QUESTION OF THE REVIEW: Come up with a better Descendants "in-between-quel" series (same format as Wicked World) and pitch your idea! Maybe focus on other characters (from the books or entirely new ones,) or fully develop one of the many ignored subplots that went nowhere. Bonus points for including an animation style you think would work with your idea.

LIKE AND REPLY TO THE ANSWERS THAT YOU'D MOST LIKE TO HEAR BOBSHEAUX AND RAVEN DISCUSS AND IT MIGHT HELP THAT ANSWER BE ONE OF THE ONES CHOSEN!
Since Cameron Boyce was still with us and was in Wicked World, my idea is a series of shorts about Carlos overcoming his fear of dogs which was instilled in him by his mother. Part of his overcoming his inherent villainy (by birthright, it seems) would be learning that dogs are wonderful, from the newborn puppies, to the loveable seniors. He would learn to not be afraid of and eventually truly appreciate big dogs, small dogs and all the different breeds of dogs. Maybe he could establish an animal shelter or rescue in Auradon.
My idea is a series that could involve Facilier teaching his daughter about his business practices, and she debates on how she should operate her own business practices as well.
Or maybe we could even see Mal trying to actually be good and prove she’s not like Maleficent instead and maybe even making peace with Audrey if they’re going to go that route.
Something that better establishes Uma, Harry, and Gil as characters in this franchise, i just feel like the direction "Wicked World" went with felt a bit odd, oh and throw Dizzy in there as well if you want.
My idea is where the Descendants cause a magic spell that brings characters from different dimensions, explaining how all these characters came to live together and not from expanded material, and one of these characters is Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls where he unleashes Weirdmaggedon upon Aurodon. The kids try to find a way to stop him, I.E. through stupid means and when they do this stupid thing in particular, it back fires and Bill strips them all of their magic, turns them into statues and reigns supreme on Aurodon, taking over the Disney Multiverse.

One thing that I ALWAYS ALWAYS wanted to hear discussed is how the heroes thought of their villains being brought back to life. I imagine some heroes would be okay with it, like I can picture Shang liking the idea of his fathers murder to be in prison for the rest of the days. But there's no way Aladdin would like it seeing all the work he did to kill Jafar being completely undone. But what about Rapunzel? How would she feel about Mother Gothel coming back to life. There are so many interesting ideas in this concept. But then again this is Descendants, why should I except quality.
I would also love to see another Disney Channel show in the Tangled Animated Series art style and it would fit for other Disney movies just like it did in TTAS. But I would not want such a unique art style go to waste for Descendants. What Descendants deserves is that AWFUL art style in the Z-O-M-B-I-E animated shorts.
In the Emperor's New Groove Yzma is referred to as "living proof the dinosaurs once roamed the earth." Even accounting for exaggeration she is ridiculously old. Any child she may have had is going to be at least as old as these kids' parents.
The restaurant scene had the cake with so many candles that some were shoved literally into the side of it while the entire top was basically a campfire.
On top of that, Yzma was one of Disney's more comedic villains. And she didn't have access to magic, unless you count her potions... which were mostly things that turned people into random animals. In other words: Not really all that threatening.
So why in the FUCK would anybody be threatened by her "son"?

Also, given the fact that she practically raised Kuzco which basically robbed her of any youth she had left (even though her backstory in the old scripts of Kingdom of the Sun and her cut villain song probably aren't canon, I think raising Kuzco would still do a number on her youth either way), and all that led to was Kuzco being a spoiled ungrateful worm as she puts it, on top of basically having to babysit Kronk on a regular basis, wouldn't Yzma having a descendant like this make the absolute LEAST sense compared to basically every other Disney villain? Both from her age, AND attitudes towards raising kids in the first place?
We should go visit Walt Disney's grave. At this rate his turning body probably has enough energy to power a generator.

...Why is the daughter of Alice here. At least most of the main characters are the children of Disney heroes and villains who were of marriageable (and therefore presumably childbearing) age, or like, magical beings. But Alice was _seven_ in her movie.
I get that they united all the Disney worlds through time and space somehow, but how could they possibly have made it line up so that Alice's daughter is the same age as Cruella De Ville's son, when the stories of Alice in Wonderland and 101 Dalmatians take place _in the same country a century apart??_

How can she have a kid?? The main joke about her in The Emperor's New Groove is that she's _ungodly old._ As in, "post-menopausal before the events of her movie even BEGAN" old. There's no way she could possibly have a teenage son, Aurodon's timey-wimey universe-blending nonsense be damned!
Maybe he's adopted? Would that spackle up the plot hole?
@@v1de0gamr23 Adoption doesn't exist in this franchise, it can't. They're too obsessed with the idea of these all being biological sons and daughters, because that's the only reason any of them are special.
If some of the kids were adopted, that would open the door to other non-blood-related varieties of young successors, like apprentices or students, or even just young people who were inspired by the hero or villain's legacy and is emulating them on purpose, and that would just make too much sense.
Honestly, trying to explain that would make a much more interesting story than the one we got. I like to think that she might’ve used her secret lab to try and play god.
You've never seen the Emperor's New Groove? My god man what are you waiting for?! It's a Disney classic! The movie is also a comedy and Yzma is portrayed as a goofy villain. So you not feeling any dread at her son's appearance is actually the appropriate response. Disgust maybe, but not dread.
Why they would choose the son of Yzma of all people to be the big threatening villain is beyond me. Why not make a child of Chernabog or something if you want a truly threatening villain

I don't know, disgust alone doesn't seem to be my response. More like disgust turned up to 11. Thinking about a woman older than the hills having a teenaged son, when she's probably older than Aurora's great-grandmother just makes me want to puke. And I still don't get how a character like Alli exists. Geez, Disney! It's past midnight, and I had to get up and walk away from my first chance in days for a decent night's sleep because of the nightmare of all the hoops the creators would need to jump through just to make even the smallest logistics work. I hope I can keep my dinner down, but knowing that I'm not crazy to think this is mental torture in logistics alone helps. Thanks for speaking up, guys.

I just took it as the trinket they tried to get Audrey to steal is cursed/jinxed/booby trapped or something, so if she takes it, there will be hilarious and/or dangerous consequences. She and her dad probably jinxed it to teach would-be thieves a lesson: Don't mess with the Shadow Man. Freddie probably just saw Auradon kids and thought she'd entertain herself by jinxing/cursing them by her dad's tricks, then stand back and watch the show.
Then they could’ve had Freddie accidentally unleash the curse/trap. It would’ve been a better explanation and given the audience some potentially funny, karmic slapstick.
"Your asking for quality, that's adorable" a perfect summary of the franchise, given how the royal wedding and descendants 3 promised quality, only to give actual trash in reality

Ezma's most common defining feature that sticks with me is the way everyone who meets her describes her to others: "ugly beyond all reason." Seriously, one of the first scenes with her has Prince Kuzco internally monologuing about how old and ugly she is, paying special attention to each detail including the veggie stuck between her teeth! Doesn't make her sound intimidating, I'll admit, but gives Kuzco ample time to become one of the most arrogant, superficial and loathsome characters in Disney. But after we get through that, she's a funny as freak villain, and makes the Emperor's New Groove a lot of fun. I actually enjoy her scenes way more than those of the protagonists, especially when paired with her sidekick and lovable oaf servant, Kronk. If you ever feel like getting back to a mood where you can enjoy yourself watching Disney and have you and Raven laugh till you cry, you might want to give it a watch.
Freddy is the terrible child that Facilier abandoned to have an actually competent child who actually understands the concept of business. Which is we they don’t talk about Freddy and why she’s a failure and not Facilier’s child. Because Facilier doesn’t raise bad businessmen

The fact that they had _Audrey_ say that makes me think it's meant to be a callback to the events of Sleeping Beauty. Where Audrey's very own grandparents threw a party and snubbed Mal's mother Maleficent.
...Which begs the question of why everyone's treating it like such a lame threat, when said snubbing of Maleficent was apparently SUCH a huge deal that it nearly cost Audrey's mom her _life._

Where is Dopey's son, Doug? Him, Evie and Carlos are the only decent characters in that franchise... And the only ones that make sense even a little with their personalities. In this Evie is there, I guess, Carlos was shafted and Doug is nowhere to be seen.
And where was Lonnie in the third movie?

TBF, they probably left out Carlos because of his actor's death. Doug on the other hand, yeah I have no idea.

Also, remember that after Genie was freed he became the merchant at the beginning and end of Aladdin. I could see him getting a wife and having a kid.
Concerning Jordan, Genie did have a love interest in the "Aladdin" TV series who was a female genie named Eden, so the idea of having a daughter named after the river Jordan isn't that odd.
Why they didn't make her purple, blue, or green in a production that's already animated is the bizarre part. Her introduction also brings up the issue of being the easy solution that all problems. Making it where her powers were restricted to granting wishes of those holding her lamp can forgo making resolutions too easy, but she still shouldn't be the one wishing on the lamp herself.
And why does she even HAVE a lamp when both Genie and Eden were free by the time she would've been born?
I guess if Jafar's transformation into a genie is any indication, anytime a genie is created a lamp also materializes to trap them? Why would Genie want to subject a child to that?? I mean, at the very least, if that was how it worked you'd think the first thing they would do as soon as she was born is hand her lamp over to Uncle Aladdin or somebody so he could wish her free without having to endure centuries of enslavement like her parents did.
@@elsie8757 Well, the lamp process I was suggesting was meant more like training wheels. Just a system to let her learn how to control her powers without risking her being overwhelmed or abusing things like endless money qnd the like, being a teenager and all.
Admittedly, that brings un the question of what Genie and Eden did to be entrapped in the first place. Usually sealed Djinn are the result of some wrongdoing or punishment by Solomon, but neither seemed inherently evil or selfish.
@@tomforge614 But recall what happens in the original movie when Aladdin tricks Jafar into wishing that he was a genie: A lamp spontaneously appears and sucks him in. That implies that, at least in that universe, genies aren't trapped in lamps as punishment, it's generated as soon as a genie is created.

Fridge logic: Ben is upset and apologizes for purposely breaking a mug, which makes a pathetic kind of sense, when you consider his parents, who considered a tea set, a clock, and a candelabra as dear friends.
That occurred to me too, actually! But then I remembered that all those people were turned back into humans long before Ben was even born and it went back to not making sense again.

I don't believe he would never ask mom and dad for advice about love and relationships, which would lead to them talking about how they met, and how it all went down. Especially because Lumiere had to teach the students (Ben included) Be Our Guest for family day. That has direct references to the Beast's servants in their nonhuman forms.

Well, from the world of villains, I didn't have much for the final fight, the only ones who fight are Mal and Eevie against Zevon, while CJ doesn't even appear and yay, Carlos and Freddie are shrunk as soon as the whole climax appears, they spent it that size and in the lamp . and when they return to normal they don't care much that the 3 were in a tiny size and freddie doesn't even seem to feel anything when cj appears instead he starts dancing
7:26 I'm a year late but Genie has "phenomenal cosmic powers", creating life is probably one of those powers. Also in real Arabian folklore, genies and humans sometimes had children together.
There still another animated series like this except that was a 4th new sequel.

Am I the only person that is tired of this idea. Let's take this iconic monsters, fairy tale character or whatever and instead off the show about them let's just put their descendants into school and use every boring cliche, like camping trip, playing sport games, dealing with bullies etc. The only thing diverging this shows is an esthetic. If you like goth looking things you may like Monster High (or hate it, because how it depicts monsters) or if you like girly things you may prefer Ever After High. Wouldn't it be cool to have a show seeing how this iconic characters might interact ? Maybe kingdom of Cinderella used to be at war with the kingdom of Sleeping Beauty or something ? Or just Dracula and his gang of monsters living in a giant mansion having fun scaring people ?

How the heck can Hook have a child? He was never interrested about romance AND got chased by the crocodile at the end of the movie. The mermaids were scared of him so i doubt one of them was in love with the pirate. Same for the Genie, how did he have a daughter? Did he met a genie girl and married her? This is strange 🤨😐

It seemed somewhat racist to me that they chose Freddie to be one of Zevon's first victims since there were 2 male villains and they should see 2 good women but instead of choosing lonnie and ally instead of her, also that only 4 female villains in the series and while bad, evie and cj had light skin she was the only one with "dark" skin
The more I watch these movies the more they annoy me because as Raven said they had so much potential to be great
I'm even okay with the idea of the kids being the opposite of their parents but they didn't do anything interesting with it
What if Ben was dyslexic and struggled to read? As the king he'd be expected to use all these big words and Latin phrases in speeches which are hard enough to say out loud. Imagine the struggles Ben would face as a king and how insecure he'd feel about it when his mother famously reads hundreds of books all at once. Belle would probably be a very popular queen with her natural charm and charisma and intelligence so Ben would have a high standard to live up to. Ben could have had a great little storyline where he becomes good friends with one of the VK's as they tutor him (like in The Kings Speech). Maybe they bond over a musical number as the VK teaches him a little trick for remembering certain words and that pays off at the end when he makes a big speech in the form of a musical number that earns everyone's love and approval
Also, on a side note, Carlos should have way better costumes. His mother is Cruella De Ville, he should be wearing fur coats and red leather shoes, all the most expensive things in the whole kingdom. Cruella would be turning her son into a miniature version of herself, showing him off at every social gathering like a trophy. That could be Carlos's own story arc, not only does he learn to not fear dogs but being away from his controlling and materialistic mother allows him to discover his own sense of identity and dress more like himself

A lady in waiting is not someone who's waiting to become a lady; she's a lady who waits on (i.e. serves under) a woman of higher standing, such as a princess! Ergo, there is NO SUCH THING as a "princess in waiting"!

if you wanted a villain for the show why did they go with the child being someone relating to Morgan Le Fay from King Arthur mythology seeing Camelot is a part of the descendant's universe instead of a child belonging to Yzma?
...I was about to say "because the King Arthur mythos isn't covered under the Disney umbrella, but then I remembered that The Sword in the Stone is in fact a thing. On the other hand, Morgan Le Fay isn't in that movie... So Mad Madam Mim, maybe??
