Dave Lombardo is literally the best metal drummer of all time. His ability to play so fast with both hands and feet, and keep in such perfect time for so long is incredible, and the energy that he must have to play like he does at every gig, especially when you consider how he's starting to get a bit old now, is just amazing! He's more than just a god, he is LOMBARDO!!!
@bryon jackson Kollias is one of the fastest in the world and very precise but his style is so unmemorable and lacks character, creativity it puts me to sleep. @@aditwani6562 I'm actually worried about Nick. He's very overweight and has a drug problem. Looks like he's on a steady decline and will eventually succumb to bad health. Hopefully he seeks help but unlikely.
This is the ultimate brutalmetal drumming. You can be more technical refined sophisticated or whatever but you can never be near as badass kickass stamina heavy beast as Lombardo. Bow to the master.
They fucked up big time not paying Dave what he was worth to keep him in Slayer!! Now he’s kicking ass in Suicidal Tendencies and I’m sure they are showing him the proper respect and $$ for his skills and name recognition he brings to the table!! 👍🏽😎🔥🔥🥁🥁
Paul is half the drummer this guy is. It's really sad what Tom and Kerry did to him. Just watch the videos. Paul is way out of his league. The playing is the proof.

Him, along Gene Hoglan are among the most amazing drums composers. Every hit, and every part in this song's drums is carefully selected and it fits perfection. What he did with Angel of Death is just beyond words.

stealing the show? For accenting a badass drum part in the song. That's what you do in live performances. Every member does a little something more that they don't merely by hearing the album. What he did there was appropriate and very cool
Antarctic Vortex the reason was he questioned where the $4,000,000 was going per year. He got paid $750 per gig but the bands income was over $4 million a year.
Bullshit I'm a drummer of 28 years the reason for Dave not in the band is because Dave is a huge huge dick with an ego to match really no one and I mean no one liked Dave as a person loved him as a drummer in my eyes Lombardo along with Hunting are the two best thrash drummers of all time.
To say that Slayer underestimated the value of Lombardo's drumming is an understatement. What the rest of the band does is great, but it's nothing that hasn't been done before. What Lombardo's doing however is phenomenal and pioneering. Nobody ever played drums like that before he did. He is the originator of that style and the perfectionist of that style.
What every other drummer who has ever done this song is missing is Dave's sense of swing. It's not just that it's fast - when Dave does it, the song bobs and weaves instead of marches.
Dave’s humble reaction at the end. Seriously not just an amazing drummer, but an all around cool guy. And as everyone said in the comments for the last 10 years…….that double bass though. He holds that for so long. I’ve had the pleasure watching Dave do this in that brief period when he rejoined Slayer and just watching and listening to his performance is just unreal.

A trigger is an electronic sensor that is put on a drum (mostly bass drum) that makes a certain sound from compressed files. Kinda like electronic drums
Triggers doesn’t mean talentless; using triggers as a mic is different than using triggers so you can edit tracks. Dave just doesn’t play high enough tempos for it to become more practical to use triggers over mics. Once you get in the 240+bpm range, you start losing the ability to discern the different notes on bass heads. There’s a few drummers that play in that range without triggers and you can see what I mean when you watch them play...triggers are just a more practical approach to very high tempos. Derek Roddy is one drummer who doesn’t use triggers and plays 250+bpm.
+Edosardo73 So Kerry and Tom should have just hung it up? Spent all their money and done guitar camps for Sam Ash? These guys knew what they were getting into. Slayer haven't put out a bad album yet, IMO and lots of bands can't say that that are way bigger.
verve92 Ok, i'm not saying that albums without Lombardo are shit, but Dave is the most important death/thrash drummer of all time, he is a great musician. Every time I’m around a drum kit, I play this video and attempt to mimic the man w/ thunder in his veins! I’m convinced that Dave Lombardo is Dimebag Darrell in a drummer’s alternate universe. How Dimebag was on the axe, Dave is the exact same on drums with ferocity and pinpoint precision style of play! Goes without saying that 2 of my 4 all-time greatest line-up spots go to Dimebag and Lombardo. I love Vinnie Paul-God rest the soul-but Lombardo is just so technically proficient as a drummer. If Lombardo played on Vinnie Paul’s kit, eargasm would be an understatement!

I saw Dave as Suicidal Tendencies' drummer recently...he did the famous double bass part during one of the songs and I nearly went to heaven and died, I was so happy

I saw them in concert in 91' with Alice In Chains Anthax & Megadeth & gotta say' until this day they are BY FAR!!! the best f#ckin live band I've ever seen in my life!! & Dave Lombardo's drumming was better live than I ever heard in studio if that's possible! Well needless to say after that concert I didn't need anymore convincing! lol! I nearly lost my f#ckin mind at that concert with joy at how good they really were!!!

Bruno is there is full interview that isnt chopped up I can watch on here about what happened i keep watching this video over seems like he was being fucked with alot for no reason.
not the most technical? the dude was pretty much flawless, what do you mean?
@@panrick he means there are faster drummers out there but he was the perfect fit for slayer
@@santeripitkanen5059 faster and technical are not the same thing. Lombardo plays with feel, and he's technical. that makes him the best drummer for Slayer
4:04 Holy shit!!!! Sorry, man... Paul Bostaph is good but THIS is a LEGEND!!!!
Thanks for the peek into the fun Lombardo and HIS crew were having whilst he was in the band.
If Lombardo played on Vinnie Paul’s kit, eargasm would be an understatement!
this song make me to cry of happiness thank you so much guys thanks
Best Feet, Hands, Mind, And Everything Else In The World Known as Slayer. Dave IS a God!
Hahaha! The howl at 5:00 is just perfect! X-D
Wow, one of the most musical metal drummers i've seen.
Best drummer in the world....no doubt about that!...its quite cool when u think of it, Slayer has been around since the start of the 80´s, and Dave still manage to keep the pace
simply amazing :)
Tom hunting
Holy shit!!!! Still blows my mind the super human drumming skills!!! :)
I love how their engineer doesn’t use overheads. He just close mics all of the cymbals. Sounds so clean out front.
Even now, Paul Bostaph still can't touch Lombardo.
he never can mate... nobody can!!
I can't understand guys who says that Bostaph is better, there's no possible comparaison !
They're both great drummers in their own right..but Dave suits Slayer more imo
fully agreed
It's because of his drumming on Divine Intervention. Killing Fields has some real technical drumming on it.
Wow. I am in awe. Great angle of view. I could watch this a hundred times and never tire of it.
I just love the fact that Dave turned around and acknowledged you all filming him after the song. What a cool guy.
4:06 i am like: what?!?!?!?
That fill was fucking insane.
This is defination of greatest metal drummer of the all time..4:05 WTF !
27 seconds of pure fucking double bass solo!! The man
I saw Dave as Suicidal Tendencies' drummer recently...he did the famous double bass part during one of the songs and I nearly went to heaven and died, I was so happy
way to go Lombardo. the best drummer ever in thrash metal.
He's an absolute warlord with those drums!! I remember a Slayer concert I went to and the floor vibrated like fuck from the double bass. An experience i"ll never forget!! The man's a fucking legend!
This dude is most of what made Slayer "Slayer".....
oh Dave, the master drummer of all generations of extreme metal
Never tired of watching this awesome piece of art.
When I heard him live in 2006 on this song I thought I was dreaming (the whole band was impressive as well tbh 😃)
Dave Lombardo.....One of the best and most honest. Love this guys drumming.
Man, Dave Lombardo is the GOAT. Say no more
I watch this every other day and all I can say when I see it is
HOLY FUCK! Dave lombardo is the absolute best thrash metal drummer of all time.
fuck , lombardo is really a god !!
What make's this video better than most back stage drum cam filing is two of the best ORIGINAL thrash metal drummers and one is so stoaked to see a kick ass legendary double bass part
Played by the other, that is a true compliment
I'm not a drummer. That said, Dave is by far the best drummer in metal. He is a beast! I love this video.
Wow!!! Always has been my absolute favorite drummer
4:36
Epic moment :')
Raúl Carmona Jiménez o
Absolutely incredible performance by Dave Lombardo. Slayer is not Slayer without him.
TRUE STORY' Back in the late 80's when i first started listening to Slayer i wasn't sure how much i really liked them' UNTIL!!..
Frederick John Picarello - That was the Clash Of The Titans tour. I saw them too that summer. All three bands were in their prime and all three had epic albums out. Even Alice in chains kicked ass!
@@pasqualzUnfortunately we got there a little late and missed Alice in Chains but did see Anthrax Megadeth and Slayer with Slayer being the last band to play. In any case Anthrax and Megadeth were good but the volume was a little lower than I expected for a rock concert but that all ended when Slayer came out and volume went up to where you would expect. Needless 2say they were awesome & the adrenaline rush was better than any other 2say the least!
Saw them too at Clash of the Titans. AIC got booed.
Never played drums a day in my life and get goosebumps watching him play.
AK 47 style
AK 47?...noooo...beretta style
pepito sbarzeguti No, AK-47 style.
@ pepito sbarzeguti
Exactly
no, MG42 style
🤟😎✌️🤣
I love at the end he says "Was that ok?" jokingly. Yes, Dave, that was more than ok. That was godlike.
Singer and drummer of Exodus at 5:40
+woodaki leme ex singer they kicked him out and got back the piggy voice zetro
+Kmasterz Sanchez 1000% correct. Forgot to mention that !!!
With the double bass solo I got goosebumps when the people were going nuts, I saw both LINEUPS with Dave and without, with Lombardo , you feel he is driving the music with power and groove, with Paul he is following Kerry if you musicians know war I mean
OH this is beautiful.........the first record i bought on vinyl 1986, Reign in Blood as a teen after hearing ' Criminally insane ' on U.K friday rock show radio...
LOMBARDO. Seriously is there anything else to say?
I'm old...love metal...Dave Lombardo is the only member of slayer that I can refer to as "Great"
This is what drumming is for me: talent, taste, tightness and natural sound. AMAZING!!!!!!! And thanks SO MUCH for uploading this :)
everytime i get up in the morning i go on my knees and thank the person who uploaded this video, i return here at least once a week...
Simply the best drum performance ive ever seen
