When I lived in a small place, having a garden on the terrace was such a mood booster! And it was a joy to just go out there and prune, trim dead leaves, water, and just look at everything. I ended up with shelves and plants vertically all around! Like a private secret garden. It gave lots of privacy as well. Enjoy it!
The fact you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and practice is worth the journey. Don’t forget to feed um too 😜 turn the lid upside down as a dish to catch the water 😜
I like that idea using the tub, especially putting the lid underneath. I was thinking that when you watered them the dirt would be all over the balcony, but the lid will solve that. Great idea!!

That a girl I’m so happy you’re starting a little garden. Roma tomatoes are good for making tomato sauce. Chives, lemon Thyme, rosemary and oregano are perennial herbs. They’ll grow thru the winter or grow back in the spring every year. Melons will grow if you have enough sun. Keep up the good work. 👨🍳🪴
Great video and always the best way to learn is to do it. The only thing I would say is about the lid under the tote, I would turn it the other way up to it acts to catch any water , the water will come out brown and over a period of time may stain the concrete of the balcony. One hint for you. The water you are using is clorinated. Put you water on the counter the day before and the clorination will off gas over night. You are doing great.
Hi, love the creative energy! I’m thinking you will want to put some type of drain pan under your plastic bin so that any excess water can evaporate? The water likely will drain out of the holes as muddy water. The muddy water will either stain the patio or run down off of your patio onto your neighbor’s patio. Or both.

We have Volunteer Oak and Poplar coming up in some soil in some soil we have in our Totes! Amazing what Birds will help us plant! Those soil bags are heavy!

The addition of some background music works well too - it's not intrusive nor distracting and helps keep the video flowing whilst you're not talking to camera and busy with doing things. FYI, As the plants, etc grows, you might get univited guests eating the "strawberries, etc", which means you might have to build some sort of protective housing on your garden to keep them out. :)
You’ve got the basics. Plant a lot. Kill a lot. Plants are great teachers for those who listen. You’ve got plenty of soil to start. More soil just means more time between watering.

Let me share and idea, that I did some times. While doing some hiking, when I find a plant that I like (a small one), I carefully take it and bring it home. I have a pot garden in my terrace with those plants. When taking care of them, they remind me of the places where I took them from. It is nice! So, I would suggest you to do some hiking, instead of Home Depot, yeah!
You did good, kiddo. You can turn it into or out of full sun easily, according to your preference, at that time of day😊 We could see it hitting in a line over the edge of the roofline.👍😉
Just have fun with it! I grow in containers. I don't have enough level land for a proper garden. Remember, don't consider it a failure if something doesn't work out for you. It's just a prototype.😄

Good job. I would put the strawberries in a bigger pot eventually and they are sure to flourish. They should over-winter too. We have loads in the garden in Devon England and they spread further each year.
Have you thought about lifting weights? I found that lifting helps me quite a bit with life's troubles. It takes me about 5-10 minutes per session to get into it. Those minutes are difficult. But then... my spirit starts to soar. Same thing happens when I read a great novel. The first few minutes and even deciding to read is difficult. But then, an hour later, I am glad I did. I love pepperoni pizza and bacon cheddar cheeseburgers.

You can use a lighter or your stove.. to heat up the phillips tip of the screwdriver..and use that to melt holes..
I have two tomato plants in pots, and a flower garden, & a raspberry plant, so far.
Let me share and idea, that I did some times. While doing some hiking, when I find a plant that I like (a small one), I carefully take it and bring it home.
