Risk of Rain 2 is, in terms of actual balancing between items, actually quite good to be honest at the moment. Like even with some of the items that I always pick up because they're so good, depending on how the run goes I've had times where it was actually the smart thing to scrap, and that decision often saved the run. Honestly many of the supposedly bad or underrated items have. I don't think, realistically, there's a run where RNG screwed me over nowadays because you do tend to have a lot of control now.
5:06 If it was the way you described, it would be BROKEN because the first would give the most, the second would give barely anything, but after that the teddys would slowly ramp up in how much they give and you would reach 100% at only 15 teddys. You would 52.7% on 10 teddys so it wouldn't even be much worse than the current itteration at that number. So in more normal runs, it would be worse BUT if you ever got a teddy printer, the way you described it in the old video would be BUUUUSTED. I also would've liked for you to elaborate on why people overrated healing because I still huuuugely value healing because one shot protection exists. If I can get bonkers healing and don't just stand still to be instantly hit by multiple things in a short window of time, then healing makes me invincible!
I think a lot of people play the game in the context of Eclipse 8, one loop, kill Mithrix. In that situation you want, like, a bit of healing or regen but you don't need that much and would rather have damage and mobility. If you're playing the game to do multiple loops then imo healing is pretty good for the reason you mentioned. Long run = more chances to make mistakes = fast recovery from those mistakes is very good. Kinda the same reason contemporary players rate barrier items very low. Everyone is playing E8 Mithrix so, like, you never get to the point where barrier is good.
@@lunafoxfire Saying that everyone plays E8 Mythrix is crazy imo. Firstly, your argument is soiund regarding E8 Mythrix runs. But saying that a lot of people play it like that and at the end of your comment even saying everyone is playing like that is craaaaazy to me. I am someone who likes to tryhard and do challenges in the games he plays. But most people are not. Not even close. I would argue that less than 0.1% of the players that bought and played this game will ever play E8. A lot of them just don't play anymore, and the VAST MAJORITY of gamers just game a little bit in the evenings when they get home from work. So the vast majority doesn't take the time to get really good at one game like RoR2. But just play it casually from time to time. So again, good arguments for E8 Mythrix gameplay, but please keep in mind that only at teeny tiny minority plays like that. In every single game ever in existance, the vast majority are casual players that aren't very good at all.
@@ardynizunia9709 I agree I was just saying why content creators like Woolie overvalue certain things and undervalue others. I tend to ignore tierlists for this reason since every item has different value in different situations. I guess I shouldn't have said "everyone" since what I meant was more like "the community of hardcore players that tend to be the ones making these tierlists"
i agree totally on the dios best friend part, but in a different way honestly, i find it kinda useless in situations because of the fact that if you died in the first place, then your run is technically over anyways, dios isnt really gonna help you deal another 60k damage to that magma worm that just killed you after you spent 10 minutes fighting it and running across the map to dodge it, the only use i see for it is if you mess up really badly and have a chance to live still, i think personally, dios should maybe get reworked in some way to make it actually technically useful, like you are revived and also get a +15% permanent damage boost or something, and a temporary +50% attack speed boost, just to technically make it on par with other reds, because truthfully, if a white item with a technically worse effect easily outclasses your red, then thats probably saying something
Another little time capsule moment that might be mentioned but ATM I'm still early in the vid, is that the healing debuff for above drizzle wasn't working at this time so healing was gigabuffed
called out for defaulting watching at 1.75 or 2x, punished for rewatching the watch at basically 4x, truely the anslaught of verbal noises, peak content

Woolie you’re great man but I wish you were more concise. I really like that about disputed origin, he doesn’t hit me with minutes of needless filler dialogue for every single segment of his videos
I can understand why you started hating on the crowdfunder. like you said, your choice of equipment mostly only mattered in the early game, in which case you wouldn't want to take the crowdfunder, while late game the downside isn't so much of an issue anymore and so crowdfunder is acceptable. however, the nature of equipment, where you can only hold one at any given time (ignoring mul-T), means that every time you find an equipment, you're comparing what you found to what you already have, and so your minimum requirements for what's "acceptable" gets more and more strict the longer the run gets. what's the likelihood that you reach late game, find a crowdfunder, and don't already have something that's more preferable, be that damage, mobility, or healing? so while the ranking over time goes from, say, F to C rank (as in, F rank stage 1, C rank 2nd loop), your minimum requirement for what to pick up/swap to goes from D rank to, say, B rank, at which point crowdfunder just doesn't meet the cut despite not really being bad by then.
watching this reminds me I have not seen a single atg drop in probably a month, idk if my rng is just bad but atg and ukulele are just rare as hell for me now
Concerning the ceremonial daggers, they just flat out dealt a much higher % damage at 1 stack and the + / stack was also higher. it was just busted Wake of vulture, if you killed multiple elites you'd only get the effect on the last elite, where as now you get the effects of all the elites combined

4:50 I think you need like 900+ for 99% block chance, and about 2000 for 99.999%. And I would assume ROR2 would round that to 100% since most games round up or down when reaching the 3rd or 4th decimal
To be fair with old leeching seed, when medkit and monster tooth only heal 10 in specific circumstances, and slug was affected by base healing rate, healing 1 rapidly on MUL-T is actually S+ The only reason leeching seed is really bad now is specifically because those other healing sources have become so good, leeching seed is just a victim of power creep. Also, damn, that 0.2 proc coefficient on artificer explains why I thought she was a challenge character. Slow projectiles, weird recharge mechanics, NO 2.0 skills, awful proc coefficient and healing.
God, I wish Teddy Bears worked like you said they did 4 years ago. While they would stack slower at the start, only getting over 50% block chance at 10 bears, they'd get over 100% block chance at just 15 bears thanks to the joys of exponentials.
Honestly the reason you were so down on the Clover is probably a combo of not knowing proc chaining was a thing but mostly the fact that Sticky Bombs were so good. Who needs to reroll your proc chances when you can eventually get Sticky Bomb to 100% proc chance anyway, and when you do it'll do like 5000% damage.
@Jaaaco 1.15^10 is 4. Not 4%. 4. Which is 400%. The formula I used is that the first stack is 0.15, which is 15%. Then every stack after multiplies by 1.15, which means adding 15% of what's already there. 0.15*1.15^9=0.52768, which is about 53% 0.15*1.15^14=1.06136, which is about 106% If you're going to try to correct people on their maths, it helps to at least understand place value and percentages :)
@Jaaaco You're right, I was needlessly aggro, I think you caught me in a bad mood. Sorry. I'm a little bit confused by what you mean by "I assumed 1.15 to be 15% for easier calculation." % literally just means "divide by 100." 15% = 15/100 = 0.15. 1.15 is the right thing to multiply by if you want to increase something by 15% of itself, but I think you got a little bit confused and forgot to start at the base value of 15% instead of 115%. Naturally, if the first bear gave you 115% block chance, bears would be an S+++ tier item. Then, because you started from a much higher block chance your answer ended up being much greater than 1. I think you assumed that you still needed to divide by 100, when really you had already done that by working with 1.15s instead of 115s. Thus you arrived at the rather unusual conclusion that if bears stacked exponentially, 10 bears would block less than a third as often as just one bear. As for how 4 years ago Woolie thought bears worked, I think there are two possible conclusions we could draw from his words. He says: "You get 15% flat, and then it increases that number by 15%, so, 15% times 1.15." He could either mean that it stacks exponentially as I assumed, or he could mean that it just increases by 15% of 15% for each stack after the first, so every future teddy bear would just add a flat 2.25% to the first teddy bear's 15% block chance. This would definitely stack up a lot slower than the exponential way, but would also eventually reach 100% block chance, so it's still not really feasible for a white item in Risk of Rain 2 to work that way. Anyway, this is probably way too much thought to put into one mans words from 4 years ago that turned out to be wrong anyway. I just wanted to point out just how nutty exponential growth is, even when it's a "small" amount like 15% each time.
Thing about the old kjaros also. The firestorm moved if your proc’d it so let’s say you got it off a mass of sticky bombs…. Well that 1000% damage flame just went off target because it moved away with its tiny AOE.
Headset was also a set explosion radius, and the damage scaled with speed not fall distance, seeing as you fall at a set speed when using it that didn't help

Cant watch Woolies vids in 1.75x because he already speaks in 1.75x

If it was the way you described, it would be BROKEN because the first would give the most, the second would give barely anything, but after that the teddys would slowly ramp up in how much they give and you would reach 100% at only 15 teddys.

Saying that everyone plays E8 Mythrix is crazy imo.

Gotcha 👍
Man i remember the first time i managed to loop the nostalgia
i agree totally on the dios best friend part, but in a different way honestly, i find it kinda useless in situations because of the fact that if you died in the first place, then your run is technically over anyways, dios isnt really gonna help you deal another 60k damage to that magma worm that just killed you after you spent 10 minutes fighting it and running across the map to dodge it, the only use i see for it is if you mess up really badly and have a chance to live still, i think personally, dios should maybe get reworked in some way to make it actually technically useful, like you are revived and also get a +15% permanent damage boost or something, and a temporary +50% attack speed boost, just to technically make it on par with other reds, because truthfully, if a white item with a technically worse effect easily outclasses your red, then thats probably saying something
Wasn't rusty key like, scaling odds of an item with more keys though? So greens became solidly likely with a decentish drop for a red?
Thats only important in like full looping endless runs tho yeah
you needed like 30 keys for good odds of green and sometimes red. usually it was white
Hey Woolie, idk if you heard but Warframe has a roguelite mode now that you can play immediately upon starting
The reaction to the clover tier cracked me up XD
34:49
The timing with the double jump in the background
i remember when sticky bombs were so amazing, then they got nerfed in the first big update lmao
thank you so freaking much for the knocking warning. It still scared me out of my mind.
"an hour and a half of risk of rain 2 periodically interrupted by fart noises"
Woolie you’re great man but I wish you were more concise. I really like that about disputed origin, he doesn’t hit me with minutes of needless filler dialogue for every single segment of his videos
normal woolie already feels like he talks at 1.25x speed hilariously
At 24 minutes and 10 seconds Woolie try’s to block a stone titan laser with the artificer ice wall 😂
I can understand why you started hating on the crowdfunder. like you said, your choice of equipment mostly only mattered in the early game, in which case you wouldn't want to take the crowdfunder, while late game the downside isn't so much of an issue anymore and so crowdfunder is acceptable. however, the nature of equipment, where you can only hold one at any given time (ignoring mul-T), means that every time you find an equipment, you're comparing what you found to what you already have, and so your minimum requirements for what's "acceptable" gets more and more strict the longer the run gets. what's the likelihood that you reach late game, find a crowdfunder, and don't already have something that's more preferable, be that damage, mobility, or healing?
so while the ranking over time goes from, say, F to C rank (as in, F rank stage 1, C rank 2nd loop), your minimum requirement for what to pick up/swap to goes from D rank to, say, B rank, at which point crowdfunder just doesn't meet the cut despite not really being bad by then.
watching this reminds me I have not seen a single atg drop in probably a month, idk if my rng is just bad but atg and ukulele are just rare as hell for me now
Concerning the ceremonial daggers, they just flat out dealt a much higher % damage at 1 stack and the + / stack was also higher. it was just busted
Wake of vulture, if you killed multiple elites you'd only get the effect on the last elite, where as now you get the effects of all the elites combined
Daggers pretty much autoplayed the game till 100 minutes
Lmao I love how it starts with a defense of high speed TH-cam videos! I watch everything at 2X so hearing that at 2X plus his faster audio was hilarious!
Artificeer is the Risk of Rain 2 character of all time. Artificeer does lots of burst damage, easily my favorite.
I read tje knocking inc and i still went for the fckn door.. had to rewatch to confirm it was the video.... waching woolie gets you hypnotized man i m tellin ya
The game should have had an epilepsy warning with old Gosoline explosions, especially if you had like 5 of those lol
Recently discovered that bison steak, infusion, psg and like some other items are actually good and that osp doesn't matter anymore because shaped glass was nerfed and i all ways want to use shaped glass
4:50 I think you need like 900+ for 99% block chance, and about 2000 for 99.999%. And I would assume ROR2 would round that to 100% since most games round up or down when reaching the 3rd or 4th decimal
To be fair with old leeching seed, when medkit and monster tooth only heal 10 in specific circumstances, and slug was affected by base healing rate, healing 1 rapidly on MUL-T is actually S+
The only reason leeching seed is really bad now is specifically because those other healing sources have become so good, leeching seed is just a victim of power creep.
@Jaaaco 1.15^10 is 4. Not 4%. 4. Which is 400%.
The formula I used is that the first stack is 0.15, which is 15%. Then every stack after multiplies by 1.15, which means adding 15% of what's already there. 0.15*1.15^9=0.52768, which is about 53%
0.15*1.15^14=1.06136, which is about 106%
If you're going to try to correct people on their maths, it helps to at least understand place value and percentages :)
I did not take that warning seriously and my heart rate jumped to 188
Thing about the old kjaros also. The firestorm moved if your proc’d it so let’s say you got it off a mass of sticky bombs…. Well that 1000% damage flame just went off target because it moved away with its tiny AOE.
i remember watching this tierlist. man has it been a while
Watching Woolie for nearly 4 years now, damn
So I usually watch videos at a faster speed too, but watching someone watch a video thats already faster is wayy too much holy
even with the warning the knock scared tf outta me
Headset was also a set explosion radius, and the damage scaled with speed not fall distance, seeing as you fall at a set speed when using it that didn't help
Back in the day all my friends quit the run because it was late at night or they crashed but I just kept going and all their items were mine like teleporter boss would just give you 4 items and so many shrines, farthest I had gotten at the time and it was insane. I felt so invincible
I find my main use for berserker now is when I get a fire band proc and wipe some small boys.
I can wail on the big guys with the buff.
Best case is I hit big guy with fire band and it wipes some small guys near him
YES someone who understands the power of 2x speed. Its not brainrot, its efficiency
Woolie can you tell me how to do merc R ability upgrade because you cant take any damage
Look up "cabbage ror2" and watch how he does it!
The Mega Jump Legendary Artifact
rare*
Warbanner needs its risk of rain 1 effect, healing for your whole team was huge
It increases your hp regen
@@ThePizzabrothersGaming only attack and movement speed in ror2. In 1 it gave hp regen which was what made it good
The way bears work is it's (1-0.15)^bears = chance it doesn't block
