Ever since the first time I saw Slayer at Lamour in Brooklyn I've been mesmerized by Dave Lombardo's drumming. As impressive as he is on recordings you really need to see him live to appreciate the inhuman level of his ability. Slayer's biggest mistake was not acknowledging his value. Lombardo is the greatest metal drummer of all time. Period.
Керри ревнует к способностям Дэйва. Это очевидно. Керри не виртуозн по природе, и он сам это понимает. Поэтому он не может признать талант дэйва. Ему остаётся только скрипеть зубами..
I think the problem with most modern metal drummers is their performances are actually too tight and precise. even playing live, a lot of drummers sound like it’s a computerized cookie cutter track, and what I appreciate about drummers like Dave is even as precise as he is, there is still a human sounding element to his playing!
Vinnie Paul was extremely tight and his playing always sounded amazing. I guess it's just a special something some drummers have, and Dave certainly has it too.
At least Dave didin't have to spend money on the gym, that drum set was his own personal cardio machine. Just insane skill, precision, speed and power behind the drums.
The biggest thing here is how Dave just rocks up. Zero stretches. Nada. Sits down, shrugs his shoulders as if he's going for a leaisurely stroll in the park. Then delivers a performance that literally melts the flesh from your face. Legend
One of the things that I think of here is how small Dave's kit is. In an era where the kits were massive for metal/ thrash drummers, reaching well over 30 pieces for most drummers, Dave always kept it economical. Look at his setup here. 8 drums and 9 cymbals. That is all he needs to make this huge sound.
The fact that he does most of his "double bass" hits on one foot is amazing. I have seen him over a dozen times, dont care what band he's in but if he's in slayer, it's on. He has his own sound, he IS the backbone of Slayer, and that sums it up. Its a shame with all the political crap they dont pay him what he is owed. And we would see him on tour with Slayer right now.
Always thought that was amazing how DL didnt warm up or stretch or any kind of prep. Just got on the kit and his warmups were the first couple songs. One of the greatest of all time \w/
@@FantaFuture92 Well, most drummers tend to just keep the beat, timing, and accentuate the rhythm. Dave, on the other hand, manages to join in with the riffs.
Plays Bostaphs Parts Flawlessly! Dave Lombardo Worked Through The Bullshit With Slayer and Remains The Man! Greatest Heavy Drummer Ever! The Name is Dave! I Love and Appreciate Paul Bostaph.. Amazing as Well In All He Did.. But This..Dave..The King..Sorry Everyone Else.. Dave for The Win.
Dave's drumming style is one only he has the flow of it and how he hits the drums and the amount of time between hits is totally unique to himself. You can cover the drums and Hit every note but it will still sound off
How many calories did he just burn in the first song of the set... what a legend. When I saw him with Fantomas, all I could think was he hits the drums impossibly hard.
Lombardo killing it as always, precise like a swiss clock. Bostaph did an awesome job in this album, his style is fresh (less straight forward than Lombardo's) and maybe a little bit technical, but his double bass is sloppy and blurred, specially you can hear it in the riff at 3:23 in the recording (sextuplets or 16th notes?), while Dave is hitting every kick faster and with all the energy of the universe like nothing.
As a drummer myself of 25 years and knowing Slayer tunes like the back of my hand in regards to drum parts, I can objectively say that Dave has always been better than Paul in the following: meter consistency, groove, dynamics, creativity, precision and double bass. This performance here shows (especially at the end) how much Dave enhanced those drum parts from the studio version.
Me and friends went to hear and see Slayer Clash of the Titans 1991. One of the best years in the history of metal. These guys were in their prime, but Dave Lombardo is still on his prime. His drumming it's still solid, fast, precise. Immaculate. Too bad Kerry King got greedy. The more a person have, the more the person want. When they die they won't grasp a penny
I wonder what he thinks of Pauls drum writing skills since he's playing his song (drum wise). Also, Divine Intervention is a masterpiece and Paul adds so much to it. I am fortunate we got to have both drummers in Slayer (Dave & Paul)
God may hate us all, but he loves Dave's drumming!
God hates no one, he love Dave's drumming too.
I love how calm he is before going on. Then sits down, 4 count and it's on!!!!!!!
Seasoned veteran
He should be fired up about getting paid 1/10th of what Kerry got. FU KK.

Damn right. Amazing to watch.
best THRASH metal drummer ever for sure! but there are some death metal drummers now that are on another level!

Dave Lombardo and Vinnie Paul two genius.. two metal rhythm generals..
r. i. p. Vinnie

Remember when people say Lars is too old, and that's why he doesn't play well anymore? I love showing them this.
One of the greatest of all time! Lars still dreams of being this good!!!
He probably doesn't care and just respects Lombardo and vice versa. Both crucial parts of the thrash movement that influenced millions.
I love how there was no warm up. As soon as he sat down it was right into the song.
One word...'epic'!
Absolute badass. I wish he did the drum tracks for GHUA.
