2 Days in India's Holy (and most intense) City - VARANASI

- We spent two days in India's holy city Varanasi, city of Lord Shiva. We were nervous to visit this place and it's quite intense, especially due to its burning ghats, where people are openly cremated due to the hindu belief of breaking the cycle of reincarnation if your ashes are then spread in the holy Ganges river.
We saw a lot - cows, traffic, bodies burning, snakes, owls, dead cows in the water, but also got to experience the vibrancy and spirituality that makes Varanasi a very special place that we feel privileged to have experienced. Definitely read up on it and take the time to learn about the place, and immerse yourself in it - you'll have fun and learn a lot, but be prepared that it's no luxury ride, but an authentic, unique experience.
We hope you enjoyed this vlog, part 3 of our India travel series is coming soon!

We were nervous and on the fence about whether we should go to Varanasi because of all the mixed stories we've heard, but we had a great time and learned a lot! Part 3 of our India travel series coming soon!
I think you're mistaken, there are a lot of luxury hotels in Varanasi.
I can count at least 6 hotels with a 5 star rating including Radisson blu and the Taj hotels (an indian favourite). You can also book a room in the former house of the Maharaja run by the Taj hotel group or if you want great views of the river I will recommend Brijrama palace.
Its a very tourist friendly city and you find all sorts of accommodation in the city ranging from 10 dollars to 500 dollars a night
next time stay in Golden lodge ...varanasi ..good place
Varanasi was the holy place, but it's now a hell on earth due to bad pollution, which is harmful for life.
Being a Sanatani, I have not wanted to go there, but I will go there where the river Ganga originates, like in Uttarakhand.
Your video quality is so good
Tu très sympa très
I often feel Indian travels are wrongly portrayed or sometimes, exaggerated. We went to Varnasi too! Literally, had no issues with safety. Yes, it might be unsafe at times. But, we saw more harassment in Egypt and Turkey than we did in India. Also, we had those intense stares from people but, I think that was universal across all Indians. Not just men. But, yeah a lot of dogs and cows on the roads too haha
I hope you felt nice in India, keep visiting 💕
Love you from India 😘😘
They want to portray us as evil and pagan but they don't want people to know our civilization is the oldest surviving civilization. Also we haven't countered their narrative because we're busy in our spirituality. I know some people in India are bad but we will educate them as well.
Maybe some % of the teachings are spiritual, but that does not make the modern country is spiritual.
Just looking around the country strikes you as more anti-spiritual setting than not.
People outside india are well educated whereas in this place people are nice and helpful but I am not sure about scams... its not a safety issues but scam are normal there. because the place has very low literacy rate in india.
I love Varanasi. I’ve been there twice and am making plans for a third visit. I don’t think a visit to India is complete without a visit here. It is pure magic
Hey
I went to India after trekking in Nepal. I have to agree that Indian cities are extremely busy and noisy, as was Kathmandu, but also fascinating. The people were warm and friendly. My partner and I never felt unsafe. It's quite the experience!
You should have visited kerela, north east, ladakh, Himachal, Uttrakhand. It's less busy
Busy bcz we r 1.4 billion
Namstey and thanks for your love to India'
Thank you so much for your fair openion.....but you should visit southern India and Himalayas......your most welcome in my peace full country and we will try my best,🙏
You have to be careful wherever you go. Western women in particular should dress more modestly when in India.
If you travel through India on a low budbet level, eat where the everyday poeple eat, sleep in budget hotels , enjoy the India traffic , travel by train and bus with the everyday people "India" becomes adictive for some people , including ME! Otherwise you miss the real sensation of India: The Indian people! They are friendly, warm, hospital and in total the nicest people I've ever met in Asia. I was there five times and I prepare for my 6th tour now.
I LOVE INDIA, namaste from Germany

Ich liebe Deutschland . Herzlich Wilkommen in Indien
@@dupeit007 Ich mag Deutschland nicht besonders. Wer Deutschland kennt kann dieses dumme Land nicht leiden. War übrigens sehr schön diese 6 Monate in Indien und Sri Lanka. Namaskar
India is incredible !! Everything one can't explain but experience only, when he or she is here !!
Varanasi ( also called as "Kashi" ) is actually more than 5000 years old city !! This is world's oldest living City , a heritage site indeed !!
It has also very relevant place in Hinduism and one of the most sacred city for Hindus !!
Jai Hind ! Jai Bharat ! 🇮🇳
Varanasi is cradle of human evolution. I love this ancient city ♥️
Ancient city which is now dirty and polluted
human evolution 😅
@@nikhilPUD01 naah it was dirty. They are cleaning it. But the way they polluted it, is not easy to recover
@@KING-ni4ze hindus worship nature and in same nature hindus throws plastics. Thats suns up how much hindus are well aware of their religion and culture

You can’t really call it that as the city has not evolved
My wife and me just finished a 4 day trip to Varanasi . Stayed at Hilton in Pandeypur - Fab Hotel, Took a rickshaw everyday to the Ghats and walked around the streets and the temples . So Colourful , Very vibrant and noisy .the place needs to be experienced to understand the feeling . There is an element of safety that you would compromise if you chose to stay in a unknown place but you cannot go wrong if its the Taj or the Hilton and take informed decisions in going around and not be too adventurous . Dont miss Sarnath too !
Beautiful video! The cinematography, drama , and music are so very well done. Parts of your trip are a little unnerving, however you are taking us on a fantastic journey and I am really enjoying it

best part 16:01 😂

So glad to hear that you guys came to India...I'm from India but I didn't visit varanasi though...
But after completion of my engineering I will...

Loved it, brought back so many memories of my India trip
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.... How they saw and their video about Varanasi is reflection of their own soul 🙂
Very truely said, i felt like these ladies had a lot of attitude whereas in their own country they are not well off and stay like beggars. They were most of the times complaining and i did not like the sarcastic expressions of Alexis and the vibes were bad..
Most of the times it depends on the people you interact with when you're visiting a new country and i can see you guys had mixed experiences (some good and some a bit 😬). I'm Indian and I'm specifically from Varanasi and i would not recommend the hostels/hotels near ghats specifically. You can have much better experience if you book a place a bit far, you would have to travel more but it's worth it and always read the reviews and pictures uploaded by people who stayed there. Varanasi is famous for its streets/allys so you will come across many of them. I'm glad you guys being an LGBTQ+ visited India despite of the not so positive image portrayed online. Also Indians are one of the most curious people so you'll get those stares, random people approaching you asking questions, asking for selfies etc. everywhere in India. I hope at the end of the day you guys enjoyed your stay and if possible come back during festival season.
best Part of the Video 16:00
We indians will never accept lgbt people
Yes, but probably they cannot afford those good places..

India is a country where you witness or experience the core human life in many different ways.

Varanasi has different vibes which makes you feel life is so colorful, hectic but at the end its temporary.
I always wanted to visit Varanasi, but couldn't do it. Today I deleted it from my bucket list. Because saw it through you both. I really appreciate your portrayal of the city. No negativity.
If u ll go for the cheapest hotels, cheapest vehicles and places where we Indians don't even go ...u ll face problems ..get knowledge of the place ..get good hotels there r alot good ones, book Uber or etc eat from popular good hygienic places and enjoy ....

it was beautiful place but now its hell on earth with all garbage and polluted air and water.
har har mahadev ❤️ amazing vlog lots of love to both of you and make sure next time you will come to see nainital
Sadly Nainital doesn’t have much to offer to foreign tourist.. plus all the illegal construction, overcrowding, filth, the blaring loudspeakers most days in town has ruined the charm of Naini even for Indian tourists. That said I love the town , it’s home but it now looks like any other generic North Indian city

"THIS IS NOT REAL INDIA" The problem is this only... People come here and don't want to spend money and expect luxury in cheapest things and then give out message that India is cheap!!!
Ok well I have watched videos on every major city in India and it's all cheap and Dirty.
Where is the place you call real India, this clean luxurious paradise.
Filming must be illegal in the real India because I have never seen a clean place, not once.

❤❤ Marvellous tour of Lord Shiva Nagri Varanasi ❤❤,
You chose the hotel at your own free will so don't complain about the location or the state of the hotel not being luxurious. I stayed at a 5 star hotel and it was luxurious. That's because I chose the hotel.
The streets in varanasi are too compact from the past some hundreds of years, but they havent always been so, there are small temples inside some of the houses, and houses were made closer to each other to slow down the muslim army from reaching the main temple and destroying it, which they eventually did, earlier it was a really beautiful city, efforts are on to revive that
Loved it! So funny and artsy. :)

I went to banaras this maha Shivratri it was my first time and I found a hotel near ghat 😀 and I just fell in love with ghat the city is Chaotic but also calm???? IDK how to explain it ......... For foreigners it might be overwhelming
Chaos is there... But the major problem there is pollution of the water and air quality, which are both bad... Also people there do scams, even in such holy places... It's obvious there are problems in Varanasi and foreigners will have a bad impression of it.. And they are honest about it.
Being an Indian and Sanatani... This place is completely opposite to the holy site for Hindus with its current condition for me.🥲
@@nikhilPUD01 i loved it ........... Maybe I am Indian so I didn't get scammed or anything ...... I stayed there for a week with my 1 Korean and 2 Aussie friends it was a really good first experience we will visit again in winters maybe
@@enlightenedtwisha If you are local... Then you can avoid scammers... But if an Indian from a different part of our country came there for the first time... Then they may get scammed... And by scam.. I mean people asking for money for small small things like for applying tikas, doing small poojas and charge money for keeping there Shoes... Money for freeing birds from cages and what not... 😆You have your perspective of this place... But the majority of foreigners have a bad impression of it. It's not about the people there... They are nice, friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and very much alive... But the condition of this place... I think you know what I mean.

Amidst the severe poverty, extreme filth, and pollution, there is indeed an underlying beauty in India. Even amongst all of that. Like Japan, Ive always felt drawn to India. There's just something about it Ive always been curious about. Fantastic video exploration, and wonderful opening footage. As a photographer, Im a huge sucker for cinematography, especially ones that play up foggy, smoggy backdrops.
Not "severe" property, mind your words
We are doing good, it's a country of billions of people
Varanasi is overpopulated as hell
That's the reason for the unplanned urbanisation which is older than history.
