Shorts are perfectly acceptable in the shop. As long as you are fully aware that at some point sparks from the grinder or a stray piece of scale bouncing off the knife as you're forging could burn your leg hair off 😂. I'm personally digging the every week videos! You got some great looking knives going man!
@@BKohnKnives I was just forging in shorts yesterday! I did get my leg once with a piece of forge scale but luckily I have blonde leg hair so it's hard to see a bald spot on my legs anyways. 🤣
I keep a bucket of water nearby and put the aluminum plates in the water between quenches. That cools them down pretty fast. Of course if you have them attached to a vice, it probably isn't that easy. Anywho, I wear hiking boots when I use the angle grinder or the belt sander so I don't get any hot sparks on my toes. Otherwise, I don't really have a dress code.
It would be nice to be able to quickly dunk the plates… I wonder how I could do that. I think a good rule is if there are sparks then long pants are required. 👍🏻
I feel awkward and sheepish pushing the Patreon. You think it’s okay? It will be a cold day in hell when I wear a kilt. I have zero Scottish blood in me and I’d feel super odd wearing a kilt
@BKohnKnives to be moderately successful, you also need to be a salesman. There is nothing wrong and everything good about having confidence in you and your product and believing it will provide a benefit for the user. That's what sales is.
Forging and grinding I agree, but I don’t see the leg burns coming from heat treating unless something major goes wrong. At that point I’m not sure the long pants are going to save me.

If I get burnt I only have myself to blame! When’s the last time you worked in shorts?

Bahahaha! I’m glad you are good bro.

Wear jeans and a t-shirt with shoes. Very nice job BK
95% or more of the time that’s what I do. Thank you
Keep an ice bucket nearby with steel to cool off your Al plates. And I only HT in crocs.
I was poring water on it and blowing it off with my air gun. Ice and plates would be a good idea
I excited to get mine keep up the good work 😊

Keep pushing the patreon. Shorts or a utilikilt.

I really appreciate that 🤝
I forged a knife on the Live Stream tonight in a tank top and shorts.
I’m thinking that’s what I’m gonna do when I do the live stream give aways for the Patreon.
Heat treating and grinding, long pants. I don't like burns!!

Just no drafty kilts please 😜
I can agree to that! 🤪
