It's so cool to see the younger generation getting into the Blues. I'm 62 yrs old and have been playing over 40 yrs and love jamming the Blues. I'm still learning myself.
In 1967, in a still rural fringe of Bethesda, MD, I was on a balcony maybe 4 floors up. I couldn't sleep, & there was a cool breeze & a deep quiet that extended into the surrounding forest 100 yards away. There were 3 towers to this apartment complex, around a simple courtyard, & I was smoking my cigarette in peace when a dark figure ambled out to the concrete center & sat down on one of the benches. I felt like we were close in our sharing of the night, when from that figure came a blues harmonica solo that absolutely blew me away. It lasted maybe 5 minutes, followed by maybe another 5 minutes of ambience. I was in an afterglow, & didn't want to ruin a perfect moment but calling out. Then that solitary figure ambled back the way it had come. I never did know who that was. That was 54 years ago, & I can still hear it, & feel it. This reminds me of that moment.
Man, i’ve been playing about 55 years myself, but I’ve never played like that… Back then when I first watched an old black fellow played before me, and I loved that sound I told him, he said here I’ve got an old harmonica, I’ll let you have… He said, here’s an easy song for you to play and learn it was called old brown jug, he played it I picked it up and I played it the first time, he said, oh you’re fooling me you’ve played before I was only 11 years old… I said no I’ve never played my life. He looked at me and he said young man that’s a gift from God.
Might be worth mentioning that she is playing an instrument that costs about $35 US. Nothing fancy, but in the right hands (lips, tongue, mouth…) the wooden comb produces such a sweet and rich tone. Amazing vibrato! Mahalo for sharing… 😎🎶🤙
Hey, Tim. I bought myself 3 Fender Blues Deluxe harps and they sound pretty good, especially for $12.99 apiece, but which model is Amanda playing here and what key?
Amanda you are incredible. I'm 77 and have always owned a harmonica. As a traveling sales rep I spent many hours on the road and basically just breathed through my harmonica. I discovered you on line recently. St. James infirmary and The Way-Blues solo and others literally brought tears to my eyes. You have totally inspired me. I wrote down the score from St. James Infirmary and I will learn to play it first. I am very happy for you. You have a Blessed future in front of you. Thank you so much. Sincerely, your very inspired student, emac
Son, you have a lot to learn. All I learned to do with my harmonica, I can either blow in or out. Now I am learning how to blow a note. One step at a time. No rush. By 90, I hope...
Can't get enough of it. Makes me think of the old days on the river, camp fire, fire coffee, just complete sanity.. relaxation, the way the body is suppose to feel? Full of energy.. thank you girl for sharing your talent.. my family and friends enjoy, embrace it!! It's that damn good baby girl .

Awesome! Beautiful, soulful ... and I am thrilled that a young woman is the musician making that mouth organ sing the blues. Keep up the great work Amanda - you are gonna shine as a Harmonica Star!
I'm speechless. This lady has such fluidity on that harp & she seems to know those blues like the back of her hand! Great blues song Amanda Ventura!! I wish you were playing around my city 'cause I'd like to play blues on my electric Bass to what you're doing there!! Good job!!

There are thousands of talented harp players out there. IMHO your assessment is overstated. Just sayin'.
@@MrSpanky2001 she makes it sound easy, but what she’s playing is very technical. Her bending accuracy and intonation throughout is stellar.

And then everyone clapped
I'am in the exactly same situation😀. My 6 years old son and I are fans too now❤
So good to see a young woman playing with such grace.

The greatest harmonica player ever and I’m from the Mississippi delta. No one has ever done it like Amanda Ventura
THIS. This is the power of the Blues: saying so much, yet playing only what really needs to be there. Well done!
Wow, to play like that - the music comes from her soul. An amazing God-given talent that CANNOT be faked. Keep playin'
