    I started off feeling critical of your slow start, but after you got going, I felt I was hearing a perspective and important points that other reviewers hadn’t made me quite aware of. And of course, if you’re going against the grain of the general consensus - well, you must be sincere and serious about what you are saying! So keep going! 😊

      Hello, and thanks for sticking with it. I meander, but you can rest assured, if I turn on my camera, I got something to say. My unique perspective/opinions won't always be popular, but they'll always be genuine, honest, and full of passion for the topic (I don't know any other way). Appreciate you stopping by!

    Thanks for the comparison. I purchased the Note Air 3 and the Tab Mini and needed clarification about the differences and why I couldn't get widgets on my NA3. It doesn't make sense to have different operating systems. Boox seems to have many variations, and that, coupled with a very complicated and not-so-user-friendly system makes it a frustrating platform.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is true. Especially when one is clearly meant to be more functional. If you're going to have a less functional OS, it should at least be more user friendly. That's not the case here though. Super puzzling 🤔

      I would assume the reason why the Note OS is more limited is the whole "more writing focused, less distractions" approach. The Note devices try to be more like the reMarkable.

      Hello, and yes. The devices with the Tab OS have "Tab" in the name. Currently, there are only 4 devices with that. The Tab Mini C, The Tab Ultra, the Tab Ultra C Pro, and the Tab X. Hope this helps

    Boox should just give users the option to switch between the Note Air and Tab devices layouts. If you ever lay your hands on a Tab Ultra C with keyboard case, I’m sure you will love it. It’s the best Boox color device in terms of price and specs for productivity.

    • @rantsabouttechnology

      Hello. It's because of these differences I'm having a hard time picking between the Note Air 3C and now the Tab Ultra C Pro (cause everyone keeps mentioning it). The OS makes such a big difference in the experience. Maybe one day books will allow us to pick. Thanks for stopping by ✌🏾

      @@rantsabouttechnology Thanks for your reply and making the videos. I was referring to the Tab Ultra C (non Pro) as a ‘value for money’ productivity device. Unfortunately Boox decided to discontinue it when they launched the Pro, but still kept the b/w Tab Ultra. The Pro is simply too expensive, in my opinion.

    🙋‍♂Hi Rodrick! Surprise, surprise, the NA3C has no widgets. Also love the Supernote stylus. I don't care much what others may say about what you should or shouldn't do on a certain device. I can tell you I purchased a mat screen protector for my NA3C, so I don't have to worry about scratches on the original screen. Furthermore, I have found no issues with stylus response or legibility clarity. It all comes down to personal preference and to be honest both devices are great to me and have their uses either independently or being used together. Pick your poison and use it wisely. As always, kudos from NYC.🗽

    8:34 does the TMC calendar incorporate / sync with google calendar (or any other active online android compatible calendar)??
    What does the Calendar look like on the NA3C??
    Do they either or both support the various active online calendars available on Android?
    13:28 So if you're looking at a note when you turn the NA3C off, or if it times out, can you still see the note, or no???

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No Google Calendar sync functionality with the Boox devices. It's it's own thing. and no sort of active sync. It only syncs to Boox servers for back-up i think.
      The Calendar is pretty awesome in my opinion. I'll do a video showing this soon, but It just looks like a normal "planner"calendar. It's unique in that it has a Memo attached to it that allows you to view it on the homescreen via a widget. And you can also have it as a screen saver.
      And, yes you can view the last thing you had on your screen when the screen is timed out or put to sleep. Even when it's off you can set a specific screen saver to show. Because eInk displays only need power to refresh.
      Thanks for stopping by and for the comments. Appreciate the questions.

      @@rantsabouttechnology Might be a silly question, but, does the Mini C feel as "scratchy" or paperlike as the Note Air 3C? I really want that paper feel when writing. Even MY supernote doesn't feel like writing on paper

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, Not really. The Tab Mini C has a film over the screen but it's more for glare than anything else. But it does offer some friction for writing, IF you use a harder ceramic nib. Most other nibs make it feel slippery.
      I did a video detailing the different screen feels with different nibs and the Tab Mini C and Note Air 3C are in that test: th-cam.com/video/7FQ1hQtZzJo/w-d-xo.html

    See, that's how different people are. ;-)
    My two teenage children each use a Tab Ultra C + original keyboard case at school (they were required something-tablet-y with camera, colour screen, handwriting input, and keyboard attached), but we all prefer the way things are laid out on my Note Air 3 C. My daughter even uses my 7.8" Nova Air 2 (same OS as the NA3C, but with a glossy screen like the tab series), just because the Tab OS we all find weird. We have not really a problem with it (it also works well on my daughter's Palma and my TabX, so no complaints), but the Widget screen is never used, and landing directly in either the library or the Notes app is something we all prefer.
    BTW: The readers by Boox employ the same FW minus the Notes app. I like that on my Poke5 I also could set up the library = NeoReader app as a home/landing screen.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I should be picking your brain on these things, as you seem to have waaay more experience with Boox devices. Its so cool seeing someone that's all in with the Boox platform. I have so many questions, lol. I'm glad you answered a question that I've had about the Nova Air 2 for weeks now... so it has the Tab-type screen, and not a Note-type screen. I almost bought it just to see cause there's no definitive answer, that I found, online. Thanks!
      I wish I had any one of these devices while I was in college struggling with the Newton. Makes me feel good knowing that there are kids growing up with this tech and making good use of it. That's awesome! So, the Tab ultra C, and the Tab ✗ (which I would love to try), could you explain their screen texture, to me? Thinking about getting the Tab Ultra C Pro, but the screen texture throws me off. I prefer the textured screens for writing, but the Tab Ultra C Pro is more powerful than the NA3C and it has the Tab OS I like. Such a hard decision.
      Thanks for sharing and stopping by. 🙂

    • @julieparadise9694
      @julieparadise9694 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rantsabouttechnology Just feel free to ask! ;-)
      Yes, the Nova Air 2, the Tab Ultra C (series) and the TabX share the same screen surface (quite glossy, but not glassy, it is still nice to write on them), but of course the matte/textured screen of the NA3C (that is quite comparable to the Kindle Scribe and the Remarkable, both are just a bit smoother) are nicer to write on.
      I think the differentiation is due to the Note series being dedicated/more geared toward writing and sacrifice a bit of the screen clarity due to the tiny little bubbly craters, although it is not that bad that you couldn't comfortably read anymore, while the Tab series devices have the glossier screen to have text appear sharper.
      Oh, and regarding the Supernote pen and its ceramic nib: Beware and have an eye on the screen foil. If you're not having a really light hand, you might damage your screen. (Says the nasty woman who uses a Staedtler Lumograph digital with a titanium nib on a Supernote A6X2 Nomad, which is also explicitly adviced against by Supernote.) The reasoning behind this is: The Supernote has a self-healing soft film applied, so the very hard ceramic nib (and, if you ask me: also the titanium nib, but maybe I'll come crying in a year or so) is cushioned and sinks into that soft surface without damaging something, while the other screens all have a hard screen = not giving in that require a soft nib to avoid damage. If you apply a hard nib on a hard screen, you are (potentially) scratching it.
      And, as to the kids: I am quite sure my children would have preferred getting an iPad each 😀, but once you see what a new-ish iPad with enough storage, a keyboard, and a pen costs ... the Tab Ultra C all of a sudden appeared like a bargain.
      But yeah, these devices are a godsend to anyone who likes or needs to not only read passively but also writes and wishes to do something with that (work, learning, creative writing, ...).

    I have an NA3, runs my music-score app perfectly. However, for taking/making notes, I find it unusable. The file structure and organisation, for me, is too unintuitive. I take lots of notes and ended up with a disorganised mess. I reverted back to Apple Notes. Very disappointing, the NA3 wasn’t cheap!

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree that the file structure isn't the best. Heck their organization isn't anywhere near good, but the flexibility it offers you, if you're looking for eInk exclusively, is unrivaled. Outside eInk, though, you got too many good options. Apple Notes being prolly the best one rn. Totally agree.

    Not sure how familiar you are with Android, but in the end both devices run Android just with a different launcher.
    What you could do (maybe a video Idea)
    1 Download an APK extractor on the Tab Device.
    2 Extract the Launcher App as an APK file
    3 Transfer the APK file to the Note Air 3
    4 Install the Launcher APK
    5 Open the Launcher?!?
