    Beautiful video Philip, I learned a lot about AF! Have you used the Sony bluetooth remote with C1 assignability? I use that to trigger AF/MF remotely and avoid shaking the camera. Can also re-assign the Rec button as a second function key.

    • @philipbloom
      @philipbloom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Brandon. I use it with the mirrorless Sony’s. Does it work with the FX6? I didn’t think it did, it needs it. How do you reassign the red button?

    • @BrandonLiUnscripted
      @BrandonLiUnscripted 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@philipbloom I have only used it with A7siii. I guess I just assumed it was compatible with the other cams. On A7siii the top rec button is one of the custom buttons. I guess I should have mentioned I've never used an FX6 sorry!

    The only thing I wish Sony would change now with the FX6 is to not bake in LUTs when shooting in custom mode, but would allow you to monitor a LUT-much like when in CineEI mode. For the instances when I have to shoot in custom and may not be going into a raw recorder but need log

    • @philipbloom
      @philipbloom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Yeah it’s weird quirk. Part of the reason I always use an external monitor or EVF. You can of course shoot in Cine EI with an MLUT, then you can see your exposure and it’s no different adding gain in post to the cameras doing it for you in custom.

I'm especially looking forward to your Xperia Pro-I review and how the hell to get 50fps out it to match the FX6 because I've failed. I second shoot weddings sometimes and hear over and over "How do you keep locked onto your subjects? My other second shooters using Sony the focus jumps around". I just tell them "Manual autofocusing". Ever since Philip first used the term (probably on the FX9 review) I've adopted it both into how I explain autofocus, and more importantly in how I use autofocus. It's very rare I miss autofocus except in extreme low light or if people are constantly crossing in front of my subject. Those are the situations I've flip back to manual in, but 95% of my event work and even typical corporate work is in Autofocus on my FX3. If the FX6 ever becomes easier to get ahold of I'm sure I'll be picking one up...maybe in 2025? lol.

      @@DocBlob the a7siii is using the exact same sensor as the fx6. the fx6 is using the a7siii sensor.......if the fx6 can do it, I see no reason the a7siii couldn't

    Hey Philip! Love the review and thanks for doing all this research.
    Your insights to cameras have driven me to adjust settings and get each camera I ever use, to work at it's full potential.
    Got a question for you though... Will we ever see a C70 review? I already own one, but would love to see/hear your opinion on it, especially now when there is an internal raw update coming out soon.
    Either way, Love your work. A friend turned me on to your work some time ago, and it amazes me how much you have done and what you have done! Thanks for all you do!

      Thank you. No I don’t think so, I shot loads for one but I just didn’t really like it and much preferred my R5 that I used to film it. The R5c interests me though.

      @@philipbloom That is interesting to hear. I was close to purchasing an R5, but went with the A7sIII because I believe the video is just better on the Sony, and I wouldn't use a lot of the 8K or 4kHQ settings (plus the lowlight is still so much more useful). C70 just looks better for client work and has a film image that we use a lot.
      I am interested about the R5c. The company I work for is thinking about getting the R5c as well. It is the closets (if not is) hybrid photo and video camera out there.
      Appreciate the insights as always.

      @@wjohnson1186 the lack of IBIS sucks for photos though. A1 is the best hybrid camera out there.
