Thanks for this video. I currently use an A5X daily now. I bought it based on reviews of the handwriting feel and I gotta say I love it for that. And the erase function is unbeatable. Also love that it’s essentially only for reading (without a backlight) and note taking - no distractions! Looking to pick up a 3C as well due to the increased functionality and this was very helpful!
Jeffrey, An excellent illustration of the benefits of the two devices, and it reinforces that everyone should look at their own use cases. I have both devices and have at times tried to use the one device to do everything. And it just does not work. I also have the Remarkable 2 and find it also has certain attributes that the other two don’t have. Great video keep them coming
I ❤ the look of InkNote+ and Supernote but Note Air3 C has more features that I can use for mostly reading and note taking. Thanks for all these contents that helps us to get into ereaders. 😊
I have had the 3C on a shopping cart for a week now. The other option ... the Supernote. I'm a writer, both longhand (first drafts and hand editing of typewritten drafts) and much typing (everything else). If the Supernote had a frontlight, I think I would gravitate to that. Maybe. Probably. Not sure. And then there's that darn battery! :) BTW. Nice demo of the highlighting and erasure differences between devices. And everything else, for that matter. :)
Get the 3C. I have it for a couple of days and love it. The only thing I hate is how shitty the colors are and the weight. But since Gallery 3 screens are years away and battery technology won't allow for lighter devices, there isn't much you can do about it
@@mscargill1 It would be a writing device for the most part. And reading, of course. Which reminds me of some other important things Supernote is missing: Kobo & Libby. I suspect they'll fix that come 2024 though.
@@t0dd000 Supernote doesn’t have Kobo and Libby? I have Kobo Libra 2 and use my phone reading on Libby so I want to get Note Air3 C for both apps and Kindle as well.
How do you get that amazing battery life on Supernote? Mine drains about 20% per day with heavy usage with wifi on and all notes running with handwriting recognition. Autosleep is set for 2h and Autopower off to never. No load shutdown is on. Reading around it seems that restarting the device should work. Any tips would be appreciated!
I don't use the handwriting recognition function, so my notes are all in the legacy mode. I leave wifi off and only turn it on when I start charging the device in order to back-up my files onto Google Drive. I have autosleep and autopower off, except when I close the cover, which I only do when I pack up for the day. So those are some key differences. The only other thing I can think of that might be a factor is how often we write. I write throughout the day, but certainly not all the time. My primary tool is my computer and I type more there than I take notes by hand. So that could be a factor if you are writing more.
They will be sending out their first Eink monitors in December, so the energy appears to be there. But they do seem to slip a new device into the mix every few months, it just happens quietly. You have to go to bigme.vip to see what they are selling to see if something may have popped up.
How do you make it start quickly? My palma starts instantly but this takes forever like it is the first start up every time. Any tips on make it just be in “sleep mode” and start quickly?
I turn the power-off battery saving feature in settings to disable. This causes the device to run the battery down quicker, but the upside is being able to get right into things in a second or two. And I don't find myself having the charge the device too often, so it's ultimately worth it for me.
I just have the folding case for the 3C, but I can say I really like it. It feels substantial without feeling heavy, and the folding stand is really cool and useful. I normally hate folding covers, but this one is rigid enough that is works. The only major issue I see is around how the stylus can easily roll on top of the device if you grab the cover from the side. But other than that, it's pretty solid, which is notable given that Boox has a long history of terrible cases.
@@jeffreymoss I bought my Boox on Amazon, so it came without a case/cover. But I wanted fast deliver and better customer service. So now I'm open to 3rd party covers.
I think Boox's implementation of tags has come a long way, and they are certainly bridging the gap, but I still see the Supernote's star system as more elegant and efficient. For example, to create a tag with boox, you circle the area you want to select and then pick the tag to mark it (assuming that tag is already defined). But with Supernote, you just draw a star. It's a small thing, but when I'm frantically taking notes in a meeting, it becomes an important distinction.
A pen with an eraser, set to Lasso, would work just fine as the Supernote two-finger eraser function. I think the Supernote is still a bit better in that you don't need to flip the stylus over and then back again, but it's a small advantage.
For the 3C, you can search for tags or handwriting while in a given notebook, or search for tags, handwriting, text, or titles across all notebooks in the home screen of the notetaking app. I may not have understood your question however, so let me know if I missed the mark and I'll try again.
@@jeffreymoss sorry, and I’m new so maybe I’m not phrasing it properly. So these things help us search and maybe even organize our notes. And I think SN has better way of doing these right. Like, header or something. So my question is, those tags, do you mark part or some keywords on your notes as tags? Like a title maybe? Sorry, I have no experience with these devices. Thank you
@@Cons2911 Oh, I see your question now. Yes, you use the stylus Lasso Tool to mark specific text and then mark that as a Header or Keyword in the Supernote. Then there's a section in the notebook where you can see your Headers or Keywords and then jump to that page in the notebook. Oddly, you can also select a keyword from previously generated options and apply that to a page without seeing it on the page, like an invisible bookmark. Outside notebooks, you can search on Keywords across all notebooks - headers appear only to be used within a notebook. So think of Headers like building a table of contents in a notebook, and Keywords as labels to search on in a notebook or across notebooks.
@@jeffreymoss I only know a little right now, and this feature is fairly new? If it is, it’s a step I think in the right direction. These devices are not cheap (for me), so I’m trying to assess if can get value out of it. But right now I know just little. Need to find out about checklist, or calendars (more on personal reminders not meetings) Thank you for explaining btw. I like the features of SN, but it’s not available locally and I think they’re working on a new one, not sure when though

can you take a simple comparison with inknote color plus in image quality?
On the Boox, what happens if you do write a star, and then search by handwriting a star? It can't recognize it unless it's identical?
Boox doesn't search for objects. So when you do a handwriting search, it's converting the handwriting to text and then doing a search on that.
