      This is the first I've heard adding leaves to the freezer will start them to decay ('compost'). Thanks. And thank you for the very nice comment.

      @@SupremeGecko
      You get snow and the cold wet snow assists with the leaves decay(compost). I don't get snow unless up in the Mountains, so I use the freezer as a substitute for winter/snow. Since Spring is here, I will put the leaves in a storage container and outside in the sun.

    Excellent video, Wally, and it's great to see that you have some Flameleg Millipedes. I always watch your videos anyway and love to see a millipede video, of course. Be sure to check out the legs on this species under UV/blacklight!
    You cracked me up about mentioning the leaf stems several times. I'm the same way. Left on, they will just stay in the tank forEVER! You probably noticed we pull the majority of them off before we pack the leaf bags. I do recommend you crush the leaves up into fine'ish bits as you put them atop the substrate. It's especially important to make them more accessible for young millipedes if you reproduce the species. Your sphagnum moss is a great addition! There is also ground sphagnum moss in the substrate we provide. I appreciate the great video on this species, and thanks so much for the shoutout! I'd also like to offer a $50 gift certificate to your end of the year giveaway or some contest before that if you're up for it. Thanks so much!

    • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Peter! Thank you so much for everything- additions in the recent shipment, wonderful comments in my videos, and always wanting everyone to learn and keep their animals as best as they can. So many things I don't know- I will def. check with a blacklight. Man, I HATE leaf stems!!! And I noticed that about the leaves you sent. WOW! Way to go the extra mile! I usually do crush up leaves. I think I just got into the flow of the video and didn't want to take more time. And that substrate! WOW, perfect. I wanted to make some 'drug related' comment but I didn't think that would go over well. The gift certificate is again, above and beyond. I will gladly accept as I think this giveaway will be amazing, and would love for you to be in it. The last 12 Supreme Days of Christmas we did, we gave out over $2000 of gifts! Thank YOU so much.

    Hi again can i put water bowl in the corner of the enclosure to help the humidty? and for the ventilation do i need to poke holes on the top or the front and back side? And instead of heat mat can i steam some cloth and put on the sides? (my enclosure is translusent plastic container that have a plastic cover,and have four holes for each side)also did you use cheese cloth for the ventilation?

    • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rather than a water bowl, put a piece of sphagnum moss in there and cover it with bark. For ventilation, we provide holes both on the sides and on top. If you cannot do a heat map (IF you need to provide more warmth) place the enclosure near a light or some other object that will allow the temps to raise a few degrees. Yes, cheese cloth along with other materials works well.
