    • @MatthewHeiskell

      Those are good choices. You should also get the Spektrum USB dongle too and Real Flight simulator so that you can practice. Flying RC is fun and rewarding, but it is difficult to learn. The first crashes usually make people want to stop. Make your first 1,000 crashes happen on a simulator.

    • @MatthewHeiskell
      @MatthewHeiskell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good question! I’m not sure of the answer, but I think that the virtual fence capable receiver is a full blown flight controller. Adding a GPS to a normal telemetry receiver might be able to warn you when you’ve gone a certain distance, but I think it would need to be a flight controller to fly the plane homeward for you. Good question! You should be fine if you correct mount the two long antennas. They need to be far away from each other and the short active part at the end need to be 90 degrees from the other one. Basically, point one nose to tail, and point the other one wing tip to wing tip. You can examine the number of dropped frames after a flight. If the number is high, adjust the antennas or add a satellite receiver.

      The simplest and cheapest solution is to use the telemetry receiver only, but you have to connect those two voltage sensing wires to the battery. I discovered the cable as well. I now only need to add a balance lead connector and I am set. I tested it by taking the wires and simply inserting them into the battery balance lead and it worked great. However, I want something more permanent by attaching a connector. thanks for the great advice.

      That would be a great plane for the vario! You can turn the rising/falling tones on and adjust the volume. I bet you can turn it on/off with a switch in the custom voice setup menu.

    I have the E-Flite BNF RV-7 and Turbo Timber 1.5m evolution can I get altitude from the recievers with my NX8 radio or to I need to add a telemetry altitude sensor?

    • @MatthewHeiskell
      @MatthewHeiskell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be able to get altitude from those receivers. After you bind, and the control surfaces are responding, go to the telemetry page and select AUTO and it should populate.

    Hi!
    very informative video.
    Happened to land on this channel as I am trying to learn if the AM8020T receiver can be used with Radiomaster TX16S which supports DSMX protocol?
    And if the telemetry features or at least the battery voltage telemetry could be used?
    This is to be used on a TREX 500XT helicopter with a BD AXON FBL system.
    Great if I could have your opinion.

      Hello Vitor, that's a reallly nice helicopter. Are you sure that you want to fly with Spektrum? Why not FRSky or TBS Crossfire? The BD AXON FBL takes SBUS as input, right? You just really want voltage telemetry?

    • @vaamorais
      @vaamorais 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MatthewHeiskell Hi, thanks for coming back. Does not have to be Spectrum, It may be any system that works with Radiomaster and is adequate for that size of Heli. Both your suggestions are good, thanks. I never though about crossfire as I had it as very long range system, and rather expensive. But after reading your comment, I did some research and it might be a good contender. Thanks

    Hi, anyone know what’s the maximum voltage you can put in to the 2 pin “VOLT” port, I wish to run a 6 cell battery?

    • @MatthewHeiskell
      @MatthewHeiskell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can handle 6S. I have one on my 3m Fox glider. I think the max is 30V.
