With my tractor I was having similar issues. I installed a fuel shut off valve. When I get done using it I shut off the fuel and let it run the gas out of the carb before I turn off the key. With no gas in the carb to go bad and plug up passages, the running issues cleared up.
I also put Berryman's in the gas to help keep the internals of the carb clean. I mix it in the 5 gallon can I haul the gas in. When it starts at ting up, I mix it up with a double dose of the Berryman's, this cleans the crud out pretty good.

Recently, believe it or not, I tore down the engine to replace the broken cam. Put it all back together and it runs like a Singer sewing machine again. My weed eater has a finicky carburetor. I change that almost every year or every two years! They sell those carburetors cheap. It's a super cheap, easy fix! It's a good idea is to shut off your gas if you can, and run your carburetor completely out of gas before you store it for the winter! Especially, if you're using gas with ethanol in it. The ethanol will get all gummy if it sits in the carburetor for long periods of time!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲

I agree with just replacing the carb on lawn mowers but:
The Chinese crap carbs only work on 4 stroke engines. Don't buy an el cheapo chinese carb for your chainsaw or 2 stroke weed wacker. For 2 strokes, you need to use the OEM carb.
