    Big thing most people don’t know about the FX9 and I’m my opinion the biggest plus when comparing it to the others, 4K in s35 mode. The FX6 and 3 don’t because it’s only a 4K Sensor. I can’t tell you how many times while on a shoot as an FX9 owner I switch back and 4th between FF and S35 modes. Almost every shoot. Also, lens capabilities. I shoot DZO lenses and I can use the zooms and still have 4K image. So many cine-zoom lenses are built for a S35 sensor, and the inability to shoot 4K with them on the FX6 or 3 is enough to not use them.

    As someone who uses an FX6/9 Daily, can't wait for the FX3 to arrive, honestly it's a pain to us an FX6 for run and gun situations, setting it up on a gimbal is a headache and a waste of a good part of an hour, the ND System it has is world class though and in more controlled shoots it's a beast honestly better than the FX9 even image wise up to 4k :) The FX9 is an ENG class camera, the FX6 is more in-between Documentary, Short Films, Low Budget Tv series', run and gun video, while the FX3 is mainly a run and gun video with the option to build it up similar to the FX6 or strip it down and be light, easy to swap between tripod,gimbal, or handheld, unless you can keep an FX3 on a Gimbal, an FX6 for handheld and an FX9 on tripod haha

    I didn’t know the FX9 could do 4K S35 and the FX6 was limited to HD in S35 until I read the comments in this video. The FX9 opens up significant lens options. I don’t think I’ve seen a bigger and more expensive camera that didn’t offer more functionality. With the exception of doing gimbal and handheld work, I prefer larger cameras. Only RED it seems offers complete features in a smaller package. I’m mostly brand agnostic. I’m interested in the camera that gets the job done efficiently without creating production or post production headaches. Ultimately, with the exception of filmmakers and cinematographers, the audience doesn’t know and doesn’t care what camera was used to shoot a project. When you buy a donut do you wonder what brand of fryer they used? Me neither. Just give me the donut. 👍

      The FX6 is better than the A7sIII in low light because you can turn off internal noise reduction and do it in post. This results in a much sharper image. Philip Bloom pointed this out in his initial FX6 review.

    Variable frame rates? I've just learned the idea is good for "cinematic" stunt shots. A7SIII has photo auto time-lapse, how about auto focus bracket. Also a 1/2 transparent image overlay would help with "then and now" kind of scenes. A button to change ISO for walking from light to dark. Better quality XLR adapter (no one wants to talk about in-camera sound)

    Couple other things worth mentioning:
    1. FX6 isn't supported by DJI RS2/3 and will probably never be at this point. No rec control, no iris, nothing. FX3 works just fine.
    2. It is much easier and cheaper to get 4 channels of audio into FX3 because it has 3.5mm jack which FX6 does not for no apparent reason. So you can run 2 shotgun mics + a Rode WGII into FX3 but not into FX6.
    All this makes FX3 practically a must buy b-cam for an FX6 . And they work exceptionally well together. FX3 in a permanent gimbal setup and FX6 in handheld/tripod config is a killer combo that saves tons of time both on the set and in post.

    • @walmartpimp2

    • @shagral_
      @shagral_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@walmartpimp2 to get HDR you have to master and deliver for HDR (that means Rec2020 color space and correct metadata for Dolby Vision or HDR10 spec).
      Of course SLOG3 is HDR-capable. It has up to 14 stops of DR. Look at this th-cam.com/video/Ge-6hiNnVyw/w-d-xo.html This is SLOG3 mastered for HDR. If you don't see HDR icon, your browser/display isn't supported

    the difference between the FX6 and an FX3/FX30 while the FX6 "looking" more professional at a shoot can be subjective. Ive rigged out my FX30 so much, it looks bigger than an FX6 and clients have seen me pull it out of my pelican box and go "wowwwww look at that camera!!!!".....when its the FX30 lol its just how I have it rigged out that makes it "look" like that. Fx3..i shoot with my Sony a7iv right now.. The chances of getting on Netflix is pretty much zero anyway unless you have a lawyer or representative to get you in front of the executives... And If you are going to do a Netflix show they pretty much have their own production and cameras anyways.. at the beginning it was a little easier for Netflix but it's basically become another studio and a pipe dream for most.. I worked on a Netflix show and I talked to the producer.. he said pretty much there's almost zero chance unless you have to representative or lawyer.. Impressive review. But CFexpress type B has like more than double read/write speeds of the new, tiny CFexpress type A if you check the market, and probably cheaper overall. But CFexpress type A right now is using PCIe 3.0 which becoming ancient now and maybe going to 5.0 now or at least PCIe 4.0 would make it 2-4x faster so it might be the smarter form factor in the long run.

      FX9 cards are XQD not CFexpress Type B. Yes they use the same connector and form factor, but the FX9 doesn’t support Type B and XQD has limited speed in comparison to Type B, so the point I was trying to make still stands. Thanks for watching Jake

    I’ve owned an FX3 for a year and have shot a ton on it i.e. short films, music videos, and commercial work. My biggest and probably only gripe about it is that it doesn’t have internal ND. Not sure why everyone constantly complains about shutter angle, just learn the conversions from shutter speed and it’s essentially the same thing. Cheers!

    You seem to be missing the obvious. If you’re out in super bright sunlight, or shooting something crazy, you’re gonna need a cage and a monitor for the FX 3… While the a7S3, You just put that incredible EVF to your eye and you can see in the brightest sunlight or any other difficult situation. If you’re 20 years old and have 2020 vision, I guess the back of the FX3 would be doable… But the LCD monitor sucks. So, by the time you buy a cage and a decent monitor and a hood shade… What’s the price of the FX3 again?
