    start with a single note draw on the 3rd, then tongue block on 3rd draw which lets the 2 & 4 come through as a chord. Then its a fast pucker "dah da dah da dah" draw on the 2 & 3.
    Cain just keep on trying & it will happen, there is no right or wrong to all of this . Cheers Paul

    Thanks 4 the important explanation Paul. That's big of you to help us struggling Harp players out. I love Sonny's chugging style & am working everyday to get it down, here in Orlando, FL. cheers, Josh Holliday

    Hi Stephen
    I live in London ... you use both 2 & 3 hole draw notes.Use the 3rd hole (single note) & draw in , then put the tongue over the 2nd & 3rd hole note (this is called Tongue blocking) draw in again ( there is a chick-a-chick-a precussion style on the second hole note) & finish on a 2nd hole draw note

    Hi Paul
    justw anted to say how much these videos are appreciated. It's great to see amaster at work. One question for you - when you say "the tongue goes over the two", what holes are being played at that point? Is the tongue covering hole number 2 or the two holes 2 and 3 to leave a 1-4 draw octave? Any chance of tabbing it out to make it clearer?
    all the best
    andy

    Thanks a lot for slowing down this rhythm for us Hoever, can you give any guidelines on what you do from the last 2 draw on? Feels like you alternate doublestops modified through harmonics and some kind of stress similar to chugging on uptempo... Can you get this thing straight? Thanks, Paul, superb performance in Hondarribia ;-D

    @tenbarsteam Thanks for the great comments. I play this by covering 2 holes ( 3 & 4 ) which come out as an octave. You can then move up to the 3rd draw & 4 & 5 come out of an octave. Sorry I dont do tabs.
    All the best

    Haha no way that harmonica sounds amazing. I know nothing about harmonica appart from wen I hear it in a song on the radio with a catchy little beat it pulls me in. Well now I know where I can hear some quality harmonica so I'm subscribing 😉.

    Okay, I'm not quite getting it, sorry. I get draw 3, put the tongue over it, and you get 2 and 4? Then move over to tongue block hole 2? All is in the draw? What is smacking the reeds? When do you breath, heehee. Love your video, please respond, I really want to get this. Thanks.

    sorry paul i have to ask as i think i have got it but it's not sounding as well?? so i scoop bend the 3 and tongue block out holes 1 and 2 so it gives me a chord almost for a Millie second ? i can play the rest it's just the beginning i sound very flat if you get me like im blocking off the wrong hole [maybe i need some of the 4 draw and 1 draw?] sorry if you can help me out that would be magic, if you don't have the time right now thats ok i will wait. Brilliant harp control just brilliant

    It is just a flat difference with the A is a little deeper. I prefer the Bb as its a better pitch which suits my voice . All a matter of taste. kind regards Paul

  • @paullambmusic
    @paullambmusic  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi John this is not played with a F harp ... you need to play a Bflat harp in the cross position (which gives the key of F ) cheeers Paul

      My first note is the third draw, then as I say on the lesson ,tongue goes over 2 holes the 2nd hole & the 3rd hole , then it drops back down to the 2nd draw which is the root note in cross position bflat harp ..key of F

    whats the key of the harp?

  • @volyak1
    @volyak1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm struggling with this...beginning sounds like 3 draw...tongue block, then 4 draw, then 2 draw with tongue block. Is that it?

    • @paullambmusic
      @paullambmusic  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tim Cagle Hi Tim , its 3rd draw ..draw tongue block , pucker.. 2nd draw twice

    • @volyak1
      @volyak1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Paul Lamb thanks Paul. It sounds like after the 3 draw tongue block the 4 draw note plays before the 2 draw. Is that the case? My problem may be that I'm not understanding the tongue blocking correctly. Thanks for your advice and for the videos you have posted. Cheers.

    • @paullambmusic
      @paullambmusic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tim Cagle tongue block is actually covering over the hole with your tongue ..its a tricky one but just practise . Cheer Paul

    Hey Paul, wishin you & your mates in the U.K. a happy New Year !!!!!
    At 41 secs in your Video, you start with a 1/2 Bend on the 3, then slap your tongue against the 3 hole (while your still breathin in, right?) and the sound I get is kinda "Hi", where as yours sounds lower, I just don't get it? I'm on a Bflat harp/Hohner Big River Model.
    I really wish you would [Remake] the Video, only about 1/2 to 2/3 the speed of this one. I kinda feel bad askin as you gave us your time & help already but you'd save me from goin 'Looney' trying to duplicate your fantastic Sonny Licks. If not, I'll keep at until I get it!
    Cheers from Orlando, Florida, Jesse 'Hambone' Holliday (P.S. I made a visit to merry old England in the summer of 1977 & ate plates full of those "Bangers & Mash", loved um & a pint to wash um down with, ha) Eat some 4 me & imagine me gettin that Sonny Trick down good! See ya, Jesse, Jan. 1, 2016. Let's make 2016 "Rock n Roll"

    • @paullambmusic
      @paullambmusic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Josh Holliday Hi there yes you are correct ...you start with a 1/2 Bend on the 3, then breathing in still ,tongue block the second & third hole (maybe you are just on the third hole which will sound higher) .
      It does take a lot of practice but well worth it ... all the best from wet London town.
