  • The Cheetah at Wild Adventures has been retired by Herschend Family Entertainment. What will exactly happen to the ride is unclear at the moment. But the future looks grim for this CCI built in 2001.

    The other problem with the cheetah was they where losing control of how fast it was going. I don’t know if this was due to maintenance issues or age.

      If it was going to fast, they could have added trims, if it was going to slow, they could've added weights to the trains. It had Gerstlauer trains, which are some of lightest wood coaster trains, maybe even lighter than Morgans.

    Oh nooo!!! This was my favorite ride since day one! I know now they won't be getting my money there.
    They can donate it to me and I'll let people ride it for free lol

    The Cheetah got beat to heck over the years, but that's what made it great. Bumpy, a bit jarring, but it was allot of fun!

    A wooden coaster with a steel structure (like Cheetah) is quite robust and relatively inexpensive to maintain. Traditional wooden coasters with structural wood are a maintenance nightmare, but this particular design was installed at Wild Adventures originally because of its low maintenance costs. Herschend is running this park into the ground -- way too much cost cutting.

      With the park's main attraction gone, crowds are going to dwindle rapidly.

      They CAN make it better by giving it brand new wooden track. Then it would be very smooth.

      If the park would completely replace its track with brand new wooden track, then it would not feel like 1000 pot holes. This is what Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA did to their CCI, GhostRider. Smooth as silk.

    • @MATTHEW3438
      @MATTHEW3438  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wood coasters are safe if maintained properly and inspected every day. Wood coasters are the reason that steel coasters like Twisted Typhoon exist. They need to be respected.

      @@MATTHEW3438 but what if it rains? It doesnt weaken the wood? I always walked passed it. Was just too high up for me to be a wooden coaster and how it was off by itself like that in my opinion

    • @mattyj7469
      @mattyj7469 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@clarissabanks3277 Its treated lumber. That protects it from decay and rotting. The wood would need to be replaced eventually though.

    • @garrettbrooks6576
      @garrettbrooks6576 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wooden coasters are actually more safer than steel coasters. It's because of all the supports and trusses that connect and broaden out. They also absorb the trains energy, rather that containing it all on the riders, thats why they sway slightly. Plus, Cheetah had a steel structure, only part that was wood was the track and catwalks. Also, if there is weakened wood, they replace and maintain it. It's very rare for incidents to happen on roller coasters, especially with their structure. Most incidents are related to the riders, and ride operators.
