Randy was my guitar teacher and my neighbor! I was 12 when I started taking lessons from him until he left for Ozzy in late 79 when I was almost 14. I wish I knew what I had at the time, but he still talked with me about guitar. The REASON Ozzy even had a solo career! I grew up in the middle of all these Guitar Hero guys when they were just playing clubs! Keep up the good job! Question and answer riffs he did a lot! Oh yeah, it's S.A.T.O. ! Randy told me it meant one thing and Bob Daisley said it meant something else!
Cameron, for millions of us 80’s kids, Randy is right up there with Edward as most influential guitarist of our generation. You’re an amazing musician, Cameron. Appreciate you keeping the legacy of such great musicians alive.
Evh stands out to me because he has soooo many riffs that are unique, groovy, and super fun to play. I think out of any guitarist, Evh came up with the most songs that from the moment I first heard them, I knew I wanted to learn to play them. On my list of influential guitarists from the 80’s, Randy is almost tied with Vito Bratta for 3rd & 4th.
Randy Rhoads changed the game, he is on every level with Ed, if not even a better live player and writer. Ed chased tone and riffs, Randy wrote compositions. He is the reason Jackson guitars exists.
@@MF-Alien Ed was a riff writer, tone chaser....songs. Randy wrote compositions and was probably a more knowledgeable able player .Ed is obviously an all time great. If Randy is tied with vito you need to re- evaluate things, Listen to the countless bootlegs of Randy it changes the game and then the isolated guitar track. Vito would tell you he is not in the league with Randy.
YOU are such an inspiration to me. I finally got trem picking after 3 years of trying. THANK YOU for your videos. I bought the EVH 5150 guitar. I've been flushing out MY style. I've played guitar 44 years. Now I'm retired I can play an average of 6 hours a day.
One of my favourites from Randy was only played 3 times in 1 of the songs. It’s the riff that’s played before the solo in Diary of a Madman. It’s such a powerful riff and adds such an impact to the song despite being played a few times
I could tell from the thumb what lick was first, classic. Also, a classic riff from Randy is the prechorus of "I don't know". The big G to the apreggiated F! And his best solo imho is the outro for Tonight.
One of the most original. I can't really think of anyone who even tries to play like him. He had so many unique approaches to the guitar.. He and EVH are true GOATS. He's not blistering fast but doesn't need to be. I was surprised when u said Lee was your fave Ozzy guitar. But everyone has their opinion. That's cool
absolutely two guys who changed the game, Randy was so unique He said what now? Jake is really good, but even jake would say he was intimidated having to replace Randy
Do you know the story behind that Steal Away the Night riff? The band was in the studio recording a couple of songs for Blizzard. Randy was warming up in his room and he was playing that opening riff as a warm up exercise. Ozzy heard that down the hall, came rushing down the hall, burst open the door to Randy's room and asked him "What the hell was that?" Randy told him that he was just warming up. Ozzy said 'Remember that. That's going to be our next song."
This series you done on Jake and Randy are invaluable to me as they are my favorite players as well along with King EVH a massive thank you for tips and lessons it is appreciated much more than I can put into words. You are the best and one hell of an inspiration to me! I have been a long time subscriber and your generosity is unparalleled. Thank you Cam🤟🏻
Take my super Like Cameron!! I would have liked to see you with the Edwards LP Custom, but it sounded great anyway. Greetings from the best country of Chile!!!
Love Randy Rhoads, he’s one of the reasons I got into playing guitar in the first place. Imagine all the music he could have created if he hadn’t been taken from us so soon.
Steal Away the night is actually on a guitar lesson someone recorded with Randy in 1979 on youtube, he had the basic riff for i that he played. He talks about how he had to learn how to write songs with the vocals and melody in line.
Hey Cameron I unscrewed the Toggle switch from the front and unscrewed the back plate and turned the toggle so the bridge is up like Ed did it. This allows for tapping without bumping into the toggle. It's real easy to do. I also put 8s instead of 9s adjusted the truss accordingly plays great.
I like that you chose 3 songs that do not get the attention they should, the rhythm on Believer is insane.... too bad he never played S.A.T.O. live.....the countless bootlegs we post on the legacy page, he changes those other two songs nightly. Randy Rhoads music is clinic onto itself... I recommend people check out the isolated guitar tracks for both albums and the Live Mr. Crowley EP.
Love all the Randy licks as usual! You always do them so precise! Please remember to cover the lick/scale at 3:54 into Suicide Solution on the Tribute album. I have never heard anyone else do it or anyone else cover and explain it. Thanks!
One the main reasons I love your channel is that you never bought into the gotta take sides of EVH or RR. Live, love and learn from BOTH! Why limit greatness?
Cameron there is one riff Randy does on the Suicide Solution live solo in Cleveland in 1981. He opens with 2 ascending n descending runs then stops. Then does this 3 note per string climb n the riff he does right before he starts the diminished arpeggio descending n ascending run. Do you know what he is doing there. Nobody has covered that live version which is the best IMO.
Cameron great riffs, could I ask what is your goal to be a full time musician, playing for a rock band, I believe you could play for anyone your playing is incredible, continued success whatever you do.
A little off topic but my dk24 is the easiest guitar i have played. I wish my strat played as easily. I will say i played a gibson sg that also was very easy. I love my dk24.

@@MF-Alien Vito doesn’t get enough recognition. He was an incredible musician in his prime.
Millions of us 80's kids never put the two as up there with each other. It was either one or the other. They were two completely different animals

Steel Away the Night feels like the sort of riff that comes out of a fingering exercise.
S.A.T.O. is pure gold from start to finish
Yea sato has always gave me goosebumps and still does. Love those riffs
OUTSTANDING !!! 3 of my favorites also !!! Along with Diary !!! Thank you 🤘✊🤘✊

Great lesson Cameron, S.A.T.O is a fav of mine and also ‘ No Bone Movies’ is a great RR Riff imo . Good job dude 🤘
God, I miss Randy ! Even after all these years.... Thx for the video though. Really appreciated.

truly the day the music died...what a loss.
Though he would have forged a path in other genres as he was most likely leaving Ozzy
This Blackstar sounds amazing !!❤❤❤
I was never an EVH guy for some reason but to me RR was massive inspiration.
Randy was every bit the player Ed was, but a better writer.
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle If not better then more alike to my personal preferences. They were very different to each other.
Man that Charvel is so beautiful. Dk24 is the best neck in my humble opinion.
Smashing Cam as usual!! Truly some of the greatest riffs ever. Thanks
Top notch choices! Lovely!
That evh Stealth sounds so good, 🙌
EXCELLENT...Thank you!

You Can't Kill Rock and Roll all time favorite Believer probably a close second, thanks Cameron you rock bro!
YCKRNR Is a great song, a fantastic intro....
Thank you SO MUCH for this 🙏!!!!!
Great lesson Cameron
Love it! Really really nice Cam!

3 of my top 5 RR riffs!!!

Great break down of my fav guitarist! Thank you Cameron! If at some point you could do a break down of the solo for SATO that would be fantastic!
Randy Rhoads an all-time A leaguer
80s guitar is so fun to play and sounds so epicccccccc - like unchained by evh
Awesome video. Thanks for posting.
You are amazing,love your playing😊
Great video! I also love Believer. Well Diary of a madman is a masterpiece..
the whole album is a masterpiece, an unfinished masterpiece
First! Sweet sounds.
Wow! I play SATO completely different. I'll have to do a video of the way i learned it.
Good, I can do this! My fingers don't stretch enough to do the one from Jake! Thanks!
Love these videos ! 🎉😅😊

Good choices
The Steal Away The Night riff is reminiscent of Jupiter by Holst. Boss vid.
Great video! I'm a new subscriber but I'd like to see Steve Vai next, if possible. Thanks!
Gus G he does some super sick scales
goat
Awesome. Do you learn full songs or riffs and chunks of songs. Thank you.
It would be awesome to keep it going with Ozzy and do 3 from Iommi and 3 from Wylde!
rather him do all of randy's stuff before getting to the lesser players and writers

Randy was killed 2 weeks after I got my ticket to an upcoming show which was in June..I was devastated. His music lives on
the riffs did not make him great, he made the riffs great. All time great player and writer. Randy Rhoads an elite A-leaguer
Cameron great riffs, could I ask what is your goal to be a full time musician, playing for a rock band, I believe you could play for anyone your playing is incredible, continued success whatever you do.
I'd love to put an album out at some point
Lynch!
Love your tone Cameron. Modeler?
Yep! Blackstar AMPED 3

3 Tutorials That Made Cameron Cooper Great…
Steady on! I'm not that great aha
@@CameronCooper Okay, let’s pick out some Nuno…?
How's the stability of that neck? Are the roasted maple ones far better than the non roasted ones or can you live without them no problem?
Roasted ones are more stable but it's not a deal breaker for me
Awesome....so is there a 3 riffs that made Zakk Wylde??
Just one pinch squeal
thats charvels best gutiar , my favorate of all my gutiars
SATO: ‘Sort of question.’ Love it. 👍🏻
How about Devils Daughter by Zakk Wylde?
How bout some Akiro Takasaki licks?
Who?
@@CameronCooper Sorry, misspelled. *Akira Takasaki of Loudness
How about Warren DiMartini, Amir Derakh or Greg Howe?
Steve vai please
Are those stock pickups?
Yes
i bet you started on nylon spanish guitar.. i can tell from your playing style
I didn't start on that. Never owned a Spanish guitar in my life
Maybe just me, but I think your tone was much better with the Yamaha…
Wish you used the les paul for this one
I knew someone would say that. It's not my guitar and I don't have it
