Who else came into this video as a guilty pleasure but left it kinda feeling a bit sympathetic for Whitney for her struggle to face her own inadequacies and move forward?
I really enjoy her work. I do wish she could let herself enjoy her successes as opposed to succumbing to the idiots. She’s a lovely woman. She’s a brilliant comedian and 8:58 writer. I’ve noticed she recently appears to be more of a breath of fresh air, happier. Thank you Whitney for continuing to make us laugh.
I can’t imagine being so disconnected you think you’re above someone being mean to you, it’s called life, I feel no sorrow for her and cheer at her downfall
Anyone using age, race, sex, religion ect to explain why they are a victim- just aren’t that good at their job. Could be a female comedian, could be a male plumber.
I think it's important to remember that part of the fundamental nature of the internet sphere is to blow things out of proportion for views, likes, and clout, and I wish Whitney would remind herself of this before putting herself in front of the firing squad with certain things that she says. I think, like most people, she is her own worst enemy, at least in terms of not being "one of the cool kids," but this isn't something that's all bad for her either. She's incredibly competent, and this has led to her being successful as a sitcom writer and show runner. People look to her and depend on her; she was gonna run Roseanne if you remember. This is not something you can say about all successful stand up comedians. Roast era Whitney was a cool kid -- that's a bad bitch, straight up. I think she just grew up a little, if you'll allow me some poetic license in describing things. I hope that woman chooses happiness one day, and never looks back, though I'm someone who would consider themselves more indifferent, than anything, to her stand-up career (this is a truly insignificant thing to point out, as we are all indifferent to 99.9% of the stand-up material available to us). She has achieved quite a lot. She's talented. She's funny. She's not everybody's go to (again, what an obvious, stupid, and pointless thing to point out), but she wouldn't be on the level she is if she wasn't these things. P.S. Take this with a grain of salt, I guess, because if you couldn't tell, I'm a straight up simp for her, and if there is a heaven, it is going to involve her sitting on my face quite often (damn, this close to being a gentleman!). I mean, goddam Whitney, it was already a miracle that my vocabulary extends beyond the words "butt" and "stuff," and then here you come with an ass that most women can make a career out of these days! P.P.S. Actually, I have been personally offended by internet comedy critics' treatment of a certain comedian, as of late. Y'all better start puttin' some motherfuckin' respect on Tom Segura's name again! Shit is lame, ridiculous, and pathetic. I'm looking at you, Comedy Enforcement, ya charlatan. Tom, you can sit on my face too!
Saying “you’re not funny” is the most direct thing a person can say meaning that they are insulting you, not your fans. Also if you weren’t deeply insecure, someone saying that would mean absolutely nothing to you.
I don't get why people like you say this sort of stuff so confidently. Anyone, especially those that reach a high level in their craft, is deeply protective of it. You don't just reach a height where everything rolls off your shoulders. It's not fair to criticize a person, then attack their character on top of that because they had the audacity to respond
@@clips1404 if you’re sure to mention that your cut from a different cloth from the rest of society saying at every turn that no one else has the capacity to do the job that you do, like Whitney and other comedians do, I am positive that that person is in a position where others can criticize whatever content they put online. Whitney, along with countless other comedians, are nowhere near audacious. They do not push the envelope of their medium of entertainment, they are mostly spineless unfunny hacks who are trying to milk every last penny off of their likeness exploiting their fans. @1:43, if women have to work twice as hard to get half of the respect as men and its so much more difficult for women to get attention for talking then why did Oprah and Ellen have the biggest talk shows in recent history? Her logic completely breaks down under scrutiny and she's just playing the victim for sympathy.
I liked her show, and I think she was really funny. I also think she’s beautiful. Having said that, unless she’s talking to Tim Dillon I don’t like her podcast, or when she makes excuses.
Can you imagine the active response & reaction another comedian would get to have acted in the way whitney did in that interview? - one that just so happened to be a male. The closest example of a cemedian getting super real & emotional on their podcast is someone like bobby lee but (correct me if im wrong) the vast majority of the time it happens he somehow manages to find a way to leave me in stitches. Is it wrong to see it that way? I dont know I guess I could be tripping as well.
I realise we all have our own opinions. Even if we sometimes act like we like something we dont. At the end of the day , we have to be honest with ourselves. Whitney to be honest . Its an easy fix. Stay out of the limelight. Not saying forever , it something yougotta feel the waters with. People hate complaining people. Not here and there but all the time . complaining. Theres a person out there that wakes up wonders if hes gonna eat or if little johnny is gonna feel better today or if all of your medical test are gonna vome back neg... They see this person that has a steady flow of good money . Not a problem that matters(health, shelter, food) complain cause "im not liked" come on girl the more a persons face is seen the more likely , people are gonna hate you .. aspecially when you complain about stuypid stufff.. By the way...... I love Joes standup comedy... Just saying
It’s like the female equivalent of people saying their shadowbanned.. She’s a nepo baby + me not really enjoying her comedy style + her intense insecurity are the reasons why I’m not a fan - not because she’s a female.
You can't record 400 days of conversations without saying something that will get you picked apart. Whitney is a good comic. Comment sections call her unfunny, but her peers don't say that.
Her peers do because they get something out of being associated with her - she knows a lot of Hollywood business people and celebrities. I don’t believe for a second that most of them find her funny. Remember a lot of the same people have Brendan Schaub on their podcasts and do podcasts with him purely because they’re his friends.
I watched every episode of the Whitney sitcom. It wasn’t actually that bad. It had some really great supporting cast. I believe the reason her show failed was because it was a 90’s style sitcom and most producers, directors, writers etc… hadn’t figured out yet that the world had moved on. If Whitney had debuted in 1999 it would have killed. I really like her standup and joke writing, but objectively, she was probably the weakest character on her own show. She played it almost like Jerry Seinfeld did. Seinfeld got away with bad acting because the writing and supporting cast was transcendent. Whitney was cut from similar cloth. If her show had lived longer, it’s possible it could have gotten over the growing pains. Her shows flaws combined with bad timing in the industry.
Women are more attuned to negativity and victim mentality. So it's not something so bad. Also, I like her comedy. I used to think that women can't be funny but after seeing her content. I changed my opinion. I watched her show too. Even though it has some flaws but overall I liked it. I watched 2 Broke Girls but couldn't get pass Season 2. But overall I like her personality and humor.
Her standup comedy isn't funny. 2 Broke Girls wasn't funny. The Whitney TV show wasn't funny. Whitney also has that creepy "Madonna vibe", as she uses Botox, silicon, collagen etc. in a vain attempt to look like she is in her 20's... when she is in her 40's. But she is friends with Joe Rogan, so I guess she can still have a career in comedy/podcasting.
I don't care for Whitney Cummings, but hate does come from nowhere a lot. I've seen many people hated for no reason in my life. Pigs and chickens will get bored and will single one out in the group and pick on them. Until the point that they eventually kill them. There's no reason for it besides boredom. People are the same way. I've seen plenty of people hated for no reason or imaginary reasons.
The line about "protecting her fans" is such a load of bs. As if she wasn't a comedy fan herself younger before she made it big and had her favorite comedians. I can't tell you how many people I tried to get into Tim and Eric/ It's Always Sunny, etc. just to hear how bad it was to them and that I'm weird. I didn't care. Fans like what they like. She was just going through a meltdown and that to her felt like a justifiable enough excuse from an emotional release
I think the most simple way to put it is she is cringe. You always see girls complaining how guys are cringe. Honestly I dont think most men see very many women as cringe, but Whitney fits the profile. Her comedy is not good to the majority of comedy consumers. Thats why she see so much hate. I am glad she does have an audience, but I am not one of them. Its just the way it works.
A big part of comedy fans just think whatever they are told is funny, is funny. Like example, Rogan told Brendan Schaub he was funny...and he wasn't, but because Rogan said, hollow empty people with no opinions just echo it. Some of her stuff is funny and some isn't.
I heard her complaining long before I heard her comedy. Her comedy isn't for me but I don't dislike her for it. She gets on my nerves because she creates this narrative that she's persecuted and a victim. You're famous. You made it! Look how many people know your name! Instead of trying to spread "female comic awareness" she should be their Harriet Tubman. Get them female comics to Joe Rogan's comedy Mothership, Whitney! It's time to get to the underground female road! Ohhhhhhh Hmmmmmm ohhhhhh!
To me. What’s annoying about some comics is that they want to be philosophers and political commentators and motivational speakers and taken seriously but the second they get any criticism it’s “I’m a comedian… I’m a clown… I’m the court jester… I’m just joking”. People like Whitney, and Callen and Segura, and Shultz and even Rogan get this idea that people pay to come see them be funny, so they must want to hear all of my other opinions on stuff. And when you have opinions on everything there’s bound to be people that don’t like or agree with those opinions. Rogan at least stays out of the comments and does his thing regardless. At least you don’t hear him complain about haters.
Whitney's problem is she was an actor writer who got into stand up early but she is actually better at acting and writing. She should have focus on making series and films than stand up.
I've seen only one of Whitney's specials, the one with the sex doll she had made to look like her, and I thought it was actually pretty good so it always blew me away that she gets this tidal wave of hatred from people online. None of her takes are really that insane or awful, she seems like a decent person, I think the only real thing she does that makes people not like her is give attention to people who don't like her. I mean her biggest sin seems to be that she's insecure and a female comedian, and if she was flatly not funny at all she wouldn't be this successful. I think because she's open and vulnerable and insecure she reflects a lot of aggressive and sexists attitudes in our culture and people really hate that.
She wants to be the underdog but she hit it big before 30 and with 2 Broke Girls is basically rich forever and her kid will be well off. She now tries to lower herself by being part of the Rogan sphere of comics. She should be focusing on writing and acting which she's better at. Stand up was just the launching pad.
Norm also had a podcast, show and was the spokesperson for poker games. And Joe Rogan isn’t a comedian either (which I think Good Rant covered). Not saying she’s right. But food for thought when you go in on somebody
I think she's funny, but her excessive rants on people who don't think she's funny is a turn off. She obviously has a lot of insecurities. I'm sure that is intensified by the industry she is in. The level of truth is behind what she is saying, is severely magnified by her insecurities. I'm sure some people don't like her because she is a woman. I doubt that it's a high enough percentage to effect her audience. People like confidence, but not ego. She walks this line of ego and insecurity, which isn't appealing. Which is a turn-off for a lot of people. I think if she would get to the point of just relaxing and enjoy what she's doing and stop worrying about the people who don't like her. She would at least be able to live in the moment of enjoying the success she has had and is having.
I remember when she blew up all those years ago from doing Roasts. Patrice O'Neal and other comedians were wondering why she kept getting big tv gigs and already had 2 shows on a major network and was writing them both. Then they revealed that she was dating a guy at the network and that was why. But none of them thought that she was funny. I personally still don't find her funny. And it doesn't help that she's always spewing woke bs because she's always around her celebrity friends, until her comic friends bring her back to Earth.
Jesus Christ. Her father was a lawyer and venture capitalist who went to Harvard and a big part of her thing was about her model esque white women westernized looks. Few other comedians, white or otherwise, benefitted more from the white American patriarch than her. And to call her unfunny isnt an attack on her fans. To think calling her unfunny is an attack on her fans is an attack on her fans.
The problem is she wants to be seen as an intellectual and a funny person. When she is neither of these things.

If those women I listed don't get a laugh, they work on their material. If Whitney doesn't get a laugh, she calls people names, pulls the woman card and alienates herself from possible fans. Online hate sucks, but you have the option not to pay attention to it. It should fuel you to get better, not warp your mind into thinking all comedy fans are bad.
love your content, please stay consistent
Much appreciated. I'll do my best!
OK, the fact that she had to say "the white man thing" what kind of bullshit is that?
lmao
It's a strategy she's using to keep her current audience in trying to convince them she's their protector in some way.
Anyone using age, race, sex, religion ect to explain why they are a victim- just aren’t that good at their job. Could be a female comedian, could be a male plumber.
People dislike her so much because no one thinks she's funny but she keeps _insisting_ that she is 🙄
Great video! Very on point imo. It's almost like she just doesn't understand the core components of comedy.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it!
I want to like her, but seems she's way too focused on herself and it's an endlessness of ME, ME, ME ~ which quickly becomes tiresome!
All comedians are deeply insecure
@@clips1404 if you’re sure to mention that your cut from a different cloth from the rest of society saying at every turn that no one else has the capacity to do the job that you do, like Whitney and other comedians do, I am positive that that person is in a position where others can criticize whatever content they put online.
Whitney, along with countless other comedians, are nowhere near audacious. They do not push the envelope of their medium of entertainment, they are mostly spineless unfunny hacks who are trying to milk every last penny off of their likeness exploiting their fans. It’s all a large grift.
All comedians are narcissit.
@@clips1404 if you're sensitive like whitney just say that... Someone that isn't insecure wouldn't take offense from a stranger lol. Enough people say it, it might just be true
Genius take! Well said.
I liked Whitney when it came out. I don't know if I would still like it. I did not like two broke girls.
They hate her because she has "to be twice as good." 😂
Keep it up bro! 🔥🔥
Thanks man!!
The first few seasons of 2 broke girls were cool but kat dennings was major part of that
Idc i really love Whitney she’s a great comic and seems like a really great person who gets unnecessary backlash that’s why when it happened she gets defensive about it. But I fw her comedy and her amazing podcast. Keep killin’ Whitney‼️💯
You have to care about the people who love you instead of the people who don't
Great video. Looking forward to more
Thanks. More to come!
My wife and I are both huge comedy fans and we have tried to like her but she’s just not interesting or funny.
This is good analysis. Given me a lot to think about.
Crying about people hurting your feelings, as a comedian, is a bad look
“I have to be twice as good to get half the respect”
If she sees herself on the same level as Tim, then she must see herself as 4x as good at comedy….
@1:43, if women have to work twice as hard to get half of the respect as men and its so much more difficult for women to get attention for talking then why did Oprah and Ellen have the biggest talk shows in recent history? Her logic completely breaks down under scrutiny and she's just playing the victim for sympathy.
I love how she has read these comments ❤
I love this accent, is it from any particular province or city in england?
Thank you! I'm from Hertfordshire. But I've been living in North America for 10 years so it's pretty watered down.
The thing is bobby is actually funny
@chenetalphonse3504 ssmmsaying though.
Just saying
One subject sex thats it with every female comic they dont talk about anything else .
It’s like the female equivalent of people saying their shadowbanned.. She’s a nepo baby + me not really enjoying her comedy style + her intense insecurity are the reasons why I’m not a fan - not because she’s a female.
Nepotism how?
@@EnidWellness not nepo, my b - comes from a well-to-do family but has said she ‘grew up poor’ 🥴
Thinking SNL is the cool kids....thats part of her problem right there
You can't record 400 days of conversations without saying something that will get you picked apart.
Whitney is a good comic. Comment sections call her unfunny, but her peers don't say that.
Seriously. I always go to her stand-up shows when she tours near me, and she's alwasy fukn' hilarious. Her stand-up works live in-person for sure.
Her peers do because they get something out of being associated with her - she knows a lot of Hollywood business people and celebrities. I don’t believe for a second that most of them find her funny. Remember a lot of the same people have Brendan Schaub on their podcasts and do podcasts with him purely because they’re his friends.
@@cady__ she's not on my list of podcasts I frequent, but I tune into her stand up and her roasting is cutthroat.
There’s never been an obsession with female comedians
Not sure what she was thinking there...
1:53 I love his “okay….?”
When you constantly search for a reason to be offended you will eventually find one
She was just going through a meltdown and that to her felt like a justifiable enough excuse from an emotional release
she wants to control the uncontrollable
Great Pod Bro. New Sub.
Thanks I really appreciate it!
@@TheGoodRant Always... Keep Up the Great Work Brother. Have a Good One
Its just the way it works.
omg Her and Chris D'Elia had a show? lmaooo thats hilarious how they ended up being successful in standup.
I remember her talking about it on Howard
She’s that friend that have to defend constantly. “Dude she’s not a bitch she’s just having a bad day”
Only saw her once on kill tony, i dont remember having a strong opinion of her in either way. People spend too much time watching podcasts.
Like most modern female comics, she was occasionally funny in her 20s/early 30s then the bitterness begins to set in and it will only get worse.
If she removed the word "like" from her vocabulary half of the hate would disappear
Bro u so articulate , intelligent and posh sounding , i was surprised when i saw ur black. Sry for the casual racism i am not from the US
A big part of comedy fans just think whatever they are told is funny, is funny. Like example, Rogan told Brendan Schaub he was funny...and he wasn't, but because Rogan said, hollow empty people with no opinions just echo it. Some of her stuff is funny and some isn't.
Yes that’s so true!
She’s not a listener.
You should cover Lilly Singh! I haven’t heard anyone talk about her Ted Talk before
Rogaine is a billionaire, he wipes his tears and ass with his own money. The amount of crap he gives about his fans opinions is zero
@@jonshaqqir4575 agree. And as much as he annoys me sometimes, I can appreciate that he doesn’t give a f&ck about me.
Interesting take! I wondered the same thing.
So many of these comedians are unbelievably sensitive and delusional. You tell jokes. Relax.
When you say I’m not funny, you’re attacking other people, and I will protect them. 😂 there’s no way she actually said that
What a cool channel. First time I have seen it ‘I was today old.’ I hate that saying. It’s so stupid.
Other than not being funny, she's very successful.
I always took her as someone who thought their shit didn't stink.
