Wild Adventures Retiring Cheetah | Is it Being Turned into an RMC Hybrid?

  • Cheetah is the lone custom coaster at Wild Adventures. This Custom Coasters International wood coaster was built in 2001, but it was closed in 2020 due to social distancing concerns. The thought was that the coaster would reopen in 2021, but those who have messaged the park have been told the ride will be retired to make way for future additions. Could that mean an RMC hybrid?

It would be insane if this ride gets RMC'ed and it would be a really exciting and big addition to the park.

Cheetah looked like a decent Woodie, but hopefully they should look into converting it into an RMC as it would draw massive crowds into the park

Cheetah is one of my favorites. Will definitely be missed by me, and it was definitely a rough ride. I’m just glad my last ride on it was probably my favorite ride on the coaster, sitting next to my girlfriend, night ride in the back row and it was hauling. Rip Cheetah.

I really enjoy Cheetah, but this is an interesting theory. Great video! Subbed.

Woodies just keep disappearing man 😔 Hopefully RMC can give it a new life!

I wish Herrschend would actually take care of this park like they do their other parks. It's clear they don't really care about this coaster, and could be so much better. Possibly RMC have given them a discount for a new coaster due to the LRod issues, so maybe it will be RMC'd?

Cheetah was literally jackhammer the ride. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t think great American scream machine is that rough and is honestly my 3 favorite coaster in Georgia. Cheetah had some great airtime and laterals but man! Those helixes jack hammered the whole time. I liked the ride but even I gotta say that thing was rough. The slc next door also isn’t that bad at all. It was the old restraints but their nicely cushioned. Honestly if your driving from sfog to Orlando/Tampa, wild adventure is definitely worth stopping by. The people there are super friendly. I even had guest randomly wave and say hi to me. The rides never really stood out other than cheetah but it’s a nice park and worth the 6 credits. I would stay away from the animals cause they clearly aren’t treated as well as the animals at a sea world park.

This ride was pretty rough. Literally every coaster at Wild Adventures was rough when I visited. Would love an RMC, but given that it's the red-headed step-child of the chain, I'm skeptical of that

the herschend family is now under my microscope. i love CCIs and i really hope they don’t demolish it completely. Cheetah was the best ride in the park and not a bad CCI at all. could be a really good RMC, but probably a mediocre gci retrack.

Wow one of my favorite channels talking about my home town park I remember cheetah opening and it being smooth as glass it got so rough over the years thou that you almost needed a mouth guard to protect you teeth so I'm all for anything better but there SLC is smoother than all the others I have ridden

The layout for this looked really good especially those speed hills in the middle of the ride. Will be sad to see it go because I never got to ride it but if this gets RMCed it will most likely draw a lot of crowds into the park

I had been too scared to ride rollercoasters up until a few years ago, and the Cheetah was one of my first rides. Ever since then it’s been one of my favorite rides in the park, and since I live under 20 minutes from the park I got to ride it pretty often. My favorite part about it has always been the roughness of it and watching my friends reactions to it the first time they rode it. I’m gonna miss this ride and I hope that they’ll redo it instead of putting a completely different ride there.

I planned a week and a half multi park vacation last year with WA being in the mix. But when I learned Cheetah was closed, I planned on skipping the park and adding a day at another park. I would just go back another time and ride it.

I had no idea that it didn't run in 2020. That covid excuse is most likely not true. I was there in March 2019. There's no doubt that it was a rough ride, but despite that, it was my favorite in the park, even over the glossy smooth Twisted Typhoon, my favorite SLC. The Vekomas at this park surprisingly ran amazing! But the rough Cheetah was still my favorite, because the airtime was that good. I talked plenty with one of the ride ops, who praised how smooth Vekomas are, obviously basing that on his own park. I mentioned to him that if GCI could smooth out Cheetah, it would be so amazing. He then told me that they had been in talks with GCI about that. But, if it were just getting a GhostRider treatment, I don't think they would be saying it's being retired. Obviously, I would love it to be an RMC.

They turned it into an animal viewing/dining area. The exciting new changes aren't that exciting but it's a nice family area now. They boarded over the area where you entered onto the coaster and placed the carts on top where the tracks used to be to leave a piece of history of the coaster.

Bummer! I was hoping to visit Wild Adventures last year, but decided to hold off when I saw Cheetah was closed. I would love for it to be RMCed, but given how the park hasn't invested in a major attraction in a long time, and they haven't even filled Viking Voyage's spot, I'm kind of expecting demolition.

I’ve ridden this ride so many times when I lived in Valdosta. But it did beat the mess out of you. It’s sad to see it go but it really needs something. It wasn’t even fun anymore.
