There is vested group of economists like Dr.Raghuram R, Dr.Arvind S. , Dr K. Basu , J.Dreeze who will swear repeatedly that India is in bad hands & has little future left... Others like Dr. Shamika R. Dr.Veermani, Dr.Krishnan S. are all clear that significant improvements based in foundationally engineered action has emerged. The latter back up their claims based on hard empirical data. They are crystal clear that the future is absolutely promising..We need arguments based on ground facts and data. Not the ideologically biased innuendo that the former group of experts throws at us all the time. Thank you panelists.

In view of stagnant growth of poor Indian children I think midday meal is a bonus.I do not care if that is welfare.

Feeding children is the least state can do. Medical and education should be more aggressive.

Dr AR has clearly stated the negative impact of stalk/ stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana. Healthcare Cost associated with the burning the stalk/ stubble is huge

The stalk can be cut, mulched and converted to organic nutrients through composting; these in turn can be used to increase productivity in farming
Punjab Sikhs have stated that they will burn the stalk even if government gives them money to cut it. They are deliberately trying to poison the environment because they want Khalistan.

Most of the economists and financial experts see Pension as a huge expense of Govt. The major wasteful expenditures like security for ministers, building statues but not maintaining existing statues, election rallies etc. A few pensioners get very high pensions and perks continue like medical, travel etc. There are no pension for private/unorganized sectors. As a common man I would like to inform you that while in employment itself is extremely difficult to have a decent standard of living.
1) Wasteful expenditures to be curtailed.
2) All retired person should be paid pension rationally according to family income and price index.
Agree with Dr Ranganathan Sir, There is nothing called Freebee, someone has to pay for it.
You give to the poor, no issue, but even rich are taking advantage of freebies
85% are poor and only 5% are taking advantage. So this issue is 5%. So we can't ignore welfare schemes.

Dear panelists, if only PM and BJP did not play sectarian politics with ulterior motives and hidden agendas, the MSP reforms could have got wider acceptance and govt would have stood a far better chance to reform the laws. There is huge credibility gap with Modi and BJP across the country as they are never transparent and then people will fall into prey easily to vested interests like Congress dynasty. Modi and BJP say something and many times act exactly opposite to that for their own vested interests such as religion, caste, culture, language etc. The moral is that never mix religion or any other vested interests with politics.
Old pension scheme, bjp has bitten the bullet too. So why critical of it ? BTW the baap of all of that is 15L and farmers income doubling . Why no body discusses that anymore.
BJP is also indulged in freebies politics as it has two bad choices loose power to Congress and let the country ruin or offer freebies to keep the power that even with retard forces it is able to deliver some long term prospects for the country.

Almost everything , ie basic amenities is free in communist China and see how fast they advanced. They have an advantage of better and more varied climate. Yes, china can move to use huge segments of the population as construction slaves.Welfare in India is more important than most middle class Indians realize. Health, nutrient and education is the bottom line for human dignity. Advanced clean water delivery ad trash collection solutions could be a priority moving foward.

Freebies is not the biggest problem we have right now, it is corruption and inequality but nobody talks about it. Politicians, govt officials and some contractors are looting 70 percent of nation's wealth but nobody is bothered.

Surplus grain from storage capacity distributed to public, people can use saved money to diversify their food basket. It'll help in addressing malnutrition.
