I just wanna day, thank you soooooooo much for posting this. You saved my life 😂. I just started my locs last week, I’m only 1 week deep AND MY SCALP WAS ITCHHHYYYYY! My loctician put me under the dryer when she did my twist and it dried out my scalp...& mannnn. But she told me to not wash until after 4 weeks. I couldn’t wait that long. I used pantyhose’s and I feel sooooo much better. My twist didn’t come out. ❤️❤️ so again thank you !

I see some people saying not to wash often. Y'all healthy hair is happy hair. Wash as much as you feel necessary....at least 2-3 times a month. You don't need to retwist after each wash, defintely not recommended. Too much tension on your hair. Also scalp massages are GOLDEN.

@@xtoau I believe that's a personal preference and depends on how a person started their locs. Stocking caps help with that when washing though.

@@Notorious-AP Really well thank you. I'm now one year and 4 months loced. I've chosen to not twist and have loved the semi-freeform route. Limiting the oils in my head as well. My scalp is super sensitive, so I have to be really careful what I massage in. Have been using my Aloe Vera plant to condition which is working out beautifully. Loving my journey immensely. Thanks for reaching out after all these months. That was super sweet of you.

I just started my loc journey on Thursday 7/9/20 and was curious as to how I can wash my hair without them unraveling. This video is very helpful and look forward to washing my hair for the first time in another two weeks.

I did this with hair clips and my locs came out looking better than they did before the wash. Great method honestly.

I know This video is dated but I am so glad that I found it! I have seborrheic dermatitis and 9 days after starting my locs with two strand twist my scalp was terrible! Tried dry shampoo, Sulfur 8 braid spray, and various oils, but nothing helped. I just used this method today and my scalp is clean. No unraveling! Thank you so much for sharing this shampoo method.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why locticians tell you not to wash your hair when from what I’ve read, one of the most important things is having a clean, healthy scalp. I would rather some of them unravel than have a dirty scalp…my scalp is hideous because I was told not to wash it but I’m buying a wig cap today and some Shea moisture cleanse shampoo and I’m washing my scalp. I’d rather have a frizzy mess than a bunch of sweat and dandruff build up.

I use a spray bottle with water and coconut oil (massage scalp) not one flake and I have had my locs no wash for 2 months now

I use this method when washing and it works perfect. No unravel other than what already has unraveled before my wash. My lotician does not want me to wash my hair until I loc. When i go to her she asks did you wash, and I say yes. Then I ask her how my hair looks, and she responds it looks good. Then I respond well we are both good then (LOL).

This just secured when I’m going to shampoo! I’m going on 2 months and I started mine two strand twists. I have two different textures of hair in the front and back and I just don’t want any of it to unravel at all!!

Since starting my locs back in May I haven’t washed since I’m definitely doing this my scalp is so itchy! I can’t take it🤣
I didn’t use a stocking cap & when my gf finished washing my hair I had a fro but the ends of my hair didn’t unravel , just the hair closest to my scalp did. That was after waiting 1 and a half months to wash.

And if you are scared to wash your hair with shampoo just do a apple cider vinegar rinse still has the clarification properties of shampoos

Doing this caused dead skin to get trapped in my locs .the dead skin got trapped in my roots instead of rinsing off in the water n because of this alot of my locs I had to come out and restart

So, before I take the cap off I let then sit wrapped in my towel for about 15-20 mins to soak up some that extra water and then i’ll my moisturizing routine. I typically retwist after myself.
