    Interesting how some people get offended on the subject like this and go immediately like, go spar a proffesienal mma fighter, Tommy is God to you, etc... Such infinitely stupid comments will get deleted, so don't even try.

    I love this JKD, simple and straightforward. It's wonderful to use all the extra stuff we pick up along the way but simplicity will always be direct. Great teaching!

    . . . you're looking for targets, not obstructions ... brilliant, that describes most of the JKD community, teaching students to deal with obstructions rather than getting to the root of the problem and shutting it down. 👍

    I really like the pad work at the end. Instead of just talking about it, you're showing an example of how you train it and develop those skills. Good stuff, Thomas!

    The high line engagement is also wing chun
    Huen soa(circular hand) and beau sau (shooting fingers).

    This is very good, I did boxing and fencing with the jab is common very tricky against a southpaw I found, good for setting traps as well hooking the parry and manipulating the distance.

    jkd, three most important or essential ingredients are fencing, boxing and wingchun.

    JKD is so simple ........but incredibly deadly !!!!!! And no, it's not simple to learn. Thousands of reps and training. I'm studying more fencing now to understand the footwork better

    the most striking characteristic of jkd is fencing.

    Makes perfect sense. Simple Direct and Efficient is the best. IFO INTERCEPTING FIST ORGANIZATION. Tommy Carruthers 🐉 🐉 we train to hit targets. Why block when you can strike. Save time. Bruce Lee was way ahead of his time. Tommy Carruthers is doing it the way Bruce Lee intended.

    Did Tommy study with Ted Wong? There seem to be a large number of Ted’s protégés teaching online and of course numerous offshoots. What enhancements does your approach have?

    • @ThomasMarxJKD
      @ThomasMarxJKD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, he was also certified by Ted Wong... Ted Wongs JKD is more sport fighting, as Ted stated himself on at least two Seminars. at one of these where Jesse Glover was giving a seminar together with Ted Wong. Our apporoach is towards street combat, where Bruces emphasis was, thats why Bruce focused on vital targest, like we do.

    Dan Inosanto is one of the big gest frau dst ers in martial arts. His "as many arts as possible" (his words). Was designed to keep students coming in paying him money. Sc s ammer.

    But I have seen Jesse Glover (one of Tommy `s instructors) still heavy on chi sau and trapping.Actually I prefer your economical and practical approach:go for the target.
