What day length is needed to initiate flowering?

Violas seem to bloom at any daylength. However, daylength and temperature together do affect overall plant growth. Plants seem to need at least 10 1/2 to 11 hours of day length for active growth. Seeds sown in very short days will germinate, but plants will be very slow to grow until days get long enough. Short days and cold temps will result in short plants. Longer days and warmer temperatures will result in longer stems. Plants will begin to bloom 8 to 10 weeks after sowing, if days are more than 10 1/2 hours long. High temperatures will cause plants to stop blooming, but they will resume blooming when temps drop again.

I’ve purchased the frizzle sizzle and natures antique seeds. Do the viola seeds require darkness during the germination process?

Thank you for asking! They do not require darkness during the germination process. Happy growing!

a bit out of subject but I was wondering if you put insect netting/screen on the sides of your tunnel? If yes, does it makes the ventilation more difficult? Thank you again for your help!
