Hey this is a great video but i have a question. I have a 1981 yamaha xj 650 and i tore all the carbs apart and cleaned them all. The bike will not start with out starting fluid or spraying gas but when it runs i can give it throttle to keep it running but it wont idle. I turn it off and it wont start again until i give it a spray of starting fluid. It is also running very lean. Do you know why this is happening?
Have you adjusted the choke at all? Mine with a bad diaphragm and dirty carbs has a really hard time maintaining idle. Sometimes wont start right away until I adjust the choke. Once it's running it's ok except at idle I need to constantly adjust the choke to keep it running. Cleaning my carbs & replacing the diaphragms should do it, just waiting on them to get here.
There is actually a third jet that is built into the carb bowl itself. It is a size 40 and provides fuel to the starting enrichment circuit.if it is clogged starts will be difficult.
Hello, another great video!. I have another question about my 1994 Kawasaki bayou klf300b that im working on. Ive been working on the electrical system trying to find out why the starter isnt getting full power when starting. I think a wire is grounding out. But my main question is i took the starter solenoid off to test awhile ago and now i forgot which way it goes back in rubber boot holder. Does it go in with the wire plug in towards the back of the bike or the front. I could have it backwards. I dont have a shop manual yet. Im ordering one. I cant believe i made this mistake of forgetting which it is mounted. Thanks! Hope to see more great videos
