- #DragonBallSuper does have its quirks from time to time, but this particular moment in the Dragon Ball Super manga changes a HUGE part of #DragonBallZ which made people very confused. When it comes to the Goku vs Uub arc in Dragon Ball Z and the End of Z section, Super makes that WHOLE mini saga much better. A 25 year problem fixed! Let's discuss why this retcon is probably of the best in #DragonBall and its entire history.

@@Kaymations I like it, it gives Uub a reason to be relevant instead of getting powercreeped into oblivion by the introduction of GoDs and Super Saiyan Blue and Ultra Instinct.
Uub has already done more in Super than the entirety of GT

@@bluebandit9715 The only thing GT Uub has done more than Super Uub is have more screen time thats literally it. Uub in Super had less screen time and contributed to saving the entire Universe at the same time showing his potiental which was foreshadowed in chapter 49 and solidified in chapter 66.
I really like the way they had introduced Uub,instead of usually saying something like "Oh there's a boy out there blah blah" they actually made him a factor for Goku being able to defeat Moro,which is a great way to insert him into the story,by actually making him somewhat important to the arc.
I mean they did that part in a previous arc of the manga
It also is a neat feature of the Galactic Prisoners Saga that they have Buu fight Moro in the middle and have Uub be key to defeating Moro in the end.
Buu and subsequently Grand Supreme Kai being involved in the Moro arc is quite a surprise but a welcome one.

This actually makes a surprising amount of sense, especially considering one fact about Uub that's been staring us in the face since his introduction: his hair, he has the same style of hair that all of the Supreme Kais have.

@@TonyMishima92 That's fair, to be honest, I'm not too sure myself where the idea that Saiyans mature faster come from myself, but it's one of the more widely accepted things about them. Maybe Vegeta or Raditz mentioned it once? I doubt Masako would use it seriously if it originated from the Fandom.

Yeah. That was one of my biggest issues early on in Super.
Videl and Gohan are clearly older at the beginning of Super, what with them being married and Pan on the way inside Videl... but Goten and Trunks haven't even aged a day and still haven't by the time we get to the Broly movie?
I sincerely doubt Bulma is wishing them younger along with herself too.

That would certainly be chaotic, considering he would not only be able to absorb abilities, but Personality traits from the people he absorbs as well. It would have gotten out of hand.
Also, we know his ability to absorb isn’t limited by power. Buuccolo was able to absorb Mystic Gohan despite being way weaker. There is nothing to prevent Buu from absorbing Hit and/or Jiren and using their power to just clean house

While I do have a fondness for what happened afterwards in hindsight the whole "everything that happened before was because of aliens!" twist was a bit of a copout and began the severe powercreep trend that led to many of the original cast going AWOL.

I remember seeing all the fan manga where Majuub releases his true majin form, and the old evil Buu takes control. But now, far into the future (be it GT reimagine or new fan stories), I would love to see the Grand Supreme Kai tapped into. Being a human with effectively God and Satan in a way.
Uub is going to be a gray Jedi confirmed.
Easiest way I can think of to have buu in the TOP and eliminated is have Buu be the one who frost traps in Roshi’s mafuba instead of vegeta. They could’ve made out that the mafuba pulls every essence of buu from arena, not just his primary form.
But instead of what happened with vegeta, Roshi doesn’t save buu before he’s eliminated.
Also you can have the same gag about falling asleep one they release Buu from the bottle in the stands.
That's a good idea. Another one could have been to have Jiren eliminate him similarly to how he did with Maji Kajo in the anime since MK was a very similar being to MB (which infuriates me even more). They should have left him in, if they wanted Freeza they could have replaced someone else like Krillin.

Yeah it's true that Tien was probably the best option with the benefit of hindsight, but I like Tien more and he really was mistreated and misused in Super, Krillin gets all the attention just because he's Goku's best friend and he's more marketable let's be real.
@@mds_516 Yeah idk why Tien gets shafted all the time, as well as Yamcha even though they were very prominent in Early Dragonball (i am doing a franchise rewatch starting with the original and working my way up the list, probably ending with Super since that is the only series i don't fully have yet

Well you could argue they at some point decided to try and fix their ages, but in a gag they either made themselves *TOO* old by not wishing it properly, or realized how old they actually are and decided to use the Black Star balls because they already messed up and used the normal ones.

There's also the fact that dende told Goku to train him. Because he is afraid of what would happen to UuB if his powers develop on their own unguided. the kid could accidentally blow up the planet so Goku's also protecting the planet by training uub, as well as dende was worried about would he be evil?

It makes me think about what if Uub became an apprentice of or even be the next Supreme Kai himself. He actually fits into being G.O.D. but he also wouldn’t have the will to be one (unless a memory wipe perhaps)

My problem with Uub is the same problem with Gohan. He could've been a great character if Goku didn't come back and do the work himself.
Also just make Uub and Pan friends that fight side by side like a Goku and Krillen/vegeta rivalry and friendship

@DP 91 Toriyama really isn't one to cave into fan demands, he may have towed the line with his editors, but some how I think Toriyama is satisfied with 'Super' Goku.
I really think Piccolo would be the best choice for the next God of Destruction, would be interesting to see that.
The fandom and the writers REALLY want Vegeta to be that...but it doesn't sit well with his character.

I think Frieza is the best Destruction candidate he already fits all the roles of being a destroyer and he’s already a madly powerful fighter who can be made even stronger with his potential. Plus it would be a good way to have the Z fighters properly challenge a destroyer. Cause Beerus seems to close to the earth to have any quarrel with the Z fighters.
@@spencertamv3930 But gods of destruction aren't supposed to be as unhinged as Frieza tends to be. They destroy to make room for new creations, where I think Frieza would destroy things exclusively for his own benefit.

This is the same level of retcon as King Cold.
Frieza was touted as THE emperor of the universe for most of early Z. Then we realize that he hadn’t even been in power for more than 30 years (give or take) at the tome of his death and that he had a father who was pretty much as frightening as him and that he comes from a race of beings that can potentially be that way. It really change the whole lore of universe 7 imo.
The nice thing about this retcon though, is that instead of changing the past, it changes the future. This feels more like creating a new timeline than it does changing an old one. Same impact as king cold but it only gives us more to work with. I love it.
what if Uub succeeds Beerus as a god of destruction
That would actually be interesting to see happen. I actually wanna see that happen, but I doubt that we will ever see them going that way, at least for now.

That's what I was thinking, that way beerus isn't immediately replaced or anything and his good heart will let him only do the necesary destruction on those which are evil allowing him to greatly improve the universe

@@fangiscool1 remember what happened when Goku told Gohan to bounce it back to Vegeta when Krillin missed the shot.he said evil can’t bounce it back. Kid Buu stopped it and bounced it right back. Neither Vegeta or Freiza was capable of doing it

All the more reason I really want them to have a show that replaces GT and actually allows Uub to become the incredible fighter we all want him to be.
I hope they change the end of Z, cause i don't want the exact same thing again. Like Beerus and Whis maybe being there, Bulma still being young because she's selfish and likes to waste Dragon Ball wishes on young age, Uub being a lot stronger in the fight because God Ki, stuff like that.
Honestly with Super, they have improved on the potential of Pan and Uub sooooo much! I personally think that Pan might have the same or near the same level of potential as Broly.

So I think they all trained with each other with Goku as their master.
The idea of Uub having god ki perfectly explains WHY being the reincarnation of Buu is so important, and may offer another reason why he was reincarnated on Earth.
It's obviously not stated outright, but what if Yemma put him there because he knew Goku and Vegeta also had god ki? What if he couldn't decouple the god ki from Buu's soul? It's interesting to think about. I think the revelation that Uub has god ki is an excellent way to explain his presence and potential.
After the Granola Arc We have to be at the end of Z
I feel like they could potentially put in an arc or two, considering at this point, I don’t know how they could fully lead into EoZ, but you never know.
I was hoping that the Moro arc was going to lead to the end of Z. -_-' would have been a great transition, imo. It feels like they have been milking this between time (Buu and end of Z) for way too long and it's time to move on, already.

Was Goku leaving to train Uub that bad, I wouldn’t want to be around chichi, and he can teleport to see Pan whenever, as well as his kids are all full grown adults, that can fly far faster than light. Also Uub lives in a place with a small amounting food, and water, does anyone see Goku lasting in a place, where his lunch is enough to feed the entire village for a week. He probably just spent a lot of time at the hyperbolic time chamber, like gt shown us, his family can already go there whenever, so it works.
I'm in the minority but I could careless about the Uub retcon. Also I feel people are setting themselves for disappointment with Uub with all these grandiose ideas & theories. Nothing about Super has led me to believe that anyone but Goku can truly get any major shine. Yeah other characters have their moments but often it's usually followed up with a fall off the cliff moment. Then the series goes back to focusing on Goku. I don't want to sound like I'm hating on Uub because I'm open to him having turning out to be a great character. But as of right now in Super, anyone not Goku, Broly, & maybe Frieza have been cucked.
Your concerns are 100% warranted and justified. So many set up moments for characters that have amounted to little to nothing more than an extra ring out or two in the TOP or something frivolous. Gohan "rediscovering his potential" just to get a temporary boost in the TOP was a joke. Same with skinny Buu. And future trunks having God ki, maybe? Idk, again, they kinda just set it up and forgot about it. Goku using hakai? Once and done. Mafuba? Once and done. Vegeta instant transmission? One and done. Mastered SSB? One and done. I
t's getting really hard to invest emotionally in anything they try to hype when literally every support character that was ever hyped in super led to nothing but a fleeting high.
If Pan does come along to visit her grandfather, she and Uub would make a great training partners (and possibly lovers if grown).
So he was using god ki in GT. So that explains why he was able to half way keep up

As someone who has never seen Super and only knows the events of the Buu Saga because of the video games, I was completely lost.
While I generally hate retcons, if they correct and improve on something, I'm fine with them.

My other comment wasn't to dismiss you but rather just... I think you are putting more care into it than they did. Your love of the series is so genuine and you want it to flesh itself out. Be what it should and can be. Instead of.. well what the creator often does these days.
Buu can train Uub. Remember he got a lot better but we never really saw his max strength.
On the whole remembering point: MasakoX isnt even wrong. Hell, The baseball episode in Super made a joke but it's kinda proven that not even Gohan remembers everything completely from a kid. When Yamcha was in his Classic Post, Gohan got a sense of bitterness about it while Krillin and Piccolo were like "Yuuuup....just like old, messed up times."
Poor guy probably remembers the worst of many battles, but not all the small ones or chased ones until someone jogs his memory.
Seeing uub here is awesome,he is one of my favourite characters,hopefully he would not be sidelined.

We have Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku training kid Uub at End Of Z due to Super so buffs are needed
I also think in regards to Uub was that Goku knew exactly where he was the entire time and had been waiting for him to turn up the moment he made that wish. Why? Because he already knew precisely what he could do from their battle and that if Uub awakened that potential? He would be a great rival. I also think it hawkens back to the beginning of the series when Grandpa Gohan had taken him up as a complete stranger. Now Goku was simply doing what Gohan had done by adopting. A slight nod to the beginning.
I do really like what’s going on however.
So ,when Uub fuses with Buu, do you think Buu and Gand Suprime Kai will will live in his head like Piccolo, Nail and Kami?
6:00 Aren't the vast majority of Dragon Ball characters already "characters of color", ie "not Caucasian/white"? Gohan, Chichi, Master Roshi, Krillin, Tenshinhan, Chaotuz, Yamcha, Yajirobe, they're all some flavor of Asian. And given his origin, Goku (and thus Vegita) likely passes for Asian as well. DBZ Earth has shown a racial diversity consistent with our own Earth, so Bulma, Dr. Briefs, Android 18, Android 17 and Mr. Satan are likely meant to be white/Caucasian, but they're technically in the minority.
I do agree that it's good to get some more ethnic diversity with Uub, as well as giving us a human who could potentially be a match for the more powerful DB characters. I just think that "character/person of color" is a very Western-centric term that is meaningless on a global scale. There about as many black people as white people in the world, and many more Asian or Middle Eastern people than either.
Consistent with our own world? Bruh, the DBZ Earth literally has a dog as their King.
Buu is a perfectly balanced fighter with no exploits

Potential missed point. Uub having divine ki leaves open a possible additional motive. God ki can be volatile, and it's possible that Uub could one day unleash it without meaning to, causing untold destruction. Goku is then the only one qualified to train him so that doesn't happen. Mind you that wouldn't be Goku's motivation, but it would (for instance) keep Beerus from destroying him to prevent the wild card factor running around. Could also explain why Whis and Beerus aren't around: They don't want to accidentally set off the tyke timebomb.
Mind you god ki has so far only been dangerous to the user so this doesn't necessarily hold up: it's just a thought to a way it could be taken.
People really downplay how much potiential God ki Uub could have for the future

I'm happy TOyotaro brought back the Dai Kaioshin since he's gone, does that mean that "Shin" is the newest Dai Kaioshin or is he still the Eastern Kaioshin?! Those are things about the world I would love to know.
I did love all the call backs Toyotaro made, he's a big Dragon Ball fan. The Zarbon species, the Magetta species, the bear thing possibly being Botamo's species, the hint that maybe Ginyu learned the change technique in Yardrat.... redeeming Yamcha?! WOW!!

Now that you brought it up, I didn't care for Uub for the most part, but now I'd like to see him just go off and become a destroyer or something like that. Or just something in the world of gods and living out there. Though, I never bought his character from the beginning and really didn't care for the conclusion to the Buu arc. But really, it's just annoying to add more fighters when they barely, if ever, utilize the ones they already have, especially the kids, like Goten, Trunks, Pan, etc... Though, if nothing else, this is probably the best way to handle Uub's reintroduction to the story.

Uub role in the Moro Arc has really enhanced the ending of z. Uub really is representive of Dragonball next generation of fighters with tons of untapped potential and character development. I look forward to what the future has in store for Uub.
with uub not remembering the grand supreme kai its the equivalent of in back to the future of george and lorraine not remembering marty from 30 years before when he was just a guy who was around during school for a week. most people wouldnt remember someone they had only interacted with for a week. the name may stick with them but the person and how he looks would fade over time
Only retcon that might be as good that I can think of is Dr. Gero. Cell is a favorite villain for myself and many others, and Dr. Gero being from the Red Ribbon army and therefore having a vendetta against Goku & co. gives a good reason as to why he would make Cell at all, let alone who he decided to take genetic material from. That said, this Uub retcon is absolutely delicious, and if people said this is better than what I mentioned I wouldn't fault them. It's very enjoyable.
Goku and Piccolo being aliens was a retcon.
Been thinking up an alternate GT era with a different main character. It's not Goku, or Bulla, or Pan, or even Vegeta, but here's Bulla story:
Bulla was often up to mischief, like the time she hacked West City's water reclamation department and demanded to be declared mayor. She's incorrigible. Vegeta would have disciplined her more if she had shown any signs of strength, but since brains were her thing, Vegeta left her in Bulma's care more often. While discussing her with MC, MC then asks if Bulla was born with a tail. Vegeta assumed Whis took the courtesy of removing it. MC has a different explanation, but doesn't want to say it because Vegeta won't like it. What if she has NO Saiyan DNA?
While the literal sparks are flying, Bulla bursts in with her particle accelerator ray and insists she's Vegeta's daughter. She soaked his toothbrush and sequenced him when she was six. She had tried setting the gravity chamber to 2G multiple times and hadn't gotten stronger, and had even tried asking Shenron, who claimed that a more powerful being than him was blocking her wish to get her Saiyan power. MC, feeling guilty, suggests they ask Baba, who successfully finds the problem. Whis intervened.
There's more, if you want it.
Uub should be the next main guy. THAT is the angle that makes sense for his character. Goku being excited about the prospect of training him...Goku...beint THAT excited? That he had to drop everything else? That just can't be brushed off as something small.

That's why they missed a major mark with the TOP. If anything, he should have awaken just before they left and really want to go, so he attaches himself to either Krillin or Piccolo and absorb them, but allow that person to remain himself.
It would fit to have it be Krillin... but then making it Piccolo would have been best because it would have given everybody that freak out moment seeing Namek Buu! It would also add a bit more tension between he and Gohan to work up go working a lot better.
This would allow Piccolo and maybe others to remain longer. I can even see Namek Buu taking stand against a few others. Trio of Danger. The putty guy Jiren blew away and others.
Uub is fertile ground for retcon, but please don't turn him into another SIDE CHARACTER....Let my boy shine!!!! Toriyama, Toyotaro I'm looking at you👀

@@MasakoX I think the biggest reason for everyone having high hopes for Uub is ALSO tied to the letdown that is GOHAN. I guess he had Post-Cell exhaustion.....😂

This is a good video, but I don’t think introducing Uub with God ki was a retcon, it didn’t contradict any previously established statements in Dragon Ball

There is one fact that we’re reluctant to look at. Either Dragon Ball will have to end with the end of goku, or dragon ball will continue with a future generation, and have goku’s legend and legacy be a motivator for the future defenders. Seriously, how many people can pull off a perfect goku voice? Goku’s story would have to end at some point, at least as the star of the show. A great example to pull this off is dragon ball gt: a hero’s legacy. Goku Jr wants to be like Goku, strong and brave, but at the same time he doubts himself, and has to overcome his obstacles and fears along the way to collect the dragon ball, eventually earning his strength by believing in himself, standing up for what’s right, and facing his fears head on. Then, whenever they have a dragon ball or Summon Shenron, Goku’s spirit is there alongside them, connected to the dragon balls, perhaps with a more mystical voice like Shenron. GT may not be everyone’s favorite, but we have to admit the ending is how goku’s story should end, where it began, with the 4 star ball, and Shenron leaving earth for a while because they’ve become over reliant on the dragon balls to fix every problem. Even Totally not mark likes a hero’s legacy, and loves the ending for gt, and we know what he thinks about gt as a series

@@ssjgotenks2009 they’ll milk it out as long as they can, but they can’t keep getting new voice actors for goku and vegeta forever. On top of that, people will start to get tired of those two being the stars, it’s heading that way now. Gt addressed it at the end with a new generation of heroes, and Super is a dressing it subtly with uub and tien (tien forming his own dojo) and even tried bringing it up earlier with gohan vs cell, due to goku realizing his own mortality from the heart virus
