Hello and thank you for this video. I have a small question, I usually put an angle on the bewel (émouture) because I find it more aesthetic. Aren't 90 degrees a must? I'll have to test it soon.
Really neat and thanks for sharing! I fully agree there's nothing wrong with using a file guild and grinding jig; we use a drill press and table to ensure a perfect 90 degree hole and tool rests on the grinder... whats the different?? Now as you watch the grinding footage you'll see the grind lines really weren't consistently straight. What do you think causes this and how did you correct it?
First off, thank you for this comment! Wavy bevels always seem to happen when I’m on camera! It’s caused by not meeting the platen square when you start the grind, uneven pressure throughout the grind, and pushing too hard... In other words, I was rushing it. If you slow down and take your time it never comes out like that. It’s also always fixable when you are free handing the rest of the way if you do end up with a wave. 👍🏻
Thanks for making the video. Can you do decent hollow grinds with this jig? I've one that's similar and it works great on the platen and the flat grind line follows the profile of the blade but on the contact wheel it doesn't work so well and the grind line is hard to lift up near the tip without blowing through the edge. Maybe it's technique or maybe that's a feature of using a fixture with the hollow grind technique - have you experienced this at all?
Sadly, I do not have a large wheel attachment for my Brodbeck 2x72. I’ve never attempted a hollow grind so I can’t speak for the TRMaker’s ability to help with that task.
I find that the screw system on the back is more then tight enough to hold it steady for me. If you talk to Yücel I’m sure he can help with your issue.
Hello, I have received a complaint from several people about this issue. I produced a special locking nut. we can solve this problem. contact me thanks www.tr-maker.com

You can angle the plunge line however you want. It’s just my style to have it 90° from the edge👍🏻
@@BKohnKnivesthank you ! The plunge line … I speak french and I could not remembrer the expression😂.
@@patrickvilda9929 no worries my friend. Best of luck
I bought his small wheel attachment and flat platen.. top quality stuff and very fast shipping.. highly recommend.
Thanks for the review
I couldn’t agree more! Thank you!

Great watch, do you break the 90s on the blade prior to grinding the bevel in the jig
I didn’t then, but I do now!
Once I move into my new shop that jig will be on my list. Thank for sharing.
If mine broke I would re-order immediately. It’s a great setup
Question, does the jig come with the file guide or is that sold separately?
It is sold separately. 100% worth it though
Just watched your clip very clear and easy to understand thank you be waiting for more
Thank you!
Merci pour cette présentation 👍
Depuis j ai acheté ce guide TR Maker et cela m’aide vraiment beaucoup pour mes premiers pas en meulage de couteaux 🔪
👍🏻
Will the file guide bolt up to any grinding jig?
I’m sure it could be modified, but this one is designed specifically for this jig
Where can I learn how to calculate the angle I need to set the jig to for different angles? I saw you using an app, would you share what app that was?
I will make a video on the app I use
Doesn't look like the billet is flatten, hence the uneven grind. Did you flatten it beforehand?
Back then I did not know how to. Now-a-days I am getting much straiter lines
Only issue I have with grinding jigs is that it makes it a real PITA to keep a heat treated and tempered blade cool enough to not ruin the temper.
Use a misting system and dunk the whole jig in a 5 gallon bucket of water
What app are you using to find the angle?
I have a video about that app. Find it on my page

@@BKohnKnives if you tie your knife well it will work fine.
I don't see the file guide listed on his site. Did you get it from him?
The file guide normally sells out as soon as he makes more. Contact him directly and he will let you know when he has more available
A KoolMist water setup would compliment that so good!
You called it! I have a review video shot and being edited as we speak!
Really a nice video!
Thank you!
Where did you get the plunge line jig that you use with the bevel jig?
Yücel also sells those! They sell out quick so you have to be ready when they restock
@@BKohnKnives Thanks man!
@@BKohnKnives where can i buy this bevel jig? Im from romania 😊
I had a lot of trouble with my tr maker jig the adjustment bar thread was loose and wouldn't hold a angle
I haven’t experienced that issue with mine... try contacting Yücel on Instagram and see if he has any way to fix your issue.
@@BKohnKnives he sent me a silly fix video and some messages that I couldn't understand so I modified it it's way better now
May I ask how you modified it?
@@BKohnKnives I added a nut to the top and bottom of the adjustment arm so when my angle is set I just tighten the nuts down its perfect now 👍👍
@@BKohnKnives I'll give you a follow on Instagram I'm dal_k_custom_blades 👍👍
I tried to get the file guide by itself but received no reply?
Did you try contacting TRMaker of Instagram? He is usually very responsive...
@@BKohnKnives Thank you
hi www.tr-maker.com
I swear this thing is always sold out lol... Can't wait to get one.
Yep it is. 😩
You’ve got to be quick to the draw when they are back in stock! 👍🏻
hello will be ready soon
Cool video, thank you
😎👍
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What 2x72 do you have?
I have a Brodbeck 2by72! Fantastic machine! I will be making a review video about it soon. Subscribe so you don’t miss it!
I bought one and it will not hold an angle. No way to lock it down

👍🤝💪 thanks bud!
Ok, so why didn't you show the process of what you have to do to grind the other side of the blade?
I’m going to make another video on this jig to show that all off. Thanks
