- A European 2D hand-animated film just arrived in UK cinemas called 'A Greyhound of a Girl' (Distributed by @dazzler7302 )! It's one of only a handful of movies to make me cry!
Set in Ireland, this movie is all about the strong bond between multiple generations of ladies in a family and honestly made me feel more emotions than Inside Out 2!
I have seen next to zero coverage about this movie out there, so I was compelled to bring you this train of thought/review of it!

Didn't think films like these got released in cinemas, which certainly explains why no one watches them.
Yeah, its only really because I work in a cinema that I'm aware of all these animated films that come and go. This one is such a rare standout, usually i wouldn't go out of my way to watch them.
I watched the film in cinemas too and it was so perfect.
I'll have to check it out one day, hopefully when it gets to streaming in the United States.
Anastasia looks like she could be anyone's first animated movie crush.😊
You know I'm glad that this video showed up in my Recommended because I will be checking it out when I can!
Also your animation for your character is very smooth and expressive
Enzo d'Alo is an underrated animation director who gave us Lucky and Zorba as well as Momo: The Conquest of Time, two Italian animated films that have become well received by critics and audiences in their home country.
I definitely wanna check out Enzo's other films after seeing this! :)
i JUST came home from watching this movie, i NEEDED to drag my friend down to see it with me because 1: its 2d!! thats so rare nowadays!! and 2: its set in ireland, where i live!! i was like omg yay
i had to see if anyone else covered it because i found it strange that only like two other people were watching it. this movie needs more attention its so pretty!!!! i love it so much. and oohhh my god the emotion agh......... also tansey is absolutely gorgeous i was gushing over her the entire time,,
we had a rlly good time with watching it !! :)
Yesss so glad to hear you got to see it! I would like to think Irish cinemas are giving this more screentime due to its setting!
@@AnimatedAF my local cinema stops showing it on the 12th siiiigh...
@@mitsygirly probably making way for the stampede of minions lol
@@AnimatedAF yeaaahh that makes sense actually lolol
I hope to get a chance to see this movie one day, for I miss the good old 2D hand-drawn animation very much.
3:45 You're spot on with that! My first thought when I saw this was, "Aw, it reminds me of Holly Hobbie and Friends!" so yeah, very nostalgic! :')
I had to look that one up! I could see it in the backgrounds especially
what an underrated channel
U got pretty smooth animation :D
Gonna stop watching at the Spoiler Warning to see if I can watch this movie. But honestly it'll probably through the internet because this movie isn't in theaters over here in the US. Quite unfortunate.
Apparently it was on in the US sometime late last year but I assume in very limited screenings. Hopefully it'll find it's way to streaming and/or physical in the near future.
@@AnimatedAF Yeah, I sure hope so
Unfortunately, a lot of these types of indie films don't get shown down here where I live unless it's for a film festival, and even that's pretty exclusive. Since it's a European film, the chances of it being shown here are even smaller.
I'll see if I can find a way to see it, find the Spanish version maybe.
Hopefully it appears on streaming around the world soon!
Personally one of my Favorite movies of the year so glad I saw it twice in cinemas (June 29th and July 4th) just a shame it wasn’t doing well at my local cinema as both screenings I was at were pretty much empty (doesn’t help it only showed for 3 days) even got myself a UK Cinema Quad Poster for it too 🥰
Nice one grabbing the poster and seeing it twice! I think we might still have the poster rolled up in the back at my cinema, I'll have to check!
Btw thanks for uploading those clips on your channel from it, including the credits which helped me put that list of animation studios down. Now I think about it, I should credit you in the description!
@AnimatedAF your welcome since I really wanted to post some clips since ngl ever since I saw this movie opening day I’ve been talking non stop about it and a credit would be nice thx u 🙂 also I’m also wanting to get this movie on BD so badly hope Dazzler releases one might even grab the Italian BD when it comes out in September
It was empty when I watched it too.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 such a shame too it deserves more attention
I watched Greyhound this film during my flight back to KY. The animation is gorgeous and it's very similar to glibly or cartoon saloon standards. Wish I could watch it in theaters in the U.S. ;)
Note making this comment early in video because want to say at first I thought this was a straight to demand/dvd film not an actual movie release one. Sure sadly I have been mostly watching youtube/hulu/etc but figured you hear at least one thing about this but nope. Honestly curious if I would if if I was watching cable. Sadly...still a bit nervous going back to theaters since covid so yea, but tha ks for making the video and bringing the film to my attention.
Hoping it'll arrive on streaming somewhere soon!
Inspector sun looks amazing, so hyped to see it /srs
I don't blame you for the cabbage thing. I have had Boiled cabbage multiple times before and it was ok but alone it's not filling
This movie didn't make you cry
You made this movie cry
Funny how you briefly mention Inside Out 2 because your avatar reminds me a lot of Anxiety
Maybe if Anxiety and Joy did a fusion dance haha
While you watch it from the cinema, where do you got all those footage?
Mainly from the trailer and several clips that are available on TH-cam, some not in English
i don't know if it was showing and i missed it, or it just never made it to the US but i would have loved to watch this
Hopefully it will come to streaming soon!
You're going to get a lot of subscribers in no time.
I can’t figure out how to watch this movie in Canada 😭
Darn, hopefully it'll be available over there in some form soon!
I'm not British or European but I didn't know this existed.
How are they getting the money to put these films in the cinema lol??
I think (don't quote me on this) the distributors pay per screening, so i guess if they only buy a handful of screenings per cinema the budget for a movies release can be smaller.
