I am pretty sure you are my new favorite tech reviewer! I love your intros, animated personality, creativity, and how you address and communicate your thoughts and opinions as if we were sitting at a table talking! Thank you for all of this content. I wish I had found you sooner.
The more reviews and reflections on this product I see, the more I feel they went to market with hardware being their main consideration. There's so many software considerations (not necessarily bugs) left to address. I'm enjoying your videos. Love the visual cues, and jazzy sounds you're complimenting your dialogue with.
Hello, and yea the 10.3 is definitely a hardware first device. Screen, thiness.... Button >•< But, in all honesty, that's the only thing you have to get right, out the door. The software can be improved over time, so let's hope that's what happens here. and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos.
I have gone back to watch this after watching your Viwoods AI paper unboxing. How did you get the highlighting to show in a lighter shade? My highlighter is very dark. I use the tags like the Supernote headings. Interestingly for the Calendar memo, it shows the notebook I used today.
Hello :) I use layers when I use the Highlighter. I make my writing on one layer, and then I make another layer just for highlighting. Then I make sure the written text is on the top layer. I also adjust my contrast in the eInk Center. In the process of making an eInk center video now. Hope this helps. Oh, yea I love how the Calendar app is integrated with the notes and the reader app. its awesome!
I was watching this while moving my undone "To Do's" from July to Aug. where I used the AI lasso to copy and then paste them into a new notebook right as you said "You wouldn't do that."
Lol, I think you may have misunderstood something I said. I wasn't saying I wouldn't use the lasso tool to copy and paste (I do that all the time, I love the AI tools). I was being sarcastic, because the option to cut and paste isn't at the site of selection, like how they do it on the Supernote platform, or even in Boox own Neo Reader app. My sarcasm didn't register I guess... I'll work on it😂
I still don't understand why they keep each type of content seperate, or at least why there's no single place to access files. Apps are seperated from Notes are seperated from the Library... I'm reading and writing for various topics (E.g., work or a home project). Why cant I put all the things I need in one folder? (even if they're links)
Agreed! In devices like this, all the app data should be pooled and accessible by any other app. The Apple Newton did it this way, and I hear Apple's returning to the kind of data structure for the new iPhones going forward, due to AI. Thanks for stopping by
Reminds me of when I ask my iPhone using daughter where her files are and she names apps and has literally no concept of files. Drives me crazy. Boox is Android so no excuse. Cx File Explorer is one of my fist installs on Android.
I agree with you. It’s not perfect (and you may already know this) but if you look in the calendar memo app it shows the notebooks and documents you have opened on that day so you can see this written and read on the same day in one place.
Nice video! Something I haven't been able to find. How does it react when you write with your hand leaning in the screen? Does it pick up that touch or only the stylus?
Hello, and that's a great question. There are people in this eInk space who have been trying to find a way to use one app, that connects to other apps. The only app that these devices link with other apps, is the Calendar apps. So people have been trying to live from the calendar app, and try to find workarounds to make it possible. It's not possible currently, but the supernote platform is getting close, and the Boox platform is making strides in the right direction for that to be possible. Hope this helps.
Again, I love your videos about the Boox Device. Just one thing: you do complain about the select tool, which shows the 'AI' button but not copy, cut and so on. I am using this tool a lot (on a device with the same firmware) and it offers those features in the top bar. The top bar at this point of course does not offer text editing tools, which I personally did not expect it to do. I like to have a look at the text conversion first before I do that. But this is not stopping these videos from being great, this is just an addition, and maybe you mention it and I just didn't see it.
Hello and yes, I see the tools in the top tool bar. But what I mean is tools at the site of your selection, like how selecting things works in the Neo Reader. Lasso select something in the Neo Reader and that selection has tools right where you selected. It's not that way in the notes app. That's what I was saying. Hope this helps.
Hi, am i correct in thinking that you use a pen with a ceramic nib? If so, doesnt that scratch the screen at all? I'm asking because i'd much rather use a ceramic nib pen so i dont have to replace nibs every month. Thanks!
Hello, and you are correct. I use ceramic nibs exclusively on all my devices except the reMarkable 2. It's really bad for that and it feels like it might scratch the screen on there. The ceramic also draws darker more consistent lines. I did a video talking about this here: th-cam.com/video/7FQ1hQtZzJo/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, and thx for stopping by!
At 9:03 : the bigger notes area simply gives bigger notes area.... - that simple. Did you even try to use the Calendar App, to integrate it into your own workflow? If not - try it out - it has big potential in terms of planning the schedule, for the respected (future) days, with that big notes area.. Imagine, in the past, with that small area, the writer has to be "creative" to being able to Fit all the respected events, that might be planned for that day/time, etc.. But with bigger-sized writing field, it is much easier now to add all that was planned, without the efforts. What's most important is those same "Big" notes area would be shown on the screen of the Boox when it is asleep, of course if the respected mode has been chosen within the "Screensaver app"
I have and do use the Memo section in the Calendar app to plan and organize a bit, t's great! Not on my Note devices, just on the Tab Devices, due to the use of widgets. If you haven't tried that yet, it's a game changer.
@@rantsabouttechnology apparently it's a new update Freemark indeed. Did you test it already? Will it be available on all devices? I just watched a video of yours discussing the difference between na3c and tab c mini, you still prefer the latter one? Sorry for all these questions! But I don't see the tree through the forests anymore:D
LOl no worries man, thats why I'm here. I still prefer the Tab Mini C Over the Note Air 3C. In fact I'm looking into selling my Note Air 3C for a whole bunch of reason (releasing two videos talking about this over the next few days, one dropping today). I've tried Freemark but but haven't really tested it. Just used it to see what it was about. I'll add that to my testing list though, thx!
@@rantsabouttechnology thanks! Looking forward to the video. Getting some unbiased/independent feedback would be great about the new update. How does the freemark feature work? Hi. Abt 16:29: "you only want to convert that for sure" - It seems like you are absolutely absolutely sure no one else would use that AI selection for other reasons than "convert text" ?? - This seems strange. Think of a regular note takers, creating lots of notes for the lectures, in that case there is always a need to "copy" and "paste" some portion of the "handwritten notes" from one page to another or to "move" the notes...Some "handwritten" schemas or topologies, etc... - And , btw, the paste function works very quickly by simply holding with your finger on the random area or on the area that you want to paste in , post that, the drop-down menu would show up , where you'd see the button "Paste"
I was being sarcastic there, sorry it was a bit confusing. You're the second person who didn't sense the sarcasm in my voice. I clearly didn't do a good enough job with making sure the sarcasm came through. Next time, lol.
Abt 8:20 : "with all the Bold dark elements in the UI comes a lot of ghosting" - And, at the same time, you are showcasing the Browser. - Well, on this device the Browser is not the top feature, compared to taking Notes and Reading..Why not to showcase the "a lot of ghosting" on PDF doc with the propper chosen mode?
I agree with that entirely. That was just me being lazy and not recording new B-Roll. I just used what I had but, you are right. Something more relevant would have been better, Thx! Something to consider for next time.

Nah. It's so good, it doesn't matter so much that I wouldn't daily drive it... I'd just talk crap about it every time I could, like rn, lol. It's definitely not a deal breaker and seems to only be especially bad with thicker lines, which I rarely use. Thanks for stopping by!
