.

I’m not trying to defend ends, but they had to go that direction with Corey, or it would be Michael kills a bunch of people and then Lory kills him. I would of liked 20 more minutes of Michael in the movie. What I don’t like is they didn’t invest in the Cory character. They built him up and then killed him. They could of had him live and go back to the sewer. I understand that Michael got injured bad in kills. He took to magnum rounds to the chest. But then he regenerates from killing, then Corey just man handles him. They would have made Corey bigger in stature, so he could take over as the new shape. (If that’s a direction they wanted to go) But then again, I don’t think they knew what direction they wanted to go.
@@matthewcordeiro2073 Yeah, they had no idea what direction to go with. I think if you give Corey's arc to a character already established, it wouldn't have been so jarring and out of place. Also, why did Allyson have to suddenly have no purpose? Just very frustrating.

My version is Michael is in a different town. (There is a reason story wise) LORY has to track him down with her boyfriend sheriff guy. Michael is on a killing spree, because he can’t handle being away from hadenfield. Local police don’t believe lory when she tells them it’s Michael Myers. Michael finds a new version of his mask, in a holloween store. Lory, Alyson and the sheriff are on there own to capture or kill Michael.

Out of all the Trio I preferred Halloween Kills . Possibly though due to there being far more action from Michael and quite gruesome kills.
Halloween Kills has definitely grown on me since release, even if the hospital stuff still isn't my favorite.

Lets face it. The original franchise of parts 1 -6 Pcut are the only ones that matter. Everything after that is crappy insulting remakes and reboots. But ends is the worst of the worst
This movie was terrible…. Why did Michael hide in the sewer? Was he in quarantine trying to avoid Covid? Why did we even have to endure Corey? Why couldn’t Michael beat Corey in the sewer but then kills him later? Now we get to see David Gordon Green screw up The Exorcist!!!!
So many mistakes made by the movie that we may never get answers to.
For me I would take this one anyday over kills
As bad as the movie was new evil may have been conceived in Allyson’s bed as she consents to Corey piping her after just a couple dates as well as knowing that Corey had confessed to her a kill that she confuses with the accidental child death he was blamed for. Allyson came off as hyper sexual in this film. There was a strange sexual element altogether in Ends. Allyson drives off out of Haddonfield assumably forever at the conclusion of Ends but quite possibly carrying the seed of a new Halloween boogeyman. Stay tuned 🤷🏻♂️🎃🔪

I watched it last night...have to say I was really disappointed. I don't regret watching it but, like you said, why make a new character in the last movie, and we barely see micheal...

i was hoping that this movie gave us a glimps of what happened the next year after Kills and what laurie and co did when michael didnt show up
and all that transends stuff from the last film...doesnt that mean the more he kills the stronger he gets..after kills he was as strong as superman so what happened the next three halloweens to make him all weak in the beginning of this one

I didn't consider this a Halloween movie. This is a real stinker from a toilet bathroom. I love horror movies. There's another movie the dark 1979 about a zombie but it's not the real director thoughts but the replacement director made the creature into a alien shooting lasers. The mist up same kind of movie axected movie. This movie ended Halloween badly 🎃 to the greatness H20 best fighting scene an kill Micheal Myers.

I'm exactly backwards here. I surprisingly loved Corey and the majority of the film even though they didn't explain much and nothing made sense. I hated the ending with a passion. The Michael kill was lame to me (the kitchen scene wasn't long enough either) and the grinder was not good enough for him. It was too quick and he deserved more attention to his destruction even though it was a Laurie movie. A slow motion roll into an incinerator with his dismembered body would have been more ceremonious and respectful to the character and a call back to Loomis. Either way I think most of us had a point in the movie that we just loathed. When I rewatch it I'll end it when Michael grabs Laurie by the throat and call it a day. But yeah super waste of money in the theater. I will say that I absolutely love the scene where Michael kills Doug in the sewer with Corey holding him. And had they made Michael speak I would have walked out but I reaaalllyyy like how grunty he was. 😂 I'll give that shit a 6/10. Lol

I thought Halloween Kills was really good, pretty much what Michael Myers fans wanted. Halloween Ends was appalling, what a waste. The last 15 mins was alright but the rest was terrible. A story about teen angst and a bullied teen bossing Michael Myers around. Attrocious.

Halloween kills was misunderstood brilliance. One of the best in all of the Halloween franchise but it’ll be realized later on.
