  • I need to learn how to pick up my 700lb Harley Davidson if I drop her. I am trying 2 techniques, the first is the common Butt lift, the other is the Meye technique. Check them out, would highly recommend you practice them both.

Hi, I commented on Cheyleesi's channel trying to teach Yanks English, You commented to my comment and asked was I English. I said I would check your channel out and you said I should say Hi, so Hi. What an intro! and where better to start than the start.
No, I'm Scots but lived in Northern Ireland 56 years so I'm ok with both. I ride a Harley or I guess I should say, a 2010 RK and a 2015 48 both bought new. I also ride an 07 Ducati Hypermotard 1100S (still a hooligan) also bought new along with a few classic bike's most young people are not interested in.
When I buy a bike it tends to end up a prisoner. I do all my own work and restore them.
Well done in picking up your bike, they are heavy, I hope the last time you picked it up in the vid will be the last you need to. The last time I dropped a bike was 1979 until last May, I had crawl from under it (the 48) and lift it out of a ditch.
I've subscribed and will check out more of your vids, I see you're channel is new so I wish you luck with it. I'm sure you watch Username Kate and Itchy Boots.

Hi Nightser, thanks for joining the channel. Our daughter is studying at Uni in Scotland and we are planning on touring there when the virus allows - The coastal road. We have family in South Africa that restore classic bikes, currently building the old ABC bikes from 1919-1923 - amazing machines. I have unfortunately used the bike pickup far too often for my liking, always at slow speed (you will see in the videos).
I have watched Itchy Boots, what an adventure.

@@BunnyKingHogs You will enjoy the roads in Scotland I visit frequently especially north, west and rural, I'm from Bannockburn, they have great surfaces and many are elevated and you can see for miles. This is not meant as flattery but no way do you look old enough to have a daughter at uni but hey, how cool is it for her "my mum rides a Harley"
Yeah the ABC's are a strange article and fairly rare, my earliest is 1935 ex Luftwaffe NSU 500 OSL in original unrestored condition the way I like them with a few 30's 50's and 60's bikes some fairly iconic, i.e, Vincent Comet, 69 Bonnie, 53 T'bird (Marlon Brando) then bikes I had back in the day, GT750J, H2 750, R75/5, Laverda 750SF, XS11, CBX1000Z, and a few more, you can pretty much tell bikes are pretty much my life.

I've always used the technique you're calling the "Bum Technique". Was surprised at how easy it was to lift my nearly 1,000lb 2017 RoadGlide Ultra up from it's side. Seems my bike lays further over too. Great job!!

    • @BunnyKingHogs
      @BunnyKingHogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I think I find the other technique easier, maybe it has something to do with the bars with more leverage. You will see in my videos, sadly I have used it quite a bit! The crash bars help, to get it to that position is relatively easy, it's the lifting bit that is the hard bit.

Just found your channel, started with you getting your bike's rear spoke problem fixed in Holland. As with any new channel I find, I like to start at the beginning because it great to see a channel (and person) grow. I have to say that seeing the Meye technique was really interesting because, 1. I didn't know this technique had a name, and 2. You made it look really easy to do!! I've used the bum technique every time I've had to pick my Road King Special (or former Street Glide Special), which thankfully wasn't to often. Looking forward to watching your adventures!!

My four requirements for a first bike.
You can afford the bike, the gear and the insurance.
You have to be able to get a foot on the ground.
You have to be able to pick it up.
You have to keep it in safe running condition.
I am disappointed you were riding for a year before you learned how. That was unsafe.
Brian, husbands/wizards ought to know better!
What did you expect, that if she dropped it, men would just rain from the sky to help her?
    Oh.
    Yeah.
I guess that would work for her.

appreciate the comments Dex. at the time of recording, both of us had only just passed our test so it hadnt been a year, maybe a week or 2 at most. As with most things she was determined to learn how to pick up the bike on her own and not rely on me to do it for her, so we learnt. Got to start somewhere. Thanks for watching

Without the crash bars it would be very difficult. Even Superman would have a hard time picking up a wet bike without crash bars. Great job though.
