As amazing at this performance is really make it that much crazier how amazing hicham was. The mile world record in my opinion is one of the greatest feats in all of track and field.
I think I agree. His 1500 record is good, but the mile record is probably better. No one has been close after his time.
He was definitely doping. Cheating was rampant back then and testing wasn’t as prominent
I complete agree. EL G’s record is on a different level and I don’t think it will be broken anytime soon. Despite how good Jakob is I just don’t think he will get the WR. Even though I don’t want to bring it up, I agree with the above posters comment. Doping was Rampant back in the days along with low testing rates. Just a speculation and my opinion. However that being said EL G WILL ALWAYS be the G.O.A.T.

If you take his personal best of 3.28 in the 1500m that would translate to a 3.40-3.41 mile

@@carternorsym9362 no it doesn’t. you think he’s running the last 109 meters in 12-13 seconds? No way lol His 3:28 1500m is on pace for a 3:43 mile but your mile time slows marginally since it is a longer race so his 3:28 1500 converts to a 3:44-3:45 mile
