I am confused regarding ginseng essence water. Isn’t that essence? Essence and toners are different products, but I saw people using that specific one (ginseng) as both? Currently shopping around for toner to go before my retinol, and if that is indeed toner and not the essence please help me

Essence and toner are marketing words for a (generally) hydrating product
No, a toner is supposed to be refreshing. Essences and lotions are often heavier and slimy.

It’s all regional marketing at this point. Lotions can be light emulsions or lightweight hydrating toners, essences can have actives or not have actives, but so can toners, and some toners or nourishing and hydrating while some are more astringent.
All three toners are vegan and cruelty free, love that! 🐰💚
