    David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer, Numbers) joins us this week to candidly share his experience overcoming thyroid cancer, the difficulties surrounding this disease while working in Hollywood, and how it was preceded by a nine month panic attack. Later, David talks about the validation he received from Christopher Nolan after landing a prominent role in Oppenheimer, his humbling first day on set, and a crazy story of how auditioning for this part evidently led to him becoming sober. We also talk The Santa Clause, pivoting on Numbers, and a horror story of a honeymoon.

    I loved Numb3rs, watched it a lot as a teen. Still rewatching the series every couple years :)

    Love that Krumholtz shared this horrendous experience. So many people think they're the only ones going through a crisis, when everyone has bad times and occasionally there's an actual physical reason for it, e.g. chemical imbalance due to thyroid problems.

    I was very pleasantly surprised to see him in Oppenheimer, and Christopher Nolan knows how to utilize his actors very well. I’m very glad to see David Krumholtz doing better and he certainly deserves much more recognition and especially getting healthier. He’s been through the hurricane and he’s making his way back.

    I too have severe Anxiety and depression due to adrenal and hypothalamic dysfunction and it really can be bad. There were points where I would just freak out and fall apart out of nowhere and it would feel like my own internal dialogue was shouting at me inside my head and it was terrifying and all of the symptoms were extremely intense because my hormonal equilibrium was completely thrown off. I’m glad he got the help he needed

    Sounds like he had a lot to deal with but his relationship helped to get him on track which is a sign he is with the right person😊

    Numb3rs' ending was criminally mishandled. It reminds me of Fringe. great show, great characters, great show fantasy, but then ended too soon and unsatisfying ending.

    I’m glad you bounced back. I watched the show from store-bought DVD’s after it ended. Wonderful show. The brothers theme really hit it out of the park for me. Similar to the unlikely friendship between Clark and Lex in Smallville.

    THYROID! Oh man! My thyroid wasn't the size and shape it should've been, but over my lifetime, grew to the size of my hand, nestling under my right clavicle. Within hours of that monster mofo being removed, I could 'feel' that little part of me in my head (which had caused so much anguish and fear over the years) GONE. Turned off, so to speak.
    I've tried to get people interested in the possible correlation between thyroid disorders and what's commonly treated as mental health disorders, but to no avail - so David's (love your work, sir!) almost throwaway remark there rang all kinds of bells with me..! Still... all water under the bridge now.

      i can believe it though it's not the same thing i'm just using this as an example i have a really hard time getting motivated and i'v always been called lazy yet everyone in my family never believes me so i can see nobody believing you them thinking oh gee it's just .... again and nobody believed you i can so see that i know what i used is not the same thing at all but it is maddening that happens. either way man i'm glad you are doing much better

    • @EphemeralProductions
      @EphemeralProductions 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is a huge generalization. They’re people like everyone else. Not all of them are “hollyweird “ types. Some of them like this guy are actually down to earth. And I’m sure you’ve had your out of touch with reality moments. So keep the finger pointing at yourself instead of others.

      You have no idea what are you talking about. Being an actor has many downsides one of which you constantly keep losing your job and friends you hanged out. Imagine you having a great job and great people there you get along, its your whole purpose of existence and then its gone. Kit Harrington went through the same thing with GoT as did many others in that show. I think its mostly the younger actors who never experienced those ending and transitions before that get blindsided by this.

    • @ponchoedderds9598
      @ponchoedderds9598 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, but he was splitting adjacent in Oppenheimer. The breakdown sounds legit to me. When you're doing something for a long time, it ends, then you lose your sense of self, that is classically how it starts.
