    they should make a little plug on their motherboard, that you can plug the usb from the cooler pump into, and use it for both diagnostics (like a motherboard error readout) and of course, the info it's capable of displaying now. That would be cool. (And useful) most motherboards dont have a proper error code readout these days, on the motherboard.

    • @Voltaic_Fire
      @Voltaic_Fire ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are so right! We are lucky to get a blinking light pattern these days, nevermind a proper error code readout. It would be great if these little screens could give out detailed error reports in addition to all the flashy stuff they do now. A friend of mine recently had to send his PC off for repairs because he had no error code to search online, he has been unable to work his side job for 2 weeks and counting all because motherboard manufacturers are being lazy and/or greedy.

    Looks a lot like my Kraken Z3 which has a full large circle display etc, The one thin USB cable and fan harnes was never an issue for me. What's nice is HWInfo picks up the Kraken Pump Fan Speed, and Liquid Temp So I am building a Rainmeter / HWinfo based info panel with my Kraken info showing. Yes there were white Kraken.
    I key the pump speed off CPU temp so it ramps up quickly. The radiator Fan I key off the liquid temp. I would probably get an adapter and use an MSI controller or generic ARGB hub for fans.
    The problem is that only RGBSignal can run well with CAM running when trying to get 2+ ARGB systems to talk. Too often too many apps on the SMBus? caused Vengence Pro Ram RGB to lock. I only run it to rotate images on Pump screen and make sure my cooling profile is running. What I would want to ever buy another AIO with a screen is OLED, because the LCD is on mine has poor blacks in my darker case lighting. Alot of the features you showed except for single cable have been in the Z73 and siblings for over a year and the updated sofware they just released gave me all new features. I have been very happy with mine for almost a year, and consider the screen AIO as my guiltly pleasure of the build.

      I agree. Im not sure why people are acting like these are revolutionary when the Elite is basically just a refresh of the regular Z series. A slightly higher res but still LCD screen and a single plug vs 2 (which was never a problem anyway) everything else is identical. Same asetek pump and radiator.
      The new kraken is nice for someone who wants a screen on a budget but its like a 1x1 square, no point in paying the NZXT tax when other brands have had similar screens for years at this point.
      The elite is the best option but its the same price or more than the original Z series.

      Why would you control your pump speed with CPU temp that constantly jumps all over the place? Flow rate generally has little impact on heat transfer efficiency (outside of extremes) and if the flow rate is in the linear part of the efficiency curve, coolant temp will be the same (within 1 to 2C) everywhere in the loop. Having your pump constantly changing speed is also hard on the pump.

    This is pretty cool but the biggest complaints I've had with NZXT coolers. I had the X73 and now the Z73 LCD is that 1. Cam is awful, end of story. and 2. These coolers have no memory. What that means is if I put a graphic of spongebob putting a fire out and then I restart my PC, that graphic will no longer be there unless I start cam, and I don't want cam to auto start on my PC.
    On the Corsair line of AIO coolers, they do have memory so when you restart your PC, that graphic will still be there without the need to start iCUE. I'm not positive if this new line from NZXT has it, you may have mentioned it in this video and I missed it but if they don't, that's a huge let down and not even worth an upgrade.
    I'm probably switching to a Corsair AIO soon just because I want to have one ecosystem, that's assuming Corsair can come out with daisy chained fans, waiting on Corsair or NZXT whoever does it first.

    • @th0m

      YMMV but i found the corsair elite capellix (coolit) units a bit more overcomplicated and failure prone than the asetek nzxt coolers. I havent found a way to pwm mod the corsair units yet, but the nzxt ones are wicked simple.
      The kraken z pump head pbcs are freaking packed though. Still trying to find a workaround for exactly the lack of memory behavior you mentioned. I refuse to run icue or cam-both have felt more buggy and bloaty than necessary to me.

      @@th0m If you feel like it, please let me know I'd love a way to do that.
      I agree I hate having anything autostart on my PC if I don't need it, don't want 80 different RGB software on boot for no reason. I will say though as you said, I've had no issues with my Z73, however the X72 I had previous to this had many issues, none in the form of performance though, all RGB.
      Either way, I'm interested to see what Corsair can bring to the table, if it's bad then I'll stick with a Z73 or upgrade to the newer one.
      Did you happen to notice if this new NZXT one has memory? I didn't hear Jay say it so I'm rather disappointed...

    I find this really interesting, I would love to see the performance differences between the white and black models of the same model. There is a difference in the way heat is dissipated between white and black. Black being more efficient at removing heat in an intercooler (I believe, its been a while), interesting to see if thanslates into these small radiator units used in PC watercooling.

    • @haha-be6xl
      @haha-be6xl ปีที่แล้ว

      black does absorb a bit more heat from rgb lights but this effect is probably so small that the slightest variation in other conditions (like room temperature) would make it insignificant (thus very hard to test and has little meaning).

    • @BaxterZone
      @BaxterZone ปีที่แล้ว

      @@haha-be6xl thank you, so, I never considered LEDs as a heat source, and correct, I don’t think this could even be measurable. I am referring to the heat absorption, radiation and reflection properties between the 2 colours. I have seen some ‘tests’ done with air to air heat exchangers where the same intercooler in black performs measurably better than it does in white. This being due to what I believe is the natural propensity for black to radiate heat energy more easily than white. White reflects heat energy really well, but doesn’t radiate it as well as black does. I was wondering if the same behaviour here is measurable, and if so, how much of a difference there is ‘in the real world’.

    My first Kraken X62 broke after about 5 years. Pump died and took a while to get them to let me send it in for their 6 year warranty. They sent me a new one because the pump did in fact die. Well then just over 5 years later the replacement Kraken X62 pump and fans died. I was doing a virus scan and the fans sped up and then just stopped (I could hear them) it had me worried so I stopped the scan and restarted the computer only to be met with CPU cooling fans malfunctioned or something like that error in the bios. I went to the desktop and CAM opened up and saw my CPU getting hotter. The Kraken was turning red (color scheme for temp) so I quickly shut off my computer. I contacted NZXT again with the same problem as before and they claimed they wont do anything because I guess the warranty only covers the first one. But this is the second one that has died after 5 years (within the 6 year warranty window).
    So now I am looking at going to a different AIO since it's clear the NZXT Krakens pumps keep dying (a recurring problem I see in other reviews as well) and they only warranty it sometimes I guess?

When i upgraded to the I9 13900k i noticed the NZXT application was reading the E core Temps, not the P Core avg temp. or max temp. So in return HW monitor, and FPS monitor in game would read higher, aka the P core max temp and avg. Then my AIO and NZXT app would read a lot lower. For example when my cpu during gaming is 59 degrees C. NZXT would read 50 etc... This is not a huge deal and doesnt bother me much. But is this something that happens with the 13th gen CPU's? or do i need to change some setting i am not finding? Wasnt a factor when i had my 5900X. If you have input on this, that would be great!
