I personally love the shuffle tactic and Dutch style defence the most. However, I have been punished severely while using the shuffle. Against fast kickers, they will kick and follow up with lead leg or jab cross. How do I prevent that from happening?

When you shuffle left, use the left hook (check hook) that will throw their balance off when coming back into stance after the kick and their jab cross combo will be messed up. Instead of shuffling and then throwing the right hand, shuffle and throw the left check hook together, then you can throw your own right roundhouse or right knee.

@@abdmoe6972 You are most welcome. I got beaten up by an experienced SP many times, so I asked the internet for help. You can take a look at this Q/A in StackExc if you are interested in knowing more on how to fight a SP kicker. martialarts.stackexchange.com/questions/8660/how-to-counter-a-powerful-left-roundhouse-kick-from-a-southpaw-in-mt

I personally like to neutralize the southpaw advantage by clinching and using my well-developed clinch game to somewhat negate the tricky angles a southpaw comes from. That aside, I guess basic fundamental defense as you close the distance for a clinch if that’s your style

I just realize that my last fight was with southpaw😂😂 i was wondering that something was off he really used those stragedies. If i just would know how to deal with southpaw it would be much better fight for me.

why everyone shows how to defeat a southpaw and no one says anything about how to fight as a southpaw. also some people seem to have great deal of respect to UFC fighters and athletes in general. but to me you are just a guy on an youtube that is all. however you did show me an effective way to block a kick which I can use against right kick just like you can use it against a left kick. also I do have an answer to some of those blocks you showed but in any case I know what orthodox fighter might do so thanks for that.

Dont forget a teep. A strong southpaw will kill your arms without a block with shins.

You are a further distance away from your opponent. It's lovely for getting in, landing , and circling off to your opponents weak side

I wouldn't say it is an advantage but it changes a few things because of human anatomy. Southpaw left kick can land clean on a liver, but the same thing can be said about orthodox lead hook.
Overall I would say it is a trade off, the only "proper" advantage can be in familarity fighting an southpaw opponent. Southpaws are used to sparring orthodox fighters, but not the other way around. Especially in the west, yet in Asia it is quite common to be a southpaw for some weird reason.
I am a southpaw myself even though I am actually a right hand dominant.
