In this video, we look into the Rogansphere and how Joe Rogan’scircle of friends leveraged their connections to get famous. Ari Shaffir, Bert Kreischer, Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen, are all comedians who achieved success through their association with Joe.

Arguably the most famous comedian is Bert. He's got the joke everyone knows and has a movie. And they all treat Bert like the least talented one.
In that regard, Joe is more like Johnny Carson. Carson wasn't a stand-up, but he could 'make' a comedian's career just by calling them over to the couch for 60 seconds.

My problem with Bert is that he’s made a career out of being a drunk asshole in denial of his addiction. For a certain amount of time, it was funny. But now it just isn’t necessarily funny, it’s just sad. And Schaub and Callen haven’t ever been funny. Tom is the only one i have liked for a longer time, although he’s an elitist douche.
The WORST thing to happen to Tom was the Rogansphere, and I will never understand why he hitched his wagon to Bert. He is the only one in the inner circle that is even remotely funny.
The one clip where they're all wearing suits and smoking cigars is hilarious, but not in the way they intended. Just a bunch of classy, stool-humping, drink-drugging gentlemen.

Tom's an elitist, but his specials are good and I watched YMH for a while before it lost it's energy to me. A similar thing goes for Ari. Bert isn't very good. I can understand why Theo has a following, but he isn't my favorite. Joey Diaz is hilarious, but I don't really have a drive to search his stuff out. Mark is a great guest, but his comedy is just a worse form of Mitch Hedberg to me. Brendan is a hack, and I don't find Brian Callen funny and haven't watched his stuff(same goes for redban). Shane Gillis is my favorite comedian right now, I love his podcast, and he reminds me of a more right leaning and younger version of Louis CK(my all-time favorite).
Overall, I don't think there's really a "rogansphere" with any design behind it. They're his friends who are trying to do comedy anyway, and the only people that arguably have gotten a huge undeserved boost from Joe would be Brendan and Bert.

If he never tried standup comedy he would still be famous for UFC, Fear Factor, and being a podcasting pioneer/mogul. I dont think he has distanced himself from Joe Rogan, he has been branching out and becoming very mainstream in a way that is very positive and legit for him. Joe got payed a large sum of money at an early age from disney, thus he never had to address his insecurities that are prevalent in his behavior to this day. I feel like their success is all on the graves of Patrice O'neil, Greg Geraldo, etc, the O&A show. So many good comics gone, leaving a vacuum for the true sucky comics to shine brighter.

I don’t look at Rogan as a comedian, I see him more of a pod cast king and an entertainer.
Podcast is usually good and it's hilarious when he talks about bears, chimps etc attacking people, but he's not a comedian
We're living in an era where people will outright defend the statement "Dave Chappelle is the greatest comedian of all time" despite he's had like 5 absolutely shockingly bad specials in a row. Killing Them Softly was amazing, but Dave SUCKS in general.
He gave up on writing jokes once he signed his Netflix deal. Now he just leans into the truth-teller shtick for the internet's dumbest reactionaries.
Yeah Dave has been mediocre at best, downright diabolical at worst in the latter half of his career, but the early work he did was actually pretty decent whether you like him or not

Joe used to put Ari and Joey Diaz up in the same hotels that he stayed at, and take them to the five star steak houses where he ate. NO ONE does that for an opener or a middle.
Nobody is saying he’s a cheap person. As a matter of fact, they address it early on in saying that Joe takes care of his friends. The problem is everything else.

I genuinely don't find Ari funny. I can get down with shock comedy, but there needs to be a humorous aspect of it. Ari doesn't say funny things, he just says or does the most jarring thing he can think of. He's an edge lord by profession. The dude just sucks. I've watched all of his specials, and only laughed a time or 2 in each. He's also always the worst part of Protect Our Parks. I'd rather Bert was a part of it instead.
Have you seen his special "Jew"? I feel like it's hard hard to be objective without saying that's a well constructed special, but if you watched it and still think the guy is a talentless comedian than more power to you

It's probably just because he portrays such a brash obnoxious douche, that it's surprising when he gives genuinely thoughtful and empathetic answers or perspectives. When he's not trying so hard to play a character, I think he's interesting.
His special "Jew" is shockingly good. His others are mid at best, but I couldn't believe how good "Jew" was. I've watched it a half dozen times.

Funny thing is burt said the machine story first on Dr. Drews show he used to have. Drew even said he need to tell that story on stage its literally recorded like 6 months befoe he told it on rogan, and rogan told him to do it on stage. So truth me told Dr. Drew made burt who he is today....

Honestly, I remember Bert being a host on the Travel Channel and thought he was alright doing that. It's so wild to see him now.
Although Rogan himself is the unfunniest comedian I've ever seen, I have tried to watch all of those guys do stand up, and can't sit thru 5 minutes... It's weird; they seem to be funny just talking during a podcast or a radio show, but their actual stand up is terrible. Theo, Gillis, and Tim Dillon seem to have the funniest contributions on a podcast, but I still don't think they're stand up is that great. Tom Segura is so lame and it's actually mind-boggling that this guy actually made money and got famous from stand up comedy.
Bert is the only comedian talentless enough to not recognize the humor in the machine story.

I used to watch JRE a lot, but I always had a natural aversion to the episodes with his comedian friends. I never watched them. You can just tell they’re not funny from the unavoidable clips of them and I’m sure I never missed out on anything.
Nice video dude. I remember when burrrt was telling that story about how they texted each other to coordinate Gillis' introduction. I don't think I was able to listen to that whole episode because i can't listen to burnt cruncher for longer than 10 seconds.
